  1. Saw this guy two years ago today at Wrigley (obligatory for me to mention I'm wearing a Sox shirt as I type this). Here's to forgetting more buttons on the next tour.

  8. I love to see those arms but don’t love the bandana though but it’s ok. I love the slicked back hair. I also love the slightly devilish expression, he knows what he’s doing and he loves it. πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

  10. I see it as a double meaning - a deliberately creepy way to say she's young and also old enough to suffer because she's expected to put up with the way she's treated. I remember I saw a quote about the Britney Spears thing, but I can't remember where it came from.

  11. Here it is so no one else has to scroll through the long article: Cantiello: There was a stream of people coming down to do press after it, and I remember the All-American Rejects [singer] Tyson Ritter, and he was like, "Kanye's a jackass" or something -- like, "What the hell's he doing?" I remember Billie Joe from Green Day had strong words like, "What the hell was that? Let the girl have her moment!" (and it says at the bottom that they reached out to him for comment)

  12. I really love how she draws them, especially Billie! 'Simple' drawing but totally looks like him. She's gotten really good at it. Big manga fan as well Billie, bring back the longer & curly hair for Green Day

  13. It's not easy dealing with curly/fluffy hair, the bandana is forgiven

  14. Much prefer this to the slicked back hair look we've gotten recently. And yes, arm. If only he would keep the t-shirt look.

  15. It's a beautiful vocal performance for sure. That's my favourite thing about it too. I love how the sweet tone of his vocals is juxtaposed with the "creepy" lyrics. It really captures how people speak casually or even sweetly when saying weird or obsessive things about celebrities they wouldn't say about regular people. Yeah, like around the time Drama Queen and She's A Saint Not A Celebrity were written, Billie had been defending Britney Spears (although that's another thing I remember but can't find any record of now). I don't interpret the blood as explicitly menstrual, but as a metaphor for how young the subject is when people start obsessing over her, or just how people blatantly discuss intimate things about celebrities. Definitely difficult to pull off - I'm thinking of writing a novel about a stalker but it has to be perfectly executed or people will think it's autobiographical!

  16. Billie is mentioned in this article about the infamous Kanye-Taylor Swift MTV incident https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/television/8523549/2009-mtv-vmas-oral-history

  17. People miss the point of Drama Queen. It's about "obsession with celebrity" (source). The lyrics are embarrassing and creepy because the way people speak about celebrities is embarrassing and creepy. It's meant to make the listener uncomfortable. It fits so well into the trilogy's themes about an age gap relationship because the woman in particular would be spoken of in a patronising and creepy way. I actually like it but that belongs in unpopular opinions
