  13. Why specifically Emirates vs. Milton Keynes though? They also played Wembley in 2010 and I think there they had higher attendance than at Emirates Stadium. Also, they played several large stadiums in the US during the American Idiot tour (Giants Stadium, just to name one) also most likely exceeding 60'000, although not reaching 130'000. Btw, I think Wembley in 2010 was actually their single biggest show in terms of attendance. From what I read, they played in front of 90'000 people, which they haven't topped since then on a single show.

  15. Even Amanda... I love so much that song. He says "you're a different woman, that's for certain" and comes from "I don't know a thing about" to "I wanna know about". And the chorus. And the solo. One of the reasons I love the trilogy is that it carries deep, heavy subjects and you cab't be unaware of that when listening to the lyrics, and the music itself has sadness in it but it's always a jam at the same time. I love Extraordinary Girl, Give Me Novacaine and Whatsername from AI, for instance, but they're so devoid of any joy it's sometimes hard to listen to them. While I could listen to Lazy Bones in a loop, it will be okay. It's one of my favorites and the saddest of the trilogy, for me, but it still gets me going.

  19. I forgot Wembley was their biggest show! Pleases me since I was there. There's a brick in the ground outside the stadium that GDC members clubbed together to pay for, it commemorates Green Day playing there/GDC members being there. Particularly fitting knowing it's their biggest show to date.

  24. I don’t care what anyone says, Billie E is talented. It can’t be denied even if you don’t like her music or persona. Listen to some of her simple acoustic live performances. Her voice and range are amazing, and she and her brother write/produce all of her stuff. Billie Joe is right on this one, and there’s a mutual admiration there.

  28. I agree with some opinions regarding production style in trilogy. Let Yourself Go should have been straight punk-tones rather than clean af guitars. Same goes to Loss of Control. However, Trilogy's guitar sound is fucking amazing especially during songs like Stop When The Red Lights Flash, Lazy Bones, Lady Cobra, Wow! That's Loud, Amanda, 8th Avenue Serenade and Missing You. Those songs would not be as good as they are with any other tones. I don't get it why people like Demolicious versions more than studio albums. Sure, Baby Eyes and Nuclear Family sounds fucking amazing there, but everything else is just meh for me.

  29. Stumbled across this on FB. In one of the paragraphs GD gets a small mention: "I don’t know of any other bands that made it as big as Libido Boyz did, though several were very formative in the scene which revolved around basement shows, garage shows, Marti’s, YWCA, there was that empty storefront in the downtown mall that had a bunch of shows, there was even an epic show out at a farm where Green Day came to town and played on farm spools and a pick-up bed." If anyone would like to read the full article you can find it here: http://www.southernminnscene.com/punkato-how-mankato-became-a-paradise-for-punk-in-the-90s/

  32. My nephew's 11 and for the past couple of years he's mostly only been into chart music and not so much into Green Day or any rock. But the other day he told me he and his friends at school have started a band (it's a thing where they're allowed to use the music equipment at lunchtime) with him singing. I asked him what kind of music they were doing and he said "like Green Day" Turned out the way it started was his friend was playing a song on keyboard that he recognised as a GD song, the friend was very surprised he recognised it and was like how did you know?? He said because of my mum and auntie . I guess it's not that common for two 11 year olds to know Green Day now so that's cool. And now they're writing songs and trying out music stuff. Warms my heart!

  33. Had to go to the doctor's the other day (still nursing an injury to my leg from the Oslo 2017 GD show!). The doc ended up asking me what I'd done for my recent landmark birthday and I don't know how but the conversation turned to her telling me she was going to Costa Rica when I told her I'd been to Costa Rica to see GD about 10 years ago. The doctor exclaimed "YOU WENT TO COSTA RICA TO SEE GREEN DAY!" outstretching her arms and nodding her head in appreciation followed by "THAT'S WHEN NO-ONE USED TO VISIT ON HOLIDAY". I felt bad because there were a lot of other patients waiting but she talked to me about it for about 15 minutes and asked me to take in my photos! It's so rare to find anyone over here that's remotely interested or who even knows who GD are!

  36. But look at his mum, she's 87 for goodness sake. I haven't seen a picture of her for a year or two but no way she looked anything close to 80! What with the hair and all, that's some gene pool πŸ˜‚ Just made me wonder if we'll get lots of posts with Billie and Adie's big anniversary soon.

  37. I can't see either of your posts! So I was at that show... Didn't speak of it before because I tended to freak out too much already like that, with some expectations that got disappointed like meeting him which didn't happen, and i didn't know where I would end, but finally it was great, for waiting early enough I ended up front row right before Billie. About the bellie I wanted to say that by stretching my arm not even fully I could've touched it, but I didn't. I think Billie is a person like another and deserves to be respected in his integrity, being crazy about him can't excuse everything. I already hate that someone would touch even my hair without asking. When Billie crowdsurfes and opportunistic people touch his hair, (like I did myself last year!), it's one thing because he just throws himself in the crowd, but touching his bellie while he's playing, I don't think it would've been very respectful! Before the encore, when they were about to get back up on stage, they crossed a few fans on the sides and one girl brushed his arms in passing. When getting back up on stage Billie then had a quick wiping gesture on his arms with his hands. Proof that he didn't really like to be touched like that It was so porn indeed. He lay down just because he wanted to and once the fan (a girl two places on my left) had positioned the mic, he grabbed it so she would hold it a little closer to his mouth. She kept her hand perfectly still after that, but gosh it was just brushing his lips all the time! It was way too hot

  41. He is a precious puppy who must be protected But is all seriousness, having random strangers come up to me and invade my personal space would make me uncomfortable too. Especially while I was trying to do my job. Seeing some of these women "having" to touch him while his singing/playing before they dive back in to the crowd makes me uncomfortable.
