This is honestly one of the most ridiculous things I can remember seeing on this site. Imagine if this happened after everything they did. They put out an album, why not two albums? They played a 100 show world tour, why not 150 shows? Billie posted a selfie last week, why isn't he posting one this week? Green Day are doing some interviews and tv shows to promote their album for a few weeks, why didn't they release an official statement declaring that they've finished doing that now when I wanted to see them do more? Tre started posting some funny drawings on Instagram and then stopped when he got bored of it, how dare he? This entitlement, acting like nothing they do is ever enough, simply sours any cool thing they do and sucks the joy out of any thread. It isn't a "compliment". Lol please tell me what he promised you. This is a little extra thing he's done for fun during the quarantine. He didn't say how long he'd continue it for, he didn't specify how many songs he'd release. There's no promise or committment that he hasn't fulfilled. He's a successful musician whose career is just fine, but even if he wasn't that's his business. He's a free man, he's allowed to create or promote as much or little as he wants. So again, he's put out nine songs during quarantine, which is now easing off or ending for a lot of people. Exactly how many more songs do you think he owes to fulfil his supposed obligation to you?

Maybe he isn't done with NFM but is still looking after 80 after her surgery? Regardless of why he stopped I'm grateful that he did NFM to keep us entertained during those weeks, but other aspects of my life are starting to come back for me to enjoy again.

I love Billie and all the work and I am super grateful for all the covers and I love FOAMF too. That album is an under appreciated record. Green Day are an amazing band and Billie is an amazing song writer and a hard worker. What have you to complain about? Besides missing the point entirely? There is no need to complain about the evolution of a 30 year old band (thank goodness for the evolution) and there’s no reason to question why the covers have stopped. They’re not important right now (although they were fantastic and made Mondays a good day for the first time basically ever).

All of the examples you give involve someone being paid or contracted to do something or promising to do something. This does not. This isn't a committment he made to you, he's free to record and release songs as much or little as he feels like. Billie put out nine cover songs for his No Fun Mondays project during quarantine, along with doing a bunch of other things. He could've just chilled out and done nothing if he wanted. Is there a specific amount of additional songs you think you're entitled to?

He could be looking after Adie, he also has a pretty elderly mother to worry about, and Adie’s parents must be getting up there, who knows what all is going on in their lives at any time, far less with all this just now. He also may want to put out more songs but is giving respect to BLM, we just have to wait and see. I for one am very glad he did this at all.

But there's a difference between, "I love NFM, I wish he had done more of it", vs "Billie's a lazy asshole, why isn't he entertaining me for free anymore". The first is a compliment, the second is entitlement.

Just because you buy his product doesn’t give you or anyone else the right to say what he needs to do people who buy his cds don’t own HIM I think of the Bane scene in The Dark Knight Rises “we paid you a fortune” and this gives you power over me?

I just hate the entitled attitude your post reeked of... just because someone buys a product doesn't mean said person is entitled to anything else other than the product being bought... Billie (nor Mike or Tre) don't owe you or anyone else bonus freebies so if they do give some freebies and stop doing it they're not entitled to continue you go to McDonalds buy a Big Mac they don't owe you an extra one just because you bought the first one so why do you feel musicians owe fans more?

He could have done 50 songs (for FREE!) and you'd still be bitching that it wasn't enough.

Despite the quotes I never actually said that but okay And I wasn’t even saying we should have more of it, he’s the one who said there would be more. My only criticism was over the lack of a post saying it was done leading to people waiting for a song week after week. That could easily have been avoided.

I don't think I got used to it too soon, yet sometimes I remember the days when I got really excited knowing he would share another song. I miss it 💔 But it was so good while it lasted.

There's a hole in my bedroom wall which I definitely didn't do myself. Billie is the only carpenter for the job. And I'll watch...for learning purposes.... obviously.

There certainly are people in the U.S. who are pushing to keep it in the mainstream’s attention, but it certainly isn’t talked about as much as it was before. Understandably though, it’s still a sensitive topic.

This was just his own thing to entertain himself and fans during quarantine, he isn't putting the band in jeopardy. It served its purpose, even gave some bonus promotion since he always credited himself as "Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day", then the BLM protest stuff plus quarantine easing/coming to an end provided a natural end to it. It was a project that wasn't designed to last a specific amount of time so it isn't the case that he didn't finish it. It was always the case that whenever he felt like finishing it was when it was finished. Again, celebrities relentlessly promoting themselves and pushing their products during a global pandemic was never going to be good business. There's good reasons why Green Day, along with many other musicians/actors, haven't done that, and have concentrated more on gestures of goodwill like promoting charities and performing covers to keep themselves and fans entertained instead.

I introduce you to GDK - Green Day Karens I agree that Billie abandoned the project in a way that was a bit disappointing, but he’s stuck with it longer than I expected. He has his flaws but it’s not like he’s an awful person for doing something else than Green Day records now and then.

It's not about owing a certain amount. He can choose to never promote and have GD fall into irrelevance. Bad business but it's is choice. My point is don't start a project and not finish it. He said more songs were coming. But he also seems done. A simple tweet could solve all of this.

what is your problem ? hes a guy in a band who you dont even know so why are you defending him so hard? he even said in the same video in a musician. so fuck someone who says fuck all of you for wanting an album from the band that made me famous and pays my bills and at the same time wants people to buy the album he put out. also I thought it was ok for people have opinions. you obviously have no problem stating yours. im a green day fan not a billie joe fan. also the music is what matters. father of all is a good album but suffered because you can tell he put more work into writing for the longshot than for green day and thats my point. to me father of all is better than dookie. not lyrics but everything else.

Man...I want to be your view of a successful musician. I will constantly promise projects and never fulfill what I said. I will make money just by existing. I will keep fans just by breathing. Seriously, if Billie didn't have a recent track recent of promising stuff and never addressing it again, and maybe if Green Day didn't put out a recent album that seemed very lazy and low-effort, I wouldn't care as much. But it gets to a point that his "ADHD" is just making him look like an unprofessional mess. He thinks he can just do whatever and we'll pay for it. Sadly, he's right.

To look at it optimistically he might prefer to leave it open ended in case he feels like doing it again from time to time. Or it just might not even occur to him that anyone would be bothered he hasn't announced an official ending to it lol, probably always saw it as something he could pick up or put down whenever.

I'm listening to Nimrod and I remembered every time they cut Scattered (the 2nd time he repeats the 1st verse) when they play it live. It happened when I saw them in the Rev Rad tour, it happens on live performances I watch on youtube... And it pisses me off 'cause that's my favorite part of the song and they don't play it often.

Question for everyone in this thread; which of Billie's Strats (besides the original Blue) is your favorite, and why is it your favorite? @foxborohottub I'd be interested to know if you have one since you've worked on these guitars. I'll start. My favorite has always been what most refer to as Blue 2: This one is my favorite simply because it came across to me as more unique than the others. You didn't see many Strats with a left handed bridge (of course Stevie Ray Vaughan's guitars being the exception). Plus, the fact that BJ gravitated towards this Blue for the E standard songs more than the others means there must have been something about it that he liked, as I know he didn't care much for them at the time. My handle, Drink Coffee And Destroy, is from the Bouncing Souls who are one of my favorite bands, which I derived from the sticker on this guitar.
