  1. I don't want to put this in news, since it's old, but this is a repost of an interview I did with Broadway Idiot director Doug Hamilton back in 2013. It was previously shared here, but since the website it was posted on no longer exists, I wanted to share it in case anyone is interested. It's one of my favorite interviews and I didn't want to let it sit on my harddrive forever. https://radionotfound.wordpress.com/2020/04/14/interview-going-behind-the-scenes-of-broadway-idiot-with-director-doug-hamilton/

  2. Wow it's really flying up the charts. Surprising and cool, because I always think of his covers and side projects to be more under the radar stuff for us fans. Never thought it would get attention in the mainstream.

  4. Here is the image & article text 😊 —- The band first led in June 1994. Green Day rewrites the record for the longest span of No. 1s in the three-decade history of Billboard's Alternative Songs airplay chart, as "Oh Yeah!" rises 2-1 on the April 18-dated tally. The song, Green Day's 12th No. 1, expands the trio's run of leaders to 25 years, 10 months and one week, dating to its first week on top with the prophetically titled "Longview," its first entry on the chart, in June 1994. Green Day bests Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose span of Alternative Songs No. 1s covers 24 years, nine months and two weeks, from October 1991 through August 2016. Beck ranks third, as he's stretched his leaders over 23 years, 11 months and two weeks, from February 1994 through January 2018. 5. I Think We're Alone Now went from 50 to 38 on the Hot Rock chart and from 28 to 20 on the Adult Pop chart this week.

  6. I think fall 2021 seems a bit far out, but truthfully no one has any idea how long this is going to go on for. My opinion is we won't see any big shows until next spring. I really, really do not see large festivals or concerts being able to go ahead until a vaccine is created. It would be irresponsible. It's good to be optimistic but there also needs to be some realism, too. I would love to see the North American portion of this tour go ahead for this year, but there is no way in hell it's happening.

  7. The 90’s interviews really were something - just saw one where they were all in bed together with the interviewer who asked Billie Joe and Mike to spit on each other and they said no that’s gross.

  8. Digging into the discographies of the original artists and oh man, Billie has some amazing taste. I probably won't be going TOO deep with the Bangles, but they've got a handful of songs that everyone has heard and are pretty good.

  9. Oh, that makes sense then. Wow, what a great interview! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Funny that he said they "focused more on Billie Joe's story." Yeah, sure.

  10. Things change. Little did they know they'd one day be spitting into each other's mouths.

  11. Yes, it's is. It's confirmed by Momentium who is arranging the show.

  12. The show in Norway is postponed until early June 2021. The exact date is suppose to be announced soon. I assume that the rest of the tour will be postponed as well, with or without the other opening acts. They obviously won't come to Europe for one show.

  13. That is, big concerts. See you on the club tour

  14. I like how Billie's surprising us every week. These aren't covers that he's done before with the Longshot or the Coverups. They're not even bands that he's covered before, with the exception of Johnny Thunders. This really is completely new material for us and I'm really enjoying it.

  15. And very good it was too, The Angel And The Jerk

  16. I just hope my kids will be able to start school in the fall and not be set back more than they already have. I don’t even care about the tour anymore. I’ll be happy to see Green Day once we have a vaccine and this is truly behind us.

  17. It was. I read another interview where they talked about finding the story and being surprised by it because it wasn’t about the conflict they expected, but in how Billie gradually became more invested in the project and grew closer to the cast and crew in a way that surprised him, learning things about his craft and making friends like he hadn’t since Gilman, culminating in his decision to join the cast onstage. That’s the story that comes through when you watch it.

  18. Yeah, we're just greedy with how much we want to see Billie

  19. I think it partly is, he clearly got more and more involved as the process went on, and then his performances were amazing.

  20. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! RIGHT?! I was looking over the interview and I was like....it's not about Billie's story at all!

  22. I think the request was inspired by them doing exactly that but they said it prompted people to spit on them from the audience and that was too much even for Billie.

  24. Had another one last night. The AI musical was being performed on a large plane. Billie was playing St. Jimmy, but was wearing his typical AI era outfit instead of the St. Jimmy clothes. He was in all black with a studded belt, short and spiky black hair, lots of eyeliner, and a red tie. He looked absolutely stunning. This was AI era Billie, not 21CB era when the musical actually took place. When it was over, I tried to get a glimpse of him after coming back out from backstage. It was very crowded and hard to get by people. Even though it was supposed to be a plane, it looked much more like a ferryboat. I finally spotted Billie in a room with a bunch of other people. He looked happy and had one of his huge, heart-melting smiles on his face. His hair wasn’t as spiked up anymore and some of his bangs were falling into his eyes a little bit. He was also now wearing a black tie with white dots that was tucked into his shirt. Like in real life, he raised the bar yet again when I thought he couldn’t possibly get any cuter/hotter.

  25. I think if they could get rearranged for another time they’d have already announced it. Most other tours that are getting moved have been announced

  26. This isn’t my idea but from an article I read - the reason why shows aren’t cancelled yet is that the promoters are waiting for governments to ban them. In that case they can get their money back from bands. Promoters wouldn’t get a refund if they cancelled on their own.

  27. I havent really been paying attention on these forums in a while, so not sure what info people have uncovered but I assume that hella mega will get postponed or even cancelled as I have smaller events around the same time all getting cancelled. In a way, (don't get me wrong, its sad either way), but I would prefer it gets cancelled. Hear me out, and i assume someone else may have mentioned this, but hella mega would've have been fun, but it was very expensive and stadium shows have never been my favourite. In an ideal world Hella mega would get cancelled or postponed and between now and the new hella mega dates there will be solo green day shows. This way the gigs will be either same price, but hopefully cheaper. Smaller crouds, hopefully not stadiums I wouldn't have to pay the price and/or fight for space with FOB or W fans. essentially I'm being optimistic that although this won't go ahead, something better will once the lock down is over. it will just happen like a year late... Also, my ticket choice was based off my where I stay for uni, which meant if the gig did go ahead, instead of a 1 hour commute, I'd be looking at 5Hrs+ and driving 5Hrs to stand for 5Hrs just to drive another 5Hrs+ doesn't seem that good of a night. also, we get our money back if its cancelled right?... Not sure if this is relevant, and in my eyes the shows are 100% cancelled, but they have stopped showing up for me under the YT videos. (the UK dates) and the only dates showing are US.

  33. No, they were pre-Gilman. They were late 70s in San Francisco. Billie also did a song with Penelope Houston (lead singer of the Avengers) in the 90s that was on an episode of Friends. The Avengers were talked about a lot in the book Gimme Something Better.

  34. Man, I really want GD to play Are We the Waiting/St. Jimmy again live. I've been watching lots of GD videos and I always forget how fucking good that is. I wonder if Billie would still jump and run around as frenetically. He's always embodied St. Jimmy perfectly because that's part of him. He just transforms when he sings that. It's amazing to watch. It's like he was training for his Broadway role from the beginning. No one else can do that.

  36. I felt like they were trying to cash in on the catalogue of hits as much as they could, with the overblown pricing and everything, so it looked like more of a business achievement than a career achievement, but I've see what you mean. They didn't get that much done this past decade, partly because of bad luck with Jason's and Britt's illness and it was really good to see things seemed to be getting back on track with revrad. So yeah, I'm sorry that there's another setback just when it seemed everything was going to be totally great forever. I'll be happy if they downsize instead, but I get that it sucks for them, just like for all musicians.

  37. I feel sorry for the band. They wanted to headline a big rock festival type lineup and play stadiums. It was like the one last thing on their wish list for their career. Of course they’ll still continue and make music but this was what they told Crush was like the last thing left they felt they could still achieve. The timing just sucked for them. A lot of work went into the planning and promotion of this tour and between this and the poor album sales they didn’t get that one big victory they wanted. This era has been a mess. It still may happen or they may get another chance in the future but they also may just say screw it and start to wind down instead. Personally, I look forward to smaller shows and tours but it’s more for them that I feel bad.

  38. at this point it will be completely irresponsible to go on with any huge gatherings. people have suffered, died or lost someone, lost their jobs or getting close to being broke. even if it went on, many people would end up not going. Look at the seat maps online: most dates are nowhere close to selling out and now with less people attending, nobody wants a half empty stadium. it is too too soon. i'd understand if it was by the end of the year, but this isn't stopping soon.
