Haven't seen him with a cigarette since 2012. He took a puff of an audience member's vaporizer at the one Coverups show, but that's all that I've seen. Hopefully he doesn't anymore.

To be fair we don’t know how he feels after shows. I’ve seen industrial sized bottles of Advil in photos and Mike has had to sit in coolers of ice. They make it look easy but it’s not.

That happens to me all the time! My infatuation with Billie is really interfering with every damn aspect of my life. I can’t read anything without being reminded of Billie. God, I’m so screwed. On the topic of Billie’s athleticism, he really does seem to have an endless supply of energy when he’s performing. The way he throws himself off of those stage platforms and does those mid-air splits...his joints must be in fantastic shape. He must be in fantastic shape. You’d think that three decades of vigorous touring would eventually take a massive toll on his body, but he’s more athletically capable than most twenty year olds. I’m almost thirty years younger than Billie, and I could never do what he does. His livelihood really just defies logic. He’s not an “old man” but he’s definitely old enough for his muscles to start deteriorating. I don’t know how he does it. Mike and Tre are impressively athletic as well. This is why Green Day are such incredible live performers. There energy is absolutely astonishing.

Billies running and jumping around the stage for two and a half hours, while nailing the songs, is astonishing. And to find out he has asthma made me even more in awe of his performances. Whenever I've spoken to people who haven't seen GD I don't think they quite understand just how much he moves around stage during a show.. and for two and a half hours... and in his mid 40's. He defies nature.

Yeah, I hope he doesn't inhale anything aside from the air he's breathing. I want him, and all of them, to stay as healthy as possible so they live long, happy lives. We need our boys around!

The one that amazes me is when you see Kevin land like this. How he hasn't broken his knees is beyond me.

From an audience and music point of view, to lose your mind at the beginning of a gig, Billie screaming "do you wanna start a revolution" with a bunch of catchy songs works fine for me. As for the lyrics, it's only subjective whether they are more or less empty. With the way Billie sings them, they sure mean more than empty slogans to him. I think it's a good thing some lyrics may seem "vague" though, everyone can relate to it in their own way. Or if they don't, simply enjoy the music and loose energy. I've seen a lot of people not listening to the lyrics (in general) and just enjoying the music. It's a good thing we more core fans pay attention to every line because we expect quality in it coming from Billie, but lyrics put aside, this type of loud, fast and catchy songs still contributes to make an album and a show good. Whenever I look at a live performance of Bang Bang and Rev Rad, I'm still blown away. Also, in Rev Rad they were a fair amount of songs that weren't "political" at all. I don't even know what that term covers? How is a song like Troubled Times political, expressing despair for attacks killing people? It's something everyone thinks about. I'm not at all against songs being more on the personal aspect, but since he kept a lot of those for The Longshot, I'm guessing the next GD album will be just as the same type of formula as the previous ones, a mix of "political" and "personal". PS: Billie doesn't have less sex-appeal now ! That's also subjective I don't think either they will make an anti-Trump album. Or else everyone will remind Billie that he said Trump wouldn't get a single line out of him . He's reflecting on what's going on, good and bad and will continue to make songs out of it. I would be almost surprised (in a god way!) if I like the new album as much as Rev Rad. They better write damn good songs to play in the beginning of the show instead of Bang Bang and Rev Rad, if they don't keep those. In the song Rev Rad, the depth of the lyrics may not be very original but the goofiness is, "the air is barely breathing" and "anti-social media". With the melody, I enjoy the song overall more than Bang Bang, of which the lyrics gave me perhaps more to think about. About the other examples of "cliché" songs you mentioned, I agree that not every line is to think deeply about, the repeated chorus in 99 Rev for instance, but there are these great lyrics alongside the less original ones. The line "history will prove itself in the halls of justice and lost souls" is genius to me. Billie himself said (I lost the reference, it was a written interview, when he was asked about the trilogy) that particular song was one of the best stuff he's written, to him. In Troubled Times, I also don't think "what good is love and peace on earth when it's exclusive" is flat. So all this to say, it's really subjective whether the lyrics in a song are cliché or more than that. Billie doesn't seem afraid of sounding that way though, he really writes first to make sense for himself.

Yeah Green Day are poppy in general, they make a very catchy/poppy version of rock/punk music. But it's not really poppy in the way the current pop trend is (or in the way rock bands have started to sound to fit in with it more), that seems to be more of a dance and/or urban sounding version of pop. Still Breathing is probably the closest they've come to it but it's still pretty close to their usual poppy sound. I wouldn't want them to go more in that direction just for the sake of popularity but if they did it because they were into it and did something interesting with it I wouldn't mind, it wouldn't be straying that far from what they usually sound like anyway.

I found out that GD is one of my boss's favorite bands the other day. Pretty sweet! She's seen them live and says they're one of best live bands she's ever seen. No surprise there.

That’s true. I’m sure it’s much harder on their bodies than they make it appear. The fact that they can put on such performances at all is incredible nonetheless.

It is a troubling trend. I feel like Linkin Park pulled it off well with One More Light, but no one else is pulling it off. Papa Roach's new album sounds like straight up Imagine Dragons but worse. Blink-182's last record was a bunch of what they call "millennial whoa-ohs" with a a word or two of lyrics thrown in. Weezer's Black Album seems to be the culmination of all things bad when Rock goes Pop. I've tried to like it but The Black Album actually gave me a headache while listening to it. This gets kind of controversial, because there is a fine line between pop, rock and a combination of the two. Green Day have always balanced it well, so hopefully they won't go making songs where we wonder what happened to their guitars and drums.

Green Day have been pretty consistent with their sound since they've started. Obviously they sound different now than in 1990 but they've never made any drastic changes in sound over one album and I don't see that changing. Linkin Park were constantly changing their sound drastically with each album and All Time Low have always been more on the pop side of pop punk imo, at least from what I've heard of them

Dunno where'd this go but there's been a trend in 2017/2018 of rock bands going a lot more pop-oriented and leaving their harder rock stuff behind like All Time Low and Linkin Park and so on, and i hope Green Day doesn't do that. Its fine to me if i feel they did it for artistic reasons and not just to get top 40 hits, which is why I dont mind Paramore and Sleeping with Sirens doing it and waterparks adding some more poppiness to their latest and such, but it worries me that a lot of bands i like/liked are doing it >.<

I was literally in awe of his leggies seeing them live last time, couldn't get over how much energy he has constantly running around and jumping, and with a the weight of a guitar on him and having enough breath to sing powerfully too. It's incredible to watch. I got shin splints just from jogging to work wearing converse, I bow down to his strong little legs.

Yeah I do think that those songs do have some good lines in them. But overall, they feel clichéd with the choruses of 99R and TT just repeating the same clichéd lines and RevRad seems to be about nothing in particular. Even though it was inspired by BLM, nothing in the song really indicates that it's about anything in particular

He is an incredibly good jumper! That's something I've always been impressed by. I could never even dream of getting that kind of height. Billie is truly and man of many talents. Like @Hermione said, how does he still have any breath left to sing with? He's so amazing! So powerful and athletic!

I don’t know about releases (new material) but I know they would like to do more live shows (Kevin mentioned it recently). I think that account will stick around for a while, it’s still a viable side project that they all enjoy.

About Billie's dancer legs, even if he doesn't (really ) dance, what he can do with them is still very impressive, especially considering he doesn't have a training routine specifically for that, apart from the playing routine. He certainly has a natural agility, and doesn't seem to lose it with age . The most impressive are this kind of jumps: Jason's expression is meaningful and when he stands on a leg and raises the other one high: and also these jumps: The figure may not be as impressive, but he does jump high! Imagine the strain on his knees, when he pushes on them and when he comes back down. He has little but strong leggies

@The Bellie I have had similar things happen , but my favourite was with a friend who has little interest in music, so not something we ever really discuss. We were sitting in a bar and my phone lit up and I had a great shot of Billie as my lock screen. She said "who is that" but like WHO IS THAT??? and went on to say her husband would not be happy if she had that pic on her phone 😂

My female friends often say he is cute, but not their style. Or he has a special face (in a good way) but they don't find him beautiful... I noticed that when I have to choose a pic quickly to present him, I choose one that I love, but it's not always the one that speaks the most to others. As for my male friends, they think he's a dork, but I have a hard time hearing even "cute" from them. But they don't say he's not cute However, sometimes they may find him beautiful on a pic they see "accidentally" : I remember a 40-year-old dude who had already seen several pics of Billie, and stopped to look at this one: It's not even one where we see his face clearly (I think it's the pic of a thumbnail for a Still Breathing video) but there's a lot of emotion in it, the posture, his expression, yet it's not one of the pics I would have thought of at first. But telling from how the guy looked at it, he would definitely see Billie differently after that If I remember well, it's also with the music, the emotion, and his performing, that I began to find him beautiful when I became a fan. I was too busy discovering the music, and finding him so beautiful already from the inside, to ask myself about his physical features. So I guess I forgive people who see a pic and stop to say he is cute, or that he makes weird faces. I remember though I immediately loved his way of walking on the stage, I found it sexy, but when I said that more lately to other fans, they told me that they found it funny. We watched videos and ended up dead laughing. And I was like: "how did I never see that it was funny?!" and now I find it sexy and funny at the same time. Maybe next time I'll show this pic to guys: You think they'll accuse me of wanting to turn them gay?
