I only looked at the lyrics once, but from what I read, I’m really intrigued. They truly are dark and the entire album seems almost like a soliloquy to self-destruction, but what really surprised me is that, unlike The Longshot and most Trilogy songs that follow the same topics, Billie is now using a lot of the recurrent grotesque imagery in almost all the lyrics, like he’s trying to be intentionally ugly (reminds me a lot of Fever Blister in that way). It’s something he’s been playing around a lot in the past few years, especially with The Longshot drawings and all, but I think now he truly got the lyrics evoke the same feeling. When the full songs come out, they’re probably gonna help put in context some aesthetic choices from this era, especially the album cover. I’m super hyped now, but reading how all that subreddit thread is trashing the lyrics, I’m not sure if I’m onto something or just in too deep to start waxing poetry about Billie singing about piss and spit 😂

You make a very good point here. There's a certain ugliness to it that seems to be an artistic choice. He's singing about stuff that isn't nice and he's not glossing it. The kitchiness of the visuals plays into this too. Now that I think of it, Madonna Inn is featured in Umberto Eco's On Ugliness, so yeah, it's a literal textbook example of a grotesque aesthetic. And it makes sense in the context of his disgusted imagery (crawling on the floor, spit), it's a contrast and there's also a lot of cynicism in it. There's some cruel mockery in that, "rock'n'roll tragedy / I think the next one could be me".

I think it’s shipped from the UK Warner facilities if you ordered it from the EU store, so it shouldn’t take that long. Lol the indie store just sent me a message saying that Warner sent an email to all retailers reminding to not sell the copies before Friday, so they can’t give it to me on Monday. What the hell, KGB at its best 😂

Not super random, but I was in Pisa, Italy this past summer. I was wearing a tee with the "Basket Case" album art on it at this small, hip brunch place. The servers were all mid-twenties like myself. I think they noticed my shirt cause after I got my food, they put Basket Case over the speakers. Even without speaking the language, the love of Green Day shined through!

Idk prices for MCR and Hella Mega aren't really that different. MCR is just playing smaller venues and there is more demand so Ticketmaster hiked up all the prices shortly after they went on sale. Regardless, Ticketmaster is a disgusting company and should be obliterated.
