  1. There's nothing going on, so let's look at Billie looking at things.

  2. So a few weeks ago (pages 161-163) we did our predictions for Billies style for the next GD era, and I've finally got round to putting them in a spreadsheet. However, if anyone who hasn't made a prediction wants to do so (or if anyone wants to make additions), I can update the spreadsheet accordingly. Looking at the predictions, there's a lot of similarities in terms of Billies hair length and the clothes but it'll be the finer details like the earring which will decide how accurate the predictions are. Unless Billie does anything catastrophic (bald or Macy's Day Parade video style) Pouty Bitch's ''he's gonna look perfect'' prediction will probably be the most accurate.

  4. I've always thought something about his teeth affected his singing on Warning too. It's very...spitty and a faint lisp. Maybe the chipped front teeth did it? I don't know but it's different. But also I think he just changed his style of singing. He used to sing in a more bratty/shouty way and (whether consciously or unconsciously) kind of threw both his singing and speaking voice to make it sound lower. At some point he dropped that and let his naturally higher speaking voice come through and I think something similar happened with the singing, it became more natural sounding and less stylised. Warning was probably in the transitional period of that.

  10. Two random thoughts from me today. Firstly, when Rev Rad came out I loved all the interviews that GD did where they talked about the writing/recording process- and I'm looking forward to that when the next album comes out. Hopefully Billie will talk a bit about creating The Longshot. Secondly, the Liverpool vs Manchester United game was previewed on TV with the words "know your enemy" and Dad started singing KYE (if I can call it singing ).

  11. Yeah reading this made me a little scared at first especially because two of my least favorite things on this earth are P!ATD and FOB (also idk if they'd wear Puma or Walmart brand clothing in this alternate universe but it would definitely be something trashy)

  12. Yeah it doesn't worry me but the whole paragraph just conjures up a horrible image of Green Day

  14. The two biggest ones were around 2002 (pre Pop Disaster Tour) and the end of 2016. Not sure how much of an impact it had on his singing though. His biggest lisp was in Fell for You. I'd say the change between Warning and AI was him sounding less congested. I doubt dental surgery would have anything to do with that though.

  15. My best friend is threatening to make a "Green Day Jar" and every time I mention anything Billie or GD related I would have to put $1 in the jar hopefully it doesn't come to that because my whole paycheck would be getting slam dunked

  16. @maryjanewhatsername I do something pretty similar! I subtly slip Green Day references into conversations so I can keep talking about them without whoever I’m talking to being aware of it.

  17. When you can't mention Green Day around your friends anymore from obsessing too much so you have to talk about them in code.

  21. Another mention of Green Day in this NME article "Nine pop-punk records to look out for in 2019": https://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/nine-pop-punk-records-look-2019-2451736 This is what they say: Green Day What: Untitled new album When: TBC What to expect: After the band returned to what they knew on 2016’s ‘Revolution Radio’, an album of stadium-ready protest anthems, Green Day look set to shake things up with album 13. They’ve stopped working with their manager of 20 years to join Crush Music, who know a thing or two about forward facing pop-punk, looking after Weezer, Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy. But fear not, old skool fans, Green Day have also playing the whole of ‘Dookie’ during rehearsals. Did someone say 25th anniversary tour? What they say: “I’m writing new songs for gd now,” Billie Joe Armstrong told fans ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Green Day also get a couple of mentions in this Loudwire article "50 Rock Songs That Defined 2009" - the first for "21 Guns" and the second for "Know Your Enemy": http://loudwire.com/rock-songs-defined-2009/ This is what they have to say: Green Day, '21 Guns' Green Day took their time following up the monster success of their ‘American Idiot’ album, but when they finally did return a half decade later, the ‘21st Century Breakdown’ album showed no signs of backing down from the social commentary. “21 Guns,” which was the second single to drop from the album, spoke to the horrors of being pushed to the brink while at war. The song — bolstered by inclusion on the ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ soundtrack — climbed to No. 3 Alternative, was a Top 20 single at Mainstream Rock radio, crossed over to hit No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to be a platinum selling single. Green Day, 'Know Your Enemy' It didn’t take long to see that Green Day’s popularity was still intact after a five-year spell between albums. The anthemic rallying cry “Know Your Enemy” shot straight to No. 1 at both Alternative and Mainstream Rock radio, with Billie Joe Armstrong imploring the listener to take a closer look at the messages the media provides. The powerful messaging also fit well with the WWE, which claimed “Know Your Enemy” as a Smackdown theme. The gold-selling single got their 2009 return off on the right foot.

  22. Thank you for the information and god I always love your thoughts on stuff like this!!!! Yeah, I noticed more in the earlier albums like Insomniac (been binging lately!) that he has a tiny lisp/congestion. I don't know if dental surgery would help with stuff like that either, but I did notice around those times a different sound from him. I might be nuts though! Thank you @Montclare

  25. Honestly, Billie has made the idea of aging more appealing to me, because he wears the little fine lines on his face so well. Those little “imperfections” are so charming to me. It’s a shame that most of us aren’t/won’t be lucky enough to age as well as he has. (I realize this is a bit random, but it’s just something I’ve had on my mind a lot lately)
