  1. When you’re typing a letter to a law firm and one of the names it is to is Pritchard and know that only other GD fans would understand without explanation.

  2. Is it a form of mind control? I was seriously considering buying a very cute unicorn key ring I saw today, why for heaven's sake??? I don't need it, have too many keys to fit, it was terrible design, would catch on everything and I have other keyrings at home …… may go back for it tomorrow 😂

  6. Article here from Forbes: Even After All These Years, Green Day Still Rules Rock Radio https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2019/10/22/even-after-all-these-years-green-day-still-rules-rock-radio/#262c0aff34a5 Green Day’s upcoming thirteenth album Father of All Motherfuckers doesn’t drop until next February, but the band is already busy promoting the effort with a new single. Their latest offering “Father of All…” (which the album is also being referred to by those who don’t want to use its more adult-leaning proper title) bolted to the top of a genre-specific chart last frame, giving them another leader and helping them inch closer to the all-time record for the most champions. “Father of All…” became Green Day’s fifth No. 1 hit on the Rock Airplay chart last week, proving that even after decades in the business, the band is still regarded as a favorite among those who listen to rock radio across the country. With five No. 1 hits on the Rock Airplay chart, Green Day holds onto the title of the act with the second-most leaders, but they break out of a tie with three other super successful groups. According to Billboard, before last week, the pop-punk legends were on the same level as Imagine Dragons, The Black Keys and Cage The Elephant, all of whom have collected a quartet of chart-owning titles. Those three bands have been pushed to third place on the list of the acts who have ruled the most times. Now, Green Day sits alone in second place with five No. 1 rock radio smashes, and they only need one more to match the current champion of the chart, Foo Fighters, who have secured half a dozen leaders. Green Day scored their first chart-topper in 2009, the year this specific list was introduced by Billboard. The group’s single “Know Your Enemy” rocketed to the top, and since then, they’ve reached the highest rung fairly regularly. They returned to the top in 2012 with “Oh Love,” in 2016 with “Bang Bang” and until this latest win, most recently with 2017’s “Still Breathing.” It’s worth mentioning that if the Rock Airplay chart had been around before 2009, Green Day’s career count would surely be much, much higher. The band has produced some of the most successful rock tracks of all time in the past quarter century, and they enjoyed crossover success in both the ‘90s and again in the mid-aughts. It’s tough to predict how many No. 1s they may have by now if the Rock Airplay list existed when they first appeared on the scene, but it would surely be higher than five.

  10. I'll have a very little sneak peek of the Hella Mega next Thursday on Halloween. The Interrupters are in my city. Can't wait to see them live. Gonna be awesome. Like every show I'll try to be at the gate by making the line early in the morning.

  11. I'm reading a serie of novels for teen/young adult. The main character mentions a bunch of punk bands she listens to through out the books. I was wondering why she never mentionned GD yet until I read pages 350-352 of book #6. I was like «Yes! That was about time!»

  12. when you're watching a quiz seo and there's a question about the record for the longest ever sustained note, and you immediately think back to Milton Keynes 2nd night when BJA seemed to hole a note for about 5 mins. I remember everyone stopped playing and I saw Mike just look in BJ's direction laughing like 'wtf?'

  14. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but i'm just gonna write it cause I need to get it out of my system. If you guys haven't heard, Chile has been in a full blown out chaos since Friday. It started out as a student's manifestation because of the raise of metro fare prices and in a matter of hours, it escalated into police brutality over the evasions, protests and riots all over the country over the social inequality of our socio-economical system and a declaration of state of emergency with military police on the streets and curfew time, which we haven't seen since the dictatorship in 1973-1990. Over the last days, I've been a part of the manifestations and it has been so horrible living the military repression that was taught to me in school and that my parents feared during the Pinochet years, especially because Chile has always been hailed as one of the most stable countries in Latin America and just 5 days ago, the president referred to our country as an "oasis in a convoluted continent" (goes to show you how thin the veil of democracy is). But underneath all that, there has been years of social discontent, class disparity, institutional distrust and political inefficacy that's been brewing inside of us that just exploded, without any kind of civic organization or political agenda, just everyday people going out in the streets because we had enough. During this last days, I've tried to listen to many of the albums that usually comfort me when I'm in this kind of mood; Parquet Courts' "Wide Awake", IDLES' "Joy as an Act of Ressistance", even American Idiot didn't work, but then I put on Revolution Radio and it just clicked. While I've never been a RR hater, I did criticize it at the moment for not being topical enough. I wondered why Billie didn't write Say Goodbye more explicitly about the BLM movement, or why Revolution Radio and Troubled Times sounded so lyrically empty. And it's just so funny how this three songs have been the only ones that have comforted me during this past week, and what I thought was just buzzwords took life on its own while I ran away from teargas and the police. I thank them for this now, because now I realize that repression isn't about a particular subject, it's a global issue that shares a common language that they expressed perfectly in this songs, and that the revolution against the establishment isn't always contingent, perfectly articulated or even rational, like it's usually romanticized in the dystopian movies. I used to say that those songs were a "fuck you just because", but damn if I don't feel like that after watching my family, friends and everyone surrounding me being screwed over for decades. So yeah, this one goes out to Revolution Radio, thank you for being the anthem that I needed for this moment in my life, because even though I'm scared shitless about history repeating itself, I'm also hopeful because I still see the spark in my people and I know that this has just begun. In any other time, I might have put it off another day, but not today.

  21. GAH! You're lucky you found Slipknot at Target. It wasn't even at my local store. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon, but I really didn't want to wait another week so I managed to track one down at a record store near me. But I'm the same way. When RevRad came out, I woke up early to go to Target and pick up the CD. But with stores like that limiting their supply, it's not even a guarantee. I'm actually happy Green Day didn't do a book version. I already spent enough on them and I was worried I'd break the band if they did a book version! I actually like them for my collection and I've managed to track down all the ones from AI to RevRad years down the line.

  23. I know, right? I'm still kind of bummed that I feel this way, but that's just it. All of this totally lacks passion so far, and I can't even really explain why. There's just a very weird aura surrounding the whole thing. I think moving to Crush and doing all the modern fancy stuff, like a long gap between single and album looked like a cool thing for them to do to stay relevant, but I start to believe that it was a mistake.

  24. It's not as excitint because for some reason there is a 5 month gap between single and album. Can't sustain hype that long. Seems like they are trying to build up pre-orders.

  25. @ANTI we hear a little about Chile, but it feels like we are in such a mess, we don’t have time to worry about others right now which is a dreadful state! I hope things improve and you stay safe. Glad you are finding comfort in Revrad. On a lighter note, I had two blackberries, last one was white, it was very cool and they were great. I still complain about touch screens being rubbish 😂😂

  32. Size wise; you can set up the Rose Bowl and get a HUGE crowd if you set up the stage in center. GD show was always supposed to have the stage at about the 20 yard line. It was moved about 20 yards up to compensate for the 15k tickets unsold so that it would look like a sell out, and it screwed a lot of people. Dodger Stadium is just more reserved for the elite of music. The Beatles played their second to last concert ever there. People that saw Paul Mc there 3x since remember each occasion. U2, Rolling Stones, it’s just iconic. I’m a lover of venues and Fenway was and Dodger Stadium are two of the greatest still used stadiums. Wrigley is amazing but it’s only used for stuff now. It’s not a park. Rose Bowl (without stage is 98,566) and Dodger Stadium (without stage is about 59,300).

  33. Partially GD related - apparently the promoter of the cancelled Gla;sgow gig in 2017 is suing the stage firm. I'm sure the people who were let down that day agree with their decision although it's small comfort to those who missed out on the show and kinda sad it never got rescheduled https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/green-day-glasgow-gig-row-20656545 There's another priceless and untrue heading from them here: Green Day Singer Reveals Wife Swimsuit Photo Of course Billie hasn't done anything of the kind I suppose at least we're having a laugh at their titles!

  36. Short piece from NME about WMUWSE: https://www.nme.com/news/music/billie-joe-armstrong-wake-september-ends-tribute-late-father-2558304 Kind of repeats what Billie said to Howard Stern on the show the other day as well as featuring this cool pic: Another piece here from Billboard about Father of All: https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/8533391/green-day-father-of-all-rules-rock-airplay-chart Basically Green Day's 'Father of All…' Rules Rock Airplay, Becomes Band's Record-Extending 21st Top Five on Alternative Songs. In other words GD have had five most rock airplay no. 1's (behind the Foo Fighters) and has 21 songs on the Most Top Five Alternative Songs Hits.

  37. When you do this to your sister's dogs. Charlie and Cooper must prefer GD's older stuff because clearly they weren't meant to be unicorns. Although Cooper, like many people here, seemed to finally accept his new friend.
