I’ve watched this at least three times lol cause it is so adorable to see they’re being weird and hanging together like bunch of teenagers. I wasn't into them at that time but it seemed like a really good era for them and also fans cause they seemed really genuine and even like friendly with the fans in some way especially through those live streams. I've been listening to the whole album on repeat for the whole week and I like it so much more than I used to. Cult Hero especially. I like it more than FOAM as a whole... but there are still a couple of songs on FOAM that I like more than every single Love is For Losers track. Ranking is tough especially when it's one of your favorite songwriters hahaha

Yeah Father and Oh Yeah have been the only singles so far. FRA was definitely only a promotional release. At this point so is MMOTR unless that changes later. But it would be unusual to release a video for a song and then put it out as a single later. I would say single three (if they even release one) will be something else from the album. Personally I think MMOTR would be the best choice from what's left. It's catchy and would play well on radio.

He could be using the whole story and Billie's fame to boost traffic onto his social media page. Everyone loves attention nowadays and will manufacture a story to get it. My question is what's wrong with this dude? If this was me I wouldn't be behind them shooting a story I'd be right up in there having a good time with Billie. I didn't see anything inappropriate they're both clearly having a good time. It could have literally been a joke... we can't really convey the tone of the person who shot the story and posted it

GDC thinks that everything artists write about are 100% true reflections of their life. There is no fantasy in the eyes of GDC. Billie Joe does Yeyo, underage Billie Eilish seduces people's dads, and John Lennon is a walrus.

I really enjoy it, but I don't have a special connection with it. I'm the rare fan that enjoys the newer more than the older. Foo Fighters is the best example. I don't enjoy their earlier album except for a song here and there. But starting with In Your Honor (2005ish) I feel like they became a truly great band. With Green Day I love every track, so ranking is difficult. I basically have to go through each album and figure which has the most songs I love the least and it's like choosing between children.

I'm still waiting for someone to use a profile pic of Billie looking down, so that when @DadBod posts after them, it'll look like Billie's looking at himself.

Crazy thing is, American Idiot Part 2 is honestly a very fitting title, from a subliminal standpoint, y'know? American Idiot was full of underlying themes pertaining to the influence of mass media and I personally feel that there is a definite connection here with FOAM (not necessarily intentional but it is there). I'm not just thinking of Oh Yeah, I'm thinking about how the songs are all short as a reference to the limited attention span of the modern age, the idea of the reduction of music to background noise, etc... not to mention the whole "state of the nation" reaction as in "omg, wtf is going on in the world, I'm freaking out" which is basically every GD album ever but also expressed in a blunter and more poignant way in American Idiot. Almost like it's saying "Oh, you thought 2004 was a mess? Buddy, look at 2020, we're not going anywhere, smh." American Idiot Part 2. Not a magnum opus but a small reflection. I guess if one continues this overanalyzation, one may think that the reusage of other familiar tunes is a metaphor of longing for times that now seem better ("I don't wanna live in the modern world," anyone?) Idk. That's a stretch I guess.

I think the truth is really that the album art conveys that they are not taking themselves too seriously and that’s an important distinction. This is not a troll on the public. Billie said that the defacing of the AI cover and the joke of the AI part two title was a way of taking the piss out of their own legacy and laughing at themselves. I don’t think the joke goes any further than that. He’s talked about times he has taken the pressure of Green Day far too seriously in the past and this is a way of alleviating that and just trying to enjoy themselves more. At their best they have always had a twisted sense of humor.

That's really interesting. I've never seen that article before. Do we know when it was written? I have to say, I'm very glad Billie seems to have gotten away from the more dangerous drugs. Alcohol is of course dangerous too, but not "slip up once and you die" kind of dangerous. We're very lucky to have him in our lives and I hope it stays that way for years and years to come.
