We like Kevin because he's hot, has great chemistry with Billie and the band in general, is a great musician, and is a friendly guy. Jeff being gone is just a bonus.

I mean aside from the obvious fact that Kevin is hot, he's such a sweet guy. I was lucky enough to speak with him and for whatever reason I didn't think he would be so friendly and upbeat. But he was so nice and lovely. And he spoke to my inner fangirl when he started gushing about Billie. His sweetness only adds to his hot factor for me.

I think Kevin really earned the fans’ love and devotion with The Longshot (yeah he was in FBHT but didn’t stand out as much then) His onstage chemistry with Billie elevated the band. Replacing Jeff in Green Day was a welcome move but definitely not the reason he is loved.

I haven't fangirled over Billie in a while, but as soon as I saw his Instagram story I had to rush here instantly Look at that wild mane of hair! 😍 I've really started to appreciate guys with longer hair recently, so seeing Billie like this does things to me And I love the blonde bits too. He should keep it like this for a little while after GD comes back. I also adore the grey stubble He's just so damn pretty! ❤️

No one even mentioned Jeff until you did. People have always liked Kevin ever since he was in FBHT and Prima Donna toured with Green Day a decade ago. He's a friendly and likeable guy, attractive, and as the frontman of a glam/rock n roll/punk band he has great stage presence, and nice onstage chemistry with Billie. Had the same experience when I met him at a Prima Donna show, such a lovely guy (same with the rest of the band too). And then a really fun performance. I'm really not bothered about Jeff playing with Green Day or not, Kevin is just awesome.

Kevin’s greatness stands because of his own merit. No need to compare him to anyone. Kevin is the awesome. So happy he’s in Green Day 💚 And Kevin + Lenny = Billie’s Paradise.

I would love for him to keep this with Green Day but he won’t. For some reason he locked into the black spikes as “Green Day hair” and now it’s like he can’t get out of it.

One of the things that most got me about Jeff was at the start of the Longshot tour when he had a personal family emergency and the tour was postponed in the eleventh hour. Absolutely the right thing to do and of course not his fault but it was still a big thing for two weeks of shows to be rescheduled last minute instead of temporarily replacing him. It was a tremendous act of loyalty and compassion on Billie’s part and though many hundreds of fans were inconvenienced, they all posted messages of support for Jeff and the decision on social media. In short, a lot of people went out of their way for him. But then when it was all over, he never said a thing about it. Not a post of appreciation for the fans or a thank you to Longshot for postponing. It made him come off like an ungrateful jerk.

It’s so great to see his face again finally. I was waiting for this so long lol But yeah I’m not personally a fan of seeing those two colors together in his hair like right now. I would prefer his natural fluffy curls that we saw when quarantine first began a few months ago but still, he looks always really pretty to me just because it’s Billie lol

Yeah he's not the first person to get angry/upset and act immaturely. I think it's the lack of addressing it/apologising afterwards that has left a lasting nasty taste though. It just made him less likeable, that's how it goes. No one has done anything terrible to him as a result, some people just don't like him as much, and that's their right. People would be into Kevin being in the band regardless though, because Kevin is awesome.

Oh boy . A while back he and his girlfriend broke up, he posted about it on Instagram, then when some fans started sending her nasty messages and someone mentioned it to him he encouraged them to continue. At some point he responded to one of the comments calling him out for this with an apology of sorts, but deleted it soon after, and otherwise never apologised or addressed it and just deleted everything instead. This lowered many fans' opinion of him. No one knows if this has anything to do with him seemingly no longer being a touring member of Green Day/being replaced by Kevin Preston though, he was/is still in the Longshot so who knows. But since that stuff with his girlfriend happened, and also because he was already a bit snarky/sarcastic with fans at times which not everyone was amused by, and because a lot of people really like Kevin, quite a lot of people are happier to see Kevin playing with Green Day. I think that sums it up.

I assume he’s keeping a consistent look to be instantly recognizable and avoid a “oh wow this is what he looks like now???” reaction, but I agree with you. I’d love it if he kept his natural hair for Green Day. I like it better. For that matter, today I rewatched the Coverups show from when he had a beard. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but imo he always looks cool when he’s more casual. I wouldn’t mind if he just went for that instead of going super fancy when he’s “at work”.

It also doesn't help that I've heard stories of Jeff being an asshole to fans so...🤷‍♀️ Also, some people have a hard time separating an artist from the bad things they've done. Some people are able to enjoy their work while acknowledging their shitty behavior and others can't, which I think is fine.

I guess I’m the OG GDC commie here and I have to agree. Green Day personally may be rich, but they’re just well-paid employees of Warner, it’s not like they run a sweatshop.

I think you have to put things in the right perspective and find the right enemies here. I am not sure if we are allowed to discuss this (if not mods please cancel/edit this post), but since it's publicly available information: Billie Joe is estimated to be worth $55 million. Let's say that the three of them together have $150 million, which I think it's actually way more than reality. This includes properties and whatsoever, it's not their liquidity, which will be way less than this. A world stadium tour like the one we are talking about can end up costing up to $59M a month (https://www.royaltyexchange.com/blog/costs-of-touring#sthash.3lxCqNEt.dpbs). Let's even say that we are on the medium-lower range here, $25M a month (even tho I think this is not really the case since we are talking about 3 huge bands + supporting acts touring only stadiums, worldwide). Make your calculations considering how long this tour was supposed to be, and even if you consider all the artists, from all of the three bands, contributing to cover the costs, you can easily realise that this is not something that can be expected from them. It's not about greediness or rich problems, we don't even know if and how much they actually contributed to cover the losses that this tour is clearly making in the current situation. It's just about economy, it's about the music industry that, as any other industry, in this situation need a state intervention to survive and be on its legs when things will be (hopefully) be able to be back to a new normality. And it's about the workers of the music industry getting paid their salary (a big cut of that monthly touring cost). It's a totally different topic of discussion when we talk about huge corporations, having hundreds of millions if not billions in liquidity, CEOs worth billions, maybe also paying starvation wages and evading taxes in some financial paradise, that somehow manage to get access to public money, while workers get fired and small businesses have to shut down. That is the problem, that sucks.

When they rely on touring dollars to pay their staff, I'm not surprised they got it. They will have to pay it back eventually. Even that lovely little "stimulus check" that a large portion of the US got will be paying that back, whether it's on our 2021 taxes or later.

I don't actually like the shirt. It's a cute idea but not something I want to pay retail for.

Nice cover OP! Couldn't agree more about the trilogy. It has sweet love songs, down and dirty party songs, sad and reflective songs. I love it. There's so many songs I love, Kill the DJ, Fell For You, Troublemaker, Fuck Time, Stop When the Red Lights Flash, Nightlife, Wow That's Loud, 8th Avenue Serenade, Missing You, X-Kid.... But my favourite is Brutal Love . One of the most beautiful songs I've heard.
