Honestly I don’t feel any disappointment. NFM is/was a spontaneous initiative from Billie, it came of out of nowhere, might come back out of nowhere or not. Honestly I don’t really care about an official communication that this is over or on hold. It’s not that he promised to keep going forever or for a certain amount of time, it’s not an album getting delayed or whatever. It’s Billie posting covers on YT. He mentioned in those interviews he had a couple of songs on the pipeline, even announced a title. If he doesn’t feel like sharing them at the moment he’s entitled to do that without any warning. Laziness has nothing to do with this. I hope to hear these songs and more sooner or later, maybe in a official release, but his IG stories tell pretty clearly where his mind is right now, and where he would like to point ours. He might feel that even announcing a pause or end to the initiative would take the attention away from more important matters, and he would not be wrong. NFM is/was an activity to fight boredom and isolation and “escape” a sad reality. That doesn’t really apply to this situation, where keeping our mind actions focused on reality extremely important. He could record a song to support BLM, but so far he seemed to prefer to leave the microphone to other voices. I am fine with that. Pleasing the fandom (especially that small part of the fandom that waited impatiently every Monday for a new song, where I belong) is not always the point.

I just take it that it's not happening for now so I won't anticipate it, and if and when he does post something again it'll be a nice surprise.

Part of what makes baby animals and humans cute to us is their heads and eyes being large in comparison to their bodies. Same deal with Billie . With the eyeliner and big floofy hair he accentuates it and rocks the look.

It's about not taking up social media feeds or people's attention with stuff that distracts from the cause and/or people who have more useful things to say about it. Also the reason people always defend him in this is because it isn't even just that it's not an obligation. It's that he literally isn't doing anything wrong whatsoever. If he doesn't post songs or doesn't post on social media, at any time, for however long, for whatever reason, he isn't being mean or inconsiderate or doing wrong by us in any way. These things are entirely optional, choosing not to do them is a neutral action.

It's obvious why Billie isn't sharing music at the moment. If he really wants to "amplify melanated voices" then he's not going to take up space by spelling it out. He never actually promised No Fun Mondays would go on indefinitely and anyway, not long ago fans complained it had run its course and they'd rather see his dogs or family. If I were him I'd definitely feel like "the worst thing you can do to a music fan is give them what they want" or whatever it was he said.

If you are plumber and in your spare time make dildos out of tubes giving them for free to your clients, taking a break from making dildos to spend your free time attending protests is not bad business.

Yes, still waiting as well. I understand, and yes it would be nice for us hardcore fans to have this sort of communication. Anyway in this context and with this kind of spontaneous initiative, personally, I don’t care. It’s clear why he’s holding the release of the songs, and don’t really feel the need for an announcement of any sort. On Memorial Day it made sense to say “hey this week you are not getting anything I’m on holiday”, the audience otherwise doesn’t know that. This is a different context, it doesn’t need an explanation. If he wants to solely use his social to amplify BLM, that’s ok and good. I also don’t really see masses of fans dying to know why he’s not releasing the songs. If you are an hardcore fan following the band, you know why he’s doing that just by entering his Instagram. If you are a casual fan or listener for sure you don’t care about this kind of news. Do you see Gaga promoting her album on social media right now? And if you think that this moment is like any other day in the US because “people get killed every day” you really didn’t get what’s going on, or you don’t want to and in that case you are part of the problem.

I understand that it would be nice for us crazy fans who always wonder what’s going on and how many coffees Mike drunk during the last seven days. But it’s not a tv series missing the final episode or anything like that. I think it’s a cool initiative also because it’s spontaneous, the songs dropped at different times, weekdays, sometime they didn’t drop at all, once we basically got three in a week. I don’t really see the need for this “official announcement” approach. Why should he say it’s on hold or cancelled if maybe in one or two weeks, or one or two days, or one or two months, he decides to post a new song?

It seems to me this is over and I just wish we got a proper closure with Dreaming so we wouldn’t wait every Monday for songs that won’t come.

I just wish he would have posted something about it like he did Memorial Day. You can post BLM content and also communicate with your fans about your music. It was part of a campaign to pause all else last week I get that, but a proper effective movement can take months. At least say something. I’m still staying involved in the protest and taking action. I also miss my band.

Didn't think we were going to get one today. I think he's made the right call to hold off with everything going on. Although, I think a NFM cover would be a light in the darkness for a lot of us at this point, but I understand his decision not to. People would almost certainly attack him for it if he did, probably saying something about how that's a selfish thing to do right now, or we should not be taking the focus away from the cause at hand etc. I don't think those things are true, even though I would get where they come from. We're all still fighting and nothing can distract us from that. Of course we need to be dedicated to this movement until we see change. But we also need things that bring us joy in a time of sorrow and anger. I don't see how putting out music (non-promotional) to make people happy and give us a chance to get away for a moment could be seen as a bad thing. I feel like a negative response from at least some people would have been inevitable if he had released something new today, though. That's most likely why we didn't get anything. That or Billie himself is too outraged to want to or too busy taking action to have the time. Or it could be a combination of those things or something completely different. No way to know, but I do hope we eventually get another release.

I mean he's chilling at his house right now, it's not even anything recent being discussed. Nothing unreasonable has been posted but just nipping it in the bud so it doesn't turn into a debate/speculation about Billie's personal life.

Understandable but it's a special circumstance because there's the whole not posting anything that doesn't support BLM/the protests thing going on. Breaking his silence not to post about BLM but to make an announcement about his little covers project might not be something he feels comfortable doing. But also like, he never said it would last forever, might not even occur to him that it's any kind of issue to post covers when he feels like or stop when he feel like.

I get that, but I still think it would nice to just say something. It doesn't have to be an official announcement, just something similar like he did for Memorial Day. There are fans looking forward to it and not all of them are going to assume its on hold because of what's going on.

I agree that I wish he would post something about it. I understand if he doesn't want to continue or if he's taking a break because of everything happening right now, but a quick tweet about it would be nice so we know what's going on. It makes me think of content creators on YouTube who just abandon a series they were working on with no warning and then they get annoyed when fans ask what happened. You don't need to get deep into it, just a quick this is on hiatus or I'm taking another week off would be much appreciated.

I really wouldn't be surprised if this was done for a bit. Like I said, I would love sort of compilation release with all the songs (maybe throw in Dreaming, and maybe another new one?!) If there's nothing new by next week, I think it's safe to say the project is done, if not on hold for the foreseeable future - understandably of course.

How ever long the artist feels. God forbid Billie show some empathy and compassion to let peoples voices who need to be heard actually be heard.

Looking at some recent performances, I think your wish is pretty much granted He doesn’t get as as hammered as he used to, but definitely he gets drunk/high. Maybe some of the sloppy performances are caused by cognitive issues he might have, but then there are other shows where he’s doing just fine and sounds awesome, so it might as well just be the difference the beers/lines make. I guess brain damage is where we draw the line - that just wouldn’t be funny.

this moment isnt the time for entertainment, as nice as the momentary distraction would be. though i wouldnt be surprised to see a (GD) charity single for BLM or other significant cause/charity. but i kinda doubt there's going to be much entertainment going on for the time being. depending on what happens between now and then, things might begin to veer back a bit more towards 'normalcy' as july 4 approaches in the states. unless jumanji 2020 has other plans for the next few weeks.
