God listened to the 2nd half of the album for the first time in a few weeks. So good and underrated7 points

Let's just say that in my experience Sugar Youth could really stand up to American Idiot in the context of being the song that's most dangerous to drive to4 points

Still hoping he will see and repost one of the covers I did and tagged him in *crosses fingers* wish me luckđ€4 points

So Billie's posting people's GD covers again; focusing on this one since it's one of my most wanted setlist songs and hopefully Kevin can talk Billie into it. đ4 points

This is probably going to sound technical and boring but it also feels like the vocal mix is being interpreted as poppy because of the glossy layered sound - I think those are actually 60âs effects that just happen to resemble modern pop sounds. It sounds like thereâs an ADT on his voice in all the songs, which was an effect George Martin & The Beatles invented because John Lennon hated doubling his voice. It basically took the single vocal track and created fake doubles by playing the original vocal at a slightly different but randomized speed and pitch at the same time. Listen to Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds and youâll for sure hear the FOAM vocal sound. It almost feels like a totally different album when ya start finding these little Easter eggs3 points

Randomly saw this on TV last night, so there you go, includes peak gremlin Billie3 points

I'm aimlessly scrolling through my hard drive (social distancing is going well!) and found a folder of my old GDC signatures. Some of them are fucking awful I made friends I'm still in touch with through these though! Whenever there were new pics (or even when there weren't... the fandom was that active then ) people made "sigs" and "avas" and shared them in art threads. There was a whole community around it. For further reminiscing... or just observing art ranging from creative to terrible3 points

The album itself doesnât sound half-assed, I mean, if I wasnât a part of the fandom, I wouldnât have a reason to think thereâs something off. Theyâve created more ambituous and more complex albums, but that doesnât make FOAM any less fun. But yeah, the way theyâre approaching it, or rather ignoring it almost completely, makes it look like they donât want to do this. That said, I doubt theyâd go from being excited about their music to phoning it in just because they suddenly got bored. Maybe this isnât a good time for them for one reason or another, but theyâve done enough great stuff in the past to make me give them a benefit of doubt before I assume theyâre bored at their job. I have to agree I wouldnât be too upset with HM not happening at all (Iâd take it over rescheduling). Itâs partly that I hate the whole concept of package tours, but also, Iâve kind of got mentally prepared for it even before the coronavirus appeared, because things just seemed off so it wouldnât surprise me.3 points

I agree with @Beyza - I'd LOVE to see the behind the scenes for this shoot. It's so well done and perfectly timed. I wonder how many takes there were to get that spitting shot. I also want to see all the goofiness and shenanigans (pun intended) that didn't make the cut. They all look absolutely stunning.3 points

I think this one should be here too. I love Billieâs shirt that has lips on it and couldnât help but wonder about behind the scenes of those photoshoots. It should be an interesting experience lol In this one for example all three are on the bed while Billie spitting a beer and Tre is basically flying lol They look natural though and the photos are aesthetically pleasing. Canât wait to see all the other ones!3 points

Listed to Love is for Losers again for the first time in a while. Blows FOAM out of the water sadly.3 points

True, I have looked past it I guess a part of it is the cringy promo and another is the fact that the album sounds different than what people are used to, but yeah youâre right - I canât dispute with that.2 points

I agree with most of what you are saying, but this album and it's terrible marketing is getting absolutely butchered by the general public to the point where even I don't understand why people hate it so much. The Trilogy had it's fair share of haters, so did RevRad (for some reason I still don't understand) but I have NEVER seen as many people hate a GD record as I have with this one, so yeah, I think they notice there's something slightly off đ.2 points

Exactly. When they reappeared with AI I thought WOAH, what happened here! đđđ2 points

I always remember reading an interview during the AI era, looking at Billie, and thinking, you did not look like that in the 90s...2 points

I remember seeing that live on TV! It was very exciting but I never expected to look at them years later and think they were so hot đđ2 points

Billie predicted Corona Virus with Sugar Youth. I hope he quarentined himself before he got the fever, shakes and burst into flames! Also, we need to look into his treatment of the virus by drinking whiskey and doing yeyo by a river. Did it cure him? I have reason to believe it did.2 points

I wish I had the technical knowledge to appreciate these little details because just reading about that is very cool1 point

George Martin did a lot of stuff with the vocals when producing The Beatles. I know Butch Vig has studied a lot of similar techniques which he used on Nevermind. He actually used that John Lennon thing you mentioned in his argument with Kurt to get him to buy into the vision.1 point

Those are my thoughts on it, they're either more standard GD songs, or ones that are another completely different flavor of GD, either way they were considered too different to be on FOAM, so it will be interesting to hear them nonetheless. I just pray that no one lets Billie design the next cover. That's what I want to believe, but I keep coming back to the conclusion that if they don't care than why did they do it to begin with? Up until now I would have defended the band no matter what (besides some of the obviously bad decisions made during the trilogy era) because at the end of the day they believe in what they do, but this whole era is just so fucking confusing that I don't know what to think anymore and I just want it to be over... I don't even care about answers or reasons anymore. Yeah, pretty much, but at least Dos wasn't filled with gimmicks. It's sad, but 100% true. I wouldn't even be upset if that happened. This is supposed to be my nephews first GD show and I don't want him to see it if it's as half assed as the album ended up being. I love these guys, but they need to raise their standards.1 point

I love Billie more than I can describe in words, but I have to say - the first thing I noticed about that post was that he used "to" when he should have used "too". But he never learned to read or write so well, so I'll let it pass.1 point

Yep, I am getting frustrated that so many people seem unable to see and hear all thatâs going on in FOAM.1 point

The internet is treating FOAMF like the Playstation Classic. Kinda sad to see a bunch of drones that know nothing try to act like their opinion is valuable. I get objectively why the reviews are mixed but the album is not a 0/10... While this possibly may be my least or second least favourite that's more just based on my taste and punk bias. I will say I am getting pissed off with the hate around "why is he doing this vocally why doesn't he just do the thing he always does?". I will say these are some of the hardest GD songs to sing and he's hitting notes he hasn't hit since 39/Smooth (which was when he was a kid...). Mike's bass playing and the band as a rhythm section is really tight as well. Just seems that the negatives and changes are overshadowing some of the more positive things.1 point
