  1. I agree, I find it really fun and entertaining. And sometimes it can lead to awesome moments like this, which was a highlight last time I saw them:

  2. To me it’s not about who the individual fans are that get brought up or how well they do, it’s the way the act itself eliminates the barrier between band and audience and makes it feel more like a party than a performance. Compared to other bands I’ve seen, it’s why the fans feel like important elements of a Green Day show like we’re all working together to make an experience happen instead of just watching them work. I wouldn’t want to see it go away completely for this reason. Creating that connection is one of those things that makes them special regardless of who gets to go on stage. Just seeing it happen makes you feel more connected.

  5. Well, there go my plans for the weekend.

  6. I'm for getting rid of it. It's cool for the fan, and cool that they do it in general, but rarely results in any interesting moments (but is cool when it does) and does take away from the show for me. There could be a compromise, where a fan comes up for one song, rather than 3 songs like they did for RevRad. I think 3 is too much. Unless the fan decides to change the setlist. Then I'm all for it.

  7. It would just inspire me to improve my skills or I'd say 'Can I play Brainstew instead? I know Brainstew!'

  8. I have to disagree with you guys, it's one of my favorite moments of the show. It's only a little bit you still see green day play most of the show! And it makes someones day

  9. I really need to draw Billie again...

  10. When you're playing Monopoly for Switch with your friend and a message keeps scrolling across the top saying that you have the last Green she needs to complete her set and you get a jolt of excitement every time because the only thing you associate with "green" being capitalized is Green Day.

  11. Maybe we will have concert next year, but Billie ain't gonna put fans on stage

  12. Awesome 👏👏👏😂

  13. I’m the opposite - I would hate if Billie made fun of me fucking up

  14. I think as well because these days there are a lot of people front row at multiple shows they end up getting on stage more than once. I know at least two people who have two guitars from Billie which doesn't seem fair (not Billie's fault because he sees thousands of people each night). I don't know how true it is but I was told there's a girl in the US who changes her hair colour and style for every show and has been pulled up 8 times! Give someone else a chance! Back on topic I'm not surprised about the NZ/Australia cancellations really. The way the numbers are growing of people with this virus who knows if the tour will get the green light at some point

  15. As a guy who is always at the front row for Green Day shows, I really want this thing to stay.

  16. Nifi is like “the game”. I can go a long time without thinking about it and then as soon as I remember I’m pissed.

  17. Okay, I actually agree with this! I get it, it's a super cool moment and it's such an amazing way to connect with the fans. But at the end of the day, I paid to see Green Day. I want to see Green Day, not someone else performing Longview. I've seen them pull up someone enough where I don't really need to see it again Plus, they'll never pull me up there since I'm rarely near the stage anyway.

  18. I've had that thought! I don't think they'll ever stop doing it permanently (with coronavirus yes if course). I can't remember which show it was where I actually saw the band perform Longview just as the themselves and it was amazing! I completely understand why they do it though and it makes a fans' night being invited up on stage

  19. This should be in the unpopular opinions thread I‘m sure but I wouldn’t mind if they stopped pulling folk on stage. Yes, I would love it to be me and am sure it’s been awesome for those Billie chose but it can take a long time and they usually are pretty awful. Given us some great pics though 😉😉

  20. That was one thing I noticed that was different about the last album release party. Unlike the one for RevRad they didn’t bring anyone onstage. Now that I think about it, did they do it at Madrid or Seville either? I know it wasn’t for that reason but it still added to the feeling of detachment that the release party show had. If they stop doing this for the next tour it will really change the whole vibe and nature of their shows.

  21. Update on the posters: I did NOT freak out in the morning when the light of day revealed them to me, but I'm still a little creeped out. They are directly opposite my bed, facing me, so that's part of what makes it so awkward. Btw here are my other GD posters: This is the one I got at my first GD concert and it used to make me just as uncomfortable, but I'm used to it now. I hope that will be the case with these new Alt Press ones. My cousin from NY sent me this one that she found.

  24. Billie Joe pulls a bunch of people from the crowd, asks them their names, writes them down and then adds them to the song. It's a big weird party on stage and Billie Joe is making out with everybody. When it is safe to do so of course.*

  25. Welcome to Billie doesn’t like us club
    1 point
  26. Exactly. I don’t want to do it unless I’m 100% sure. I know the audience doesn’t really care and Billie is a good sport about people messing up, but I don’t want to remember it as that one time I played guitar with Green Day and messed up.

  27. There's no way i'd raise my hand unless i was confident as fuck in playing the song lmao. Honestly i'd rather sing, i feel like it'd be less pressure.

  28. I'm just greedy and want more Green Day of course it's fun seeing people get pulled up on stage, but I wouldn't be upset if they stopped this or didn't do it for every show. It would also make it more special when it does happen. @RedundantIdiot Also, that would be me I'm not even gonna lie. I do know how to play GD songs on guitar, but I would mainly want to hug Billie >_> He can talk shit about me being bad as long as I get that hug.

  33. It's a shame that the Aus concerts got cancelled, not even postponed.. just cancelled. It might honestly be a blessing in disguise though because I really need to work on paying off my debts and I hope to have that done by the end of the year. Hopefully we get a better tour out of this (Maybe even a better album) but at the end of the day I would just be thankful at a chance to see GD play again.

  34. Shenanigans played in full. Letterbomb. The Saints are Coming. Then a cover of St. Anger for some reason. Show over.

  35. You know how Billie doesn't like the record label telling him what to do? Maybe he didn't like HIMSELF telling him what to do, which is why he's not releasing songs on Mondays anymore.
    1 point
  36. Perfect! I know it’s unlikely to happen but I hope for it anyway! That’s a good compromise you know what, I just want a happy, healthy Billie and the rest will come naturally

  37. He better! I half expect he comes out of quarantine with new super skills bc what else could he possibly do other than practice.

  38. I actually think it sounds cool on the record, but maybe he could make changes to how he sings it live to so the songs suit his voice better
