I just spent some time looking back on comments I made during the RevRad era on here. And it's strange; I'm excited for this new era, but I feel like I've been mourning that period of my life as a fan. It was just the most special, beautiful, magical era for me as a fan — it was the moment they grew into the band I always dreamed they could be, in every way imaginable. I was so happy — at my peak of being profoundly in love with this band, and in love with loving them. Everything felt perfect and honest and just so them — every interview, every performance. I wanted to hold on to that feeling this time around, but I'm not sure I'll be able to based on how the band is describing the general vibe. During the RevRad era, Billie used to talk about how each night was "a celebration, not a party." Now it seems like we're back to the party. And that's okay, I guess. Times change. But I think I will always be a little heartbroken that we're moving on from that era.6 points

Meh, people complain when they’re serious, they complain when they’re silly. Can’t please everyone.5 points

so happy i dont have to go to these hella mega shows (did i just say that? as a long-time GD fan?) but i am lucky enough to see GD (and Weezer, 1st time ever woho) at the german rock am ring festival, probably with the same sets billie said there is more music to come in 2020, and seeing them going nearly everywhere (asia, europe/uk, north america) and even playing festival in between (most bands do their own tour and festival shows another time, but not mixed like GD will do next year) makes me think that there will definitly be another tour (maybe in 2021), but this time a "real" GD-tour, playing arenas, visit more cities (they only play berlin in DE etc)5 points

I just hope they ditch the trend of playing almost none of the newer songs (21stCB, Trilogy, RevRad), it's a shame.4 points

If Billie in grotty shorts, oversize t-shirt, headband (!!!) and bumbag (sorry, not calling it a fanny pack) is the flip side to seeing Billie in tight black pants, black shirt and leopard print jacket like on Kimmel, I’ll put up with the first look. I maintain this is him incognito, no casual fan walking towards him would think “that’s Billie Joe Armstrong” 😂😂 I agree though, how do the two sides come together in the one man!!?? i am gonna defend him though and say lots of salt is terrible on your clothes, ruins them very quickly. 😊4 points

I don't really think throwing shit is better than a unicorn, but to each their own! I'm not gonna say the FOAM title isn't a bit cringe. I just see it as random and don't really think about it. It won't affect my enjoying the album (as long as the album is good )3 points

Couldn't stop myself from changing my profile picture. But I've kept the old one as my cover picture.3 points

I'm still hopeful, but anxious You will have an absolute blast. I always say that Green Day puts on the best show money can buy!3 points

I’m excited for you, there is nothing quite like your first GD concert.3 points

This is what I love about Green Day fans. Sure there are asshole comments out there about the single that those guys have to endure, but then they also get this level of love and dedication. All the fanart and covers must make them feel so good and that makes me happy. I hope they’re able to disregard the negative shit.3 points

I always love it when a news outlet is doing a report on Green Day and they try so hard to sound professional and keep a straight face when they have to talk about Dookie.2 points

The more I look at the unicorn and other related drawings, the more I don't like it. I like the serious side of Green Day, which was obviously presented during AI and 21st era. This is partly why GD stands out from the rest of pop-punk bands - they raise important and serious themes, they generally don't play crude punk rock nor sugary pop-rock, but they're able to perfectly bind those two. And I think that foamf era is going to be their goofiest period. They want to make it funny, the whole unicorn thing, but I personally don't entirely get it. It looks kind of cheap and I've got the feeling that all of those childish and colorful images come from a shitty pop-rock band. Green Day has never been so immature. The shit-talking about long songs, foamf as the best single ever (here we go again) and claiming to be the most dangerous band and so on. Maybe they make fan of everyting and everyone and really don't care what they're saying and in fact Billie loves long songs He gave a hint about fucking with us If he's honest, it's not good2 points

Ugh hearing everyone's stories about ticket hassle is giving me flashbacks of trying (AND FAILING) to get tickets to the club tour. Luckily, an amazing GD fan helped me out, but still. I hate buying tickets now. It's nothing but anxiety and frustration. Just thinking about it makes me stressed.2 points

I'm nervous about tomorrow because on Monday I failed to sign up for half the classes I wanted and now I'm afraid I'll fuck up again.2 points

I am also hoping for more tour dates with Green Day only. Since the only date working for me is one with Weezer and FOB and tickets are expensive my wallet would rather see Green Day again in 2021. 😅2 points

That’s exactly how I feel too. The RevRad era reflected my feelings at that time 100% because I had just overcome a very hard chapter of my life myself and was „back in the saddle“, ready to live and be happy again. And once again Green Day had magically put into words where I stood right now and what I felt, unable to put it into words myself. They were my beacon, once again. I understand that they’re in a different place now and that they want to move on, but to be honest, I don’t really know or understand where they are, and most of all, I don’t feel it. I’m somewhere else. A lot in this new era still seems weird and forced to me, and it feels .... heavy for some reason. It’s not their fault, I know, and I don’t blame them. It’s just how I feel and I’m glad to know that I’m not the only weird one2 points

But that's just not true. He was hospitalized due to intractable vomiting and lost his voice as a result. At least, that's what every article I ever read on that matter at the time said. Anyway, yeah it sucks that people are such dicks about that whole situation with Billie's rehab.2 points

It’s weird to think that tickets haven’t even gone on sale to the general public yet. Why does it feel like most of them have to be gone already?2 points

I don't think the disappointment about what you didn't see is real. There's always something else you get to see instead... I've never seen Brain Stew/Jaded, any Trilogy songs, they literally dropped Christie Road out of the shows I want to despite playing it almost every date. But none of that really mattered, their shows are always fun and in the end what's important is what they did play and not what was skipped. That may not be the same for casual fans though...I've seen people complaining they wanted WMUWSE and 21 Guns, most probably not knowing they were lucky enough to hear Going to Pasalacqua and JAR. So I can see the hits need to be played too haha2 points

Special guests should be The Struts. Let's just replace Weezer with The Struts actually. They're such a fun band!2 points

YAAAS. Make it so. My thinking also. I've gone back and forward so often on whether to sit this one out or not. Things have been a little tight to be honest, so i'd feel guilty buying pit, and the seated prices are grand, but a seated GD show just isn't the same, for me at least. I'm glad i was at least able to give my presale code to a mate that didn't have one and was stressing out over not getting something decent in gen. sale. Really, i think i am holding out on a *Green Day* show. That being said, if anything the announcement of this tour has made me realise i need to keep an eye out for a Weezer concert cos i'd love to see them at some point too. I had been listening to a /lot/ of The Blue Album in the last few weeks, so this has lodged the idea of going to see them in my head. I may end up scraping a ticket yet. 🤣1 point
