Agree mostly with Graffitia. To short for the feeling of the song... Everytime i hear it I repeat, because in not enough... It has potential for being a 4 or 5 minutes song7 points

The huge issue with music is people who are not knowledgeable can hide behind "well it's my opinion!". That's great and they're totally entitled to it but it doesn't mean you know anything about music from an objective standpoint. "In my opinion I hate when he does vocals in this style..." that's great and you can totally have that opinion but as a musician myself I know when Billie was hitting that mic to record he was pushing himself past anything he's done prior. So stylistically it may not be people's choice but he was challenging himself. Something people fear to do these days... I also love the fusion with other genres on this record, specifically the motown influence on it. I can listen to Jackson 5 and throw Meet Me On The Roof in that list and it actually fits which I think is awesome. Some of these songs remind me of the later Clash records and while I love their early records it was studying their later records that pushed me to be more creative and become a better musician. That and my love for prog rock.6 points

The internet is treating FOAMF like the Playstation Classic. Kinda sad to see a bunch of drones that know nothing try to act like their opinion is valuable. I get objectively why the reviews are mixed but the album is not a 0/10... While this possibly may be my least or second least favourite that's more just based on my taste and punk bias. I will say I am getting pissed off with the hate around "why is he doing this vocally why doesn't he just do the thing he always does?". I will say these are some of the hardest GD songs to sing and he's hitting notes he hasn't hit since 39/Smooth (which was when he was a kid...). Mike's bass playing and the band as a rhythm section is really tight as well. Just seems that the negatives and changes are overshadowing some of the more positive things.5 points

So is is this the end of the hype? The pause is so underwhelming. They could be doing some live streams and play new songs, or maybe record a live video from their studio. Anything at this point would have been better.4 points

Yep, I am getting frustrated that so many people seem unable to see and hear all that’s going on in FOAM.4 points

Saw a thing too that said if you sing from “Dearly beloved...” to “...insane and insecure” from JOS that works too. I timed it and it’s exactly twenty seconds. I’ve been using that one 🙂4 points

GD and Basket Case get a mention in this AP article: CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION: 10 SCENE SONGS FOR HAND-WASHING https://www.altpress.com/features/coronavirus-prevention-handwashing-music-happy-birthday/ CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION: 10 SCENE SONGS FOR HAND-WASHING Because we’re getting super tired of singing “Happy Birthday.” People around the world are doing what they can to stop the spread of coronavirus. The global health outbreak has reached dozens of countries, and the disease has not been previously identified in humans, according to the World Health Organization. With more than 100,000 people infected with the virus, also known as COVID-19, everyone is taking serious measures to protect themselves. Major events such as SXSW have been canceled, and others such as Ultra Music Festival have been postponed. Many people are also upping their own personal hygiene measures, such as wearing masks and washing their hands more often. The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention recommends people wash their hands for 20 seconds, or the amount of time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice. However, people were getting sick of the song and started thinking about other tunes they could sing for 20 seconds. We’ve found 10 of the perfect scene songs to sing while washing your hands that are way better than “Happy Birthday.” You can check those out below! 9. Green Day – “Basket Case” “Do you have the time to listen to me whine?/About nothing and everything all at once/I am one of those melodramatic fools/Neurotic to the bone/No doubt about it” I found this online from greendayinc too:3 points

Definitely. Graffitia feels too short and it would suit it to be longer so the lyrics could play out some more3 points

Listening to the album more, I think some of the songs are a bit underwritten (and therefore unsatisfying even if I like them) and the rest spot on structurally speaking (they feel complete). Underwritten: FRA - Needs something more, not sure what. Longer bridge maybe, or some additional lyrics with less repetition. It's just too short. IWATT: This one may be the most frustrating. It's so repetitive and therefore unnecessarily long. I'm tempted to skip it except that I love the one verse and chorus it has, but it then proceeds to repeat the same verse twice and chorus three times with little change to the music. Even the bridge is just a repeat of the melody. This song had great potential I wish it had a second verse and a lyrical bridge and did not repeat the chorus three times without changes to the lyrics. It's a great one minute idea played out for almost four. Sugar Youth: Almost as frustrating as IWATT but in some ways more so because I love love love this song. I just wish it had a bridge and the chorus (which is phenomenal) returned at the end of it. It would have made an already great song perfect. Graffitia: If I had my pick for longest song on the record, it would have been this one. IWATT doesn't deserve to be nearly four minutes but Graffitia definitely does. Again a second verse or a bridge, just a more interesting structure overall to go with what already is a great start. Spot on structurally speaking, wouldn't change a thing: FOAM (other than cutting back on the falsetto by about 50%), Oh Yeah, MMOTR, SYITH, JOAH, TTMAC3 points

After 10 years I finally scored one of these Rusty Wired hoodies in my size: I couldn't afford one when they went on sale all that time ago and it's so rare to find one, especially new, these days so I'm well pleased.2 points

Maybe we will get other parts of Graffitia on later releases. Graffitia Part 0. Graffitia Part 2. Graffitia Part 3. Or maybe the one we already got is part 2.2 points

Oh wow. That email I was going to send to them never actually happened but that is good to know! They probably have no interest in answering questions unless its inquiring about a guitar from the Custom Shop.1 point

This is so bad that I’m convinced there must be at least some underlying issues. There are professionals doing this, they surely know complete silence isn’t how you promote anything.1 point

They recorded most of those songs in their teens. Even though a kid's voice will change permanently around 14-15 the singing range doesn't really fully change until about 19-20. You can actually hear somewhat of a difference between 39/Smooth and Kerplunk. If you actually listen to the legitimate albums and not the compilations.1 point

Definitely could use another verse1 point

Maybe just another verse for Graffitia. Verse are my favorite part in this song. The chorus is pretty good too but not as catchy.1 point

Finally found the 1997 Total Guitar scans after digging around a bit: The Telecaster on the second page is Candy Apple Red, not the maroon color I had listed. I also think it's a bit ironic that Billie proceeds to say "Strats are just the hardest to break. Les Pauls are so wimpy - you can smash them instantly..." and two years later begins to play Gibson almost exclusively. Plus, he's not wrong. Strats are damn near bulletproof.1 point

It'll be a shame if TTMAC is never played live. I don't care which band of Billie's he plays it with, just play it.1 point

Every time I listen to Graffitia I feel like there's a whole story buried in this wonderful (and too short!) song I want to know more about. Can I have a full concept album that takes place in Graffitia please?1 point
