I'm all for people having opinions, but pretending you know how much effort a band did or did not put into a song is pretty fucking stupid. You can like it, you can dislike it, you can feel the quality of the writing is or is not high for your personal standards, but to pretend you know how much effort they put into it is entirely incorrect. Plenty of bands put a lot of effort into writing music that I end up disliking. Just because it does not meet my subjective, personal standards does not mean they did not put effort into it.

generally, i am the same. maybe it's because his aren't covering his whole body? It's just his arms and a few on his legs/ankles? I used to find Frank from my chemical romance attractive and his tattoos made him look better, until he went total crazy and has almost his entire body covered. turned me off.

As a rule I' m not really into tatoos - except on this one person. I love them on him!

At this point I’m confident that he never really got sober and that rehab thing wasn’t something serious and it served as a damage control for the record company. The problem were pills and other substances not alcohol. Now when GD is out of their contract I think he will loosen up a bit again. He’s been drinking publicly since like 2 years at least so.. It looks like he doesn’t give a shit anymore. I really have mixed emotion about it because I was really in a bad place emotionally when the whole rehab thing started and I truly felt for a moment that GD is over. I don’t want to feel like that ever again and see Billie doing potentionally life threatening things, like jumping off the balcony. We can all agree on that, right?

I’m sure when he told RS in 2013 “that was my last drink. It’s documented” and if he ever felt like drinking again he only had to watch that video, and the stuff about letting the fans down etc. he meant it. At the time he meant it. But addiction’s a bitch and after a while you get complacent and forget and start to rationalize that you can handle it when the desire returns, which it does. It’s a lifetime struggle for anyone but it doesn’t mean his intentions weren’t pure and different fresh out of rehab.

So you’re actually going to sit here and tell me that songs like Bang Bang, Revolution Radio, Still Breathing, and Forever Now have no effort put into them, despite the fact that there is a ton of emotional and political baggage on display?

I feel like some of you guys have been watching totally different videos than I did. Billie sounded fine on Stop Drop and Roll maybe, but that's it. The rest of the show was a mess. The band (especially Tré) fucked up everything they could and Billie didn't sound good at all to me compared to the other shows of this era. I agree that previous performances so far were stunning and I noticed some improvement in Billie's voice, but this show was not nearly as good. I'm taking it for what it was though, sort of a family reunion and Tré's birthday party more than anything. Of course it was fucking amazing to have all side projects + Green Day play at a single show and I honestly found it hilarious that they messed up so much, given that they're always so tight. They weren't taking this seriously and the performance was affected by that. They don't care and I don't either, it must have been a blast.
