  7. I remember back in the days of Tre I was a fucking leak pioneer. The first guy to have it, enjoying the power on my hands as I found an early copy over a week before release in a JB Hi-fi And these days I am but a mere peasant, not even being able to tell if a decent leak exists, and maybe everyone but me has it? Too old for this shit

  9. Okay... another hot take to add to the pile. I think this album isn’t Green Day (okay, of course it’s Green Day but let me explain). I think this album is Billie, Mike, and Tre. I am not the first to say it, but this album sounds like a mash up of Green Day, The Foxboro Hot Tubs, and The Network. Which are like different personalities of the same band. But that is my point, they have chosen to not be in the musical corner that each of those three bands are in. This is album is a fusion. It is Billie, Mike, and Tre making the music they like without fear. Does it sound exactly like the Green Day we are used to? No. Does it sound exactly like the FBHT? No. Does it sound exactly like The Network? Again, no. Does it sound like all three? Yes. I love the freedom they have allowed themselves to have. Yes it will polarize fans, but it’s three guys making music they love. Isn’t that what music should be about anyway? Also, it feels like the Jasons got a fair amount of influence in and moments to be heard and shine on this album. Which is cool because they are also part of various side bands. Rant over.

  11. I don't know why we have to keep repeating this, considering there's a giant red banner at the top of the page, but please stop asking for links or PMs of album leaks. It's an automatic warning point and repeated offenses will result in suspension.

  14. New (I think) positive review https://www.clashmusic.com/reviews/green-day-father-of-all “On ‘Father of All…’ Green Day have delivered possibly their most immediate album this century and an album that, despite its short length, grows more rewarding with repeat listens. As with all their records it’s also a warning about what life can do to you, if you let it, but in classic Green Day style, Armstrong and co. are weathering that storm and carrying on.“ 7/10

  15. Honestly for me it's difficult to take albums or songs reviews seriously. Music (not live performances) is something you can't be objective about, it's only a matter of taste. Albums are recorded to sound perfect, there are not mistakes in it. In movies or tv shows for example there are some objective parameters that you can use to make a point, like how good is the cinematography, the acting. the direction, the script. All things that makes for a good or a bad movie/show. In music what are you going to use? The number of chords in each song? How difficult they're to play? The number of instruments? The rhythm? The lyrics maybe? When someone is described or describe himself as a music expert or a music reviewer i laugh at them.

  16. I went to a Liam Gallagher show yesterday. I don’t love the guy, be he pulled out a really enjoyable show. It’s interesting because he’s not really a chatter and doesn’t spend too much time interacting with the audience, but still the atmosphere was great. Of course much of it is due to his iconic image, but I think the stage design (primarily the really cool projections/live images on the background and the light effects) also had a huuuuge impact. I hope to see something like that during the Hella Mega, at least some dynamic background. This new record is modern and cool, please let’s apply that also to the stage. Please ❤️

  17. The record is now on Metacritic, it will probably be easiest way to keep track of all the grade based reviews https://www.metacritic.com/music/father-of-all/green-day/critic-reviews

  18. I am pleasantly surprised by this album. They really are great at that garage rock style, and I love how this feels kinda like the grimy offspring of Stop Drop & Roll and Dos. It's a pretty different sound for them, just as how Warning was very different from Dookie, and I'm glad they're not just sticking to the same sound they're known for at this stage in their career.

  20. RevRad probably has been the best era in terms of single choices. Bang Bang was great, RevRad perfect for the part of fandom who loves that kind of song, and Still Breathing a good choice to have a radio friendly song out there. They should have followed the same scheme, but in the end who cares, it doesn't change the fact that this record is sick ❤️

  21. At the moment I do agree that Oh Yeah! should have probably been picked as third single (I don't consider FRA a real single, it was released as part of the NHL deal, so different dynamic), with maybe either Graffitia or SY as the second choice to reassure part of the fandom. OY! feels like a label choice to have a radio friendly song out there during the album release, but it was probably perceived too much as a provocation. Or maybe that was the purpose and in that case chapeau to the band for staying punk 😛 But I do think FOAM was a great first single choice, it represents the spirit of the record, and I love the song. Plus it's one of the best live sounding song they have in their catalogue IMHO, so it really did good to that part of the promotion.

  34. Not sure if this review by Uncut was reported before: “"Fuses the hormonal aggression that put Green Day on the map with punched-up modern-day production courtesy of Butch Walker and a razor-sharp mix by Tchad Blake. [Mar 2020, p.29]" 7/10 Pretty much on point

  39. Just kind wanted to put my two cents out there. Kind of surprised to see so many people thinking this record is amazing and better than some of their past bigger records. I listened to the whole thing and only the last 2 or 3 songs really stood out to me as interesting or sounding more like what I expected to hear from a Green Day record this far down their career. The rest of the songs are just way too short and poppy for me to really give a shit, lol. Meet me on the roof is just a worse version of like 8th Avenue serenade and as people have said stab you in the heart just sounds like fuck time. There's not enough content here that's engaging, creative, or new sounding to me. Of course these complaints come from having heard music and albums I consider to be the standard for the band and this mostly falls far below it, imo. I prefer anything off the trilogy to the majority of this record. On that note though I will say Graffita and Junkies on a High sound more like fuller and epic tracks with their lyrics, the production and the instruments.
