  2. Made this yesterday after I was just watching Awesome As Fuck again. So hot! 😍 I love it when Billie runs his hand(s) through his hair. It's from the BOBD footage. Here's a couple more really good hair ones. Great arms in this one too. đŸ€€ EDIT: One more.

  3. My unpopular opinion: I love the trilogy! I've been a defender of these albums for awhile. I like that the band didn't overthink the songs or leave some on the cutting room floor. The albums collectively serve as Billie Joe's stream of consciousness. And the results, are quite revealing. The lyrical content is honest focusing on themes that people experience as they are getting older. Especially if you are a rock star with many vices at your disposal! Billie Joe was going through an interesting period in his life. He was partying with the cast of the AI musical, touring with Green Day and the FBHT, and taking lots of pills coupled with excessive drinking. Sounds exhausting for anyone, especially a guy in his late 30s with a wife and two kids! All of these complex issues culminated in Billie Joe writing songs at rapid speed. The lyrics on tracks like Fell for You, Missing You, and Stay the Night are fantastic, albeit a bit dark. Even darker, are songs like Lazy Bones, Lady Cobra, and X-Kid. Lyrical content aside, the band sounds like they're having fun! Not locked into a concept album, they were able to play and jam free of constraints. And they were debuting these songs for tiny audiences at surprise shows. It probably felt like they were back at Gilman. The musicianship was very tight and Green Day was "firing on all cylinders" as Mike Dirnt has said. Great solos from all the members of the band including Jason White. I can understand why Billie Joe doesn't always want to revisit these songs on tour. But it's a shame that some people view these albums as filler. It's just another chapter in the story of Green Day. And I look forward to many more chapters!

  5. As far as I remember it's just Mike who's uncomfortable with the trilogy. I think it was in Kerrang (don't remember which issue) he said something like "it will take a while to reconcile with THAT ex-girlfriend." But Tre said he felt people would appreciate it in 10 years time. I assume Billie's fine with it since he's played the songs and remixed Fell For You recently, as well as saying this when asked if he regretted it: “Oh no. The only thing I would have done differently is I would have put all three records out at the same time. I wouldn’t have staggered them. That was the only thing. But that was just this crazy time for us. Just throw down some songs and it’s all about the moment. Don’t think, just play. Don’t think, just write. If it’s flawed in any way, it’s because it’s unfocused. But I think that’s the beauty of it too.” (source - is this a GDC member's photo? I don't remember, sorry!) And I love it so I'm glad

  6. Yeah, it seems like Mike and Tre the way they talk about the Trilogy view the whole power pop experiment as a failed one, but I don’t think Billie does. With the demo release and the remix and playing them with The Longshot I think he wants to revisit and fix certain things but he loves the songs.

  7. He played a few of them on the Longshot tour last spring/summer (stay the night, fell for you, & wild one), so HE might be ready to revisit them for a GD tour, but are Mike and Tre?

  8. I think Dos is the best of the trilogy. Most musically interesting, has some good lyrics at places, great highlights and no real low points (except I don't care for See You Tonight at all) Between Uno and Tré, I think Tré has 2 major highlights with Brutal Love and X-Kid and Tré is overall better lyrically, but Tré also has the worst songs in the trilogy imo (Drama Queen, I'm not that keen on Missing You either). While Uno has its low points, I rarely if ever skip any song on Uno

  14. I agree it's the best out of the trilogy. I don't hate on Uno specifically. I'm just not a fan of the trilogy in general. I feel like the trilogy is the weakest of the Green Day albums because of overall sound and lyrical content.

  16. I still think they could do an album this year. It's only March, they've got plenty of time!

  17. What makes you say that? Signs point to them being in the studio which would time perfectly for a fall release. I also think the Bob Gruen book might be timed for a fall release to coincide with a new album.

  19. The other night, I was in the kitchen getting something while my parents were watching some crime show called White Chapel. There was a really creepy guy who was seducing women and taking them home and drugging them, then doing awful things to them including drinking their blood. JUST because this guy was wearing eyeliner, my dad points at the screen and says "It's Billie Joe Armstrong". Then my mom turns to him and says "Don't say that." in a very offended and disgusted tone. I just really appreciated her defending Billie's honor and shooting down an association with such a horrible character. My dad was making a joke, but still. Billie is literally the only person he thinks of whenever he sees men in shows or movies with eyeliner. 🙄 I just always think "He's not the ONLY guy to ever wear eyeliner. It's not just his thing and anyone else who wears it shouldn't automatically be associated with him." Anyway, that's my random thought of the day.

  24. Okay so there's this kid that we hired and he has been non stop talking since we hired him. He said to me "I am not my true self here yet because I don't wanna get fired for saying something stupid" and as a joke to kinda be nice to this annoying kid and to help him open up I said "just don't say anything bad about Green Day and you'll be fine". This dumb ass looks at me and says "which one? I know two green days." and I said "what the hell are you talking about??" Kid: "you know, 4/20 and St. Patrick's day. The two green days" I swear to god. Me: "no, the band!" Kid: "there's a band called Green Day?" Oh my god. This kid never heard American Idiot, said he'd only heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams in the Transformers movies. Oh my hell.

  25. Yeah, it's San Francisco. The scene where Billie pulls the phone off the wall is in Powell St. BART Station. It ends with a shot of MisiĂłn San Francisco de AsĂs. The phone is still there, so you can go and re-enact the scene if you feel so inclined

  32. I will change the thread's title to «You know that the bus driver you had today is a GD fan when»... I was waiting to get out of the bus when it stopped at a red light. The bus driver had the radio on and When I Come Around started playing. I was standing next to the bus driver and she was whispering the lyrics and beating the rythm with her hands on the wheel.

When you walk past the Hot Topic at your local shopping mall (a store that you don't frequent), you hear "Burnout" playing inside the store, and you stand in the store's entrance for twenty minutes as they play Dookie in it's entirety. (I didn't stick around for the entire album, but I stuck around for the first half of the track listing and I imagine they eventually finished out the album )

  39. I think GD are in it for all the right reasons and love having such a mixed fan base, even though they don’t actively pursue it. Have faith, I as pretty nervous about Revrad but love it.

  40. Yeah, it's nerve-racking between albums. What if Green Day make a terrible album? What if they go a totally different direction and it's no good? What if they pander to a younger crowd in a desperate attempt to sound cool and make new fans (which doesn't work) What if, after 22+ years of fandom, I suddenly don't like what they do anymore? Green Day have a good track record, so I think we're good. I listed bands that I miss or let me down. Here's some that HAVEN'T let me down yet to get our spirits up. These are the bands that I feel have no bad albums AND are still active as a band in 2019. Keep it up guys!!!!! Transplants! - tend to take a hiatus between albums, but they are WORTH IT. Against Me! - quickly climbing toward Green Day levels of awesomeness, Laura Jane Grace is taking Punk Rock to places it didn't really plan on going! Also, unlike these other guys, haven't taken any extended breaks. I hope their taking care of themselves. Scars on Broadway - there was a decade long gap between albums, but now their back and churning out great music! Slipknot - Solid discography in my opinion, and their breaks between albums aren't crazy long.

  43. When no other band can even come close to make you feel the way they do. So many of my favorites are having issues at this point in their career. +44 - probably never getting back together. System of a down - can't make a new album due to disagreements Nirvana - a new album with some of these amazing singers they've teamed up with? unlikely Staind - Aaron has gone solo country, and put a stop to a great rock band. Cold - what's going on with these guys? 8 years and no album! Linkin Park - Even if they can recover, nothing will ever be the same Box Car Racer - probably never getting back together Weezer - their discography is taking a nosedive. YIKES The Offspring - Their new album is like a cable guy - will come out sometime between 2013 and 2060.
