Me and my chins waiting for GD news like... Yeah I can't wait for the promo stuff too, I'm just SUPER excited for the next tour because I just might manage to get to my first GD show!10 points

Me too. And it’s not just the tour. It’s such a fun time it means starting months before with new photoshoots, interviews, TV appearances, singles... The whole promotional period is what I’m looking forward to.6 points

I so agree with all everyone has said here about the relationship the guys have, I think it shows in everything they do. I so love that bit at the end of The Ride, when Tre, who we so often take as saying weird and random stuff, says "if you find yourself in the same band with the same guys 30 years on, it's a very good think if you love those guys" it gets me every time I watch it, which is quite a lot 😂5 points

I love when Mikes looks at Billie during gigs, he often turns his head to look at him: < even here I'm sure he is Speaking of feeling up (maybe not to the same level ), this was one of the first pics I saw of Rev Rad era and I was so in love with it right away and I love this one as well, Billie seems in heaven, almost closing his eyes as he takes support with his foot on Mike It's funny because I can't look at that picture without thinking that's an image for what's going on between them in real: support, faith, counting on each other Thinking back now, I think the love between Billie, Mike and Tre, even before knowing their whole story, but with just what I could see of them when looking up for vids and pics during concerts, contributed a lot to make me fall in love with the band right away. And as it's the first band I was so deeply in (not only for the music, but also for the band members themselves), I didn't realize that their level friendship is a rare thing in a band, and I didn't know that many other bands, even famous, would break up, reform, etc. I was having Green Day's example and thought the only way to form a band was when the members loved each other like Billie, Mike and Tre, it seemed inconceivable to me otherwise and it still sounds weird to me when I see very successful bands which members don't necessarily have that same bond. It's like: something is missing in that band, where are the hugs and the messing around together?5 points

I'm hoping I can go to one, too!! I'm thinking about making an armband with the GDC logo and my username on it so that if any of you guys are there we can all meet up and put faces to the usernames!!5 points

No f’ing way I would let Billie get near me with a needle and pen ink. Ok I would let him get near me but that’s it.5 points

I'm really missing GD so much rn.😭 Like, I'm not the type of person who gets impatient between albums, and usually I don't even start getting hyped for new music until the artist has confirmed it/given a release date, but dammit I'd give anything to have my boys on tour with new music rn. I just can't wait for the next GD era!4 points
-
Yes! I loved that too. These were some of my favorites. Billie feeling up Mike and Tre. Billie and Mike high fiving. Billie and Tre's kiss. And Billie and Mike's kiss.4 points

I agree with everything said about our boys and their beautiful friendship. I don't have much to add, but I saw this quote/pic the other day and it made me smile. Also, I love how they not only love each other as friends, but they genuinely admire each other's musical abilities too. Tre in particular seems to fanboy over Billie's songwriting pretty often. I remember him saying it's "the closest thing to magic you'll ever see" or something like that. Aw their friendship is just so perfect.❤️ They're the cutest.3 points

And it may not be that those people grew out of GD but rather that they were the ones who would be into whatever was popular at the time and from 2005-2010 that was Green Day. When styles changed they changed with them. I’ve never been a follower of the mainstream or what was trendy in general I’ve always liked what I liked so if others moved on I wouldn’t care.3 points

I was! Yeah in terms of number of shows vs area the UK is the most spoiled place. Pretty much guaranteed at least one show in London (plus the possibility of a warm up show and/or coming back for a stadium show later) and a few elsewhere. @G-L-O-R-I-A and @maryjanewhatsername I also really hope you get to see them.3 points

With hindsight it's kind of weird that they didn't all come on stage at the end of shows before, like from AI onwards even though the rest of the show was so well choreographed the standard thing was for Mike and Tre to just wander off not to be seen again before the last song lol, and they even did reappear at the end occasionally (eg in BIAB) so it's not like they just hadn't had the idea yet, they chose not to do it. It fits perfectly for them to pop back and all end the show together like that, glad they started doing it at every show and having so much fun with it.3 points

FYI for anyone wondering about posting pics of the baby - if it's posted (publicly) by a band member it's allowed, if it's posted (publicly) by anyone else it's only allowed if a band member is in the pic too. So yeah that's allowed since Mike is in the pic. Same always applies regarding posting pics of family members.2 points

Omg going to middle school during the emo hayday must have been awesome. I don't know, maybe the embarrassment is a part of being a green day fan. The price we pay for stanning a true legend.2 points

I mean look at this photo. You can’t fake this kind of love 💕 (sorry i don’t have a hosting site for pictures)2 points

Ok speaking of fangirling over Mike... I know we’re split on the “men with babies” subject, but I guess Mike and Brittany went to meet Tre’s baby last night and Brittany posted a picture of Mike holding the baby on her IG story, and I melted into a puddle of mush. There was also one of Tre taking a picture of mike holding the baby and he looked like such a proud dad. It was all so freaking adorable. It also goes back to their friendship in a way. They’re all a big happy family and I love it!! Also I’m not sure if I’m allowed to share those pics here, but either way I can’t figure out how because apparently I’m 100 years old, so if it’s allowed someone should post them so everyone can enjoy!!2 points

@G-L-O-R-I-A I really hope you get to see them, I'm sure you will, they normally do quite a few UK shows. Last time they did four I think it was, should have been five but lets not talk about Glasgow. 😭 😭 I saw them in the O2 and they were fantastic, think @Hermione was there too!2 points

Someone mentions happy hour (we have happy hour pizzas) and all you can think of is "Hitchin' A Ride" ((especially that super hot live performance billie did ))2 points

Why is it considered especially embarrassing to like Green Day? I've heard it from fans and non-fans, rock and pop fans, before and after the trilogy. No one ever explains why, though. Is it because they're effeminate and/or wear eyeliner? Cringey videos? Young fanbase? Associated with emo? Enlighten me2 points

One of the many things that I liked about the Rev Rad tour was seeing GD laughing and joking at the end of Good Riddance. Here's some examples: This one where Mike and Tre carry Billie off stage 🤣 Mike touching Billies hair, and the boys laughing 😍 The one where Mike and Tre had their masks on 🤣2 points

Mike and Billie’s friendship is everything to me. The way they’ve been there for each other inseparable since they were ten, it’s a big part of the magic behind the band. When Tre came along he immediately clicked and was a third best friend. There’s just a different feel with a band of lifelong best friends versus a band of musicians with members that come and go that don’t particularly like each other. You see it in interviews, performances, their social media. It’s in their body language. Their friendship forms the basis of everything and makes the music more meaningful and deepens the love I feel for this band.2 points

I wonder if singing harmonies/back up to Billie all this time has shaped the way he sings. Their voices really complement each other perfectly and seamlessly.2 points

I particularly love these Billie and Mike pictures. It's so obvious how much they love each other and it's just super sweet! ❤️ And Mike's face in this one is so great!2 points

If you had been following, we covered (haha) this already - it was non alcoholic, as seen by someone who was there. And they are still together, because Adrienne probably has a better idea of his mental state than fans watching him on Youtube do.1 point

That's a great idea! If I can remember, maybe I'll do that too. New album means new tour and I hope this time they don't play Wrigley when they swing by Chicago. I was happy for them when they did it, but I didn't go because I don't think Wrigley is a great venue and I knew I wasn't going to get great seats. I'll be happy if they go with a regular stadium since we probably won't get another club tour for a while.1 point

My secondary school classmates thought liking Green Day was embarrassing because they weren't as emo as the superior My Chemical Romance But that's definitely not the case now. I'd say it is probably that people associate them with their younger, more embarrassing selves but then I hear this vague "I know liking Green Day now is embarrasing, but..." from big fans too, so I don't know. The "protest songs are embarrassing" could be part of it. Also the disdain for anything that got "old" and I suppose Green Day did (to them, anyway) by the second rock opera. I don't get shit for liking them or anything and it wouldn't bother me if I did, but I'm intrigued by this mysterious sentiment that sounds so clear cut, yet no one never explains1 point
-
Yes, middle school is when they were popular among kids my age. It was 21CB era and the emo phase was still going strong. I have a feeling people associate them with their own embarassing middle school selves!1 point
-
This. They were most mainstream during the emo phase and they got lumped together with all that teenage angst. My daughter was a fan in middle school so when she sees me as a fan now she associates GD with her middle school years and tells me I’m acting like I’m 13 by liking them. I think it’s just when most people liked them (10-15 years ago). Or they’re right, because my kids know me and I’ve always been into what others would consider childish things 😂1 point
-
I don't know why though but some bands seem to have more "cred" than others, I think GD are far better than the Foos but they seem to have more "cred" or maybe it doesn't feel like that if you are a Foo fan. Maybe it's more to do with being out of your teens, who knows. At least we aren't all here loving Nickleback who seem to get the most hate. 😂 It will be interesting to see what happens to Muse, I see them beginning to get bad mouthed in the press of late.1 point
-
I think a lot of and "oh you can't like Green Day" comes from the trend in the press to support the underdog but criticise when success strikes. I always feel the British press anyway build people up just so they can enjoy knocking them down. Personally, I feel I am old enough to know better than to care so much about a band, but I do so there! I think the changing face of music doesn't help but then just about every artist gets criticised. I suppose as well, if you don't like a band then we seem to not just say I don't like them, we say their rubbish or something. I am very rude about the "pop princess" thing, and artists like Ed Sheeran etc. Yeeeuuuch. 😂1 point
-
Well, the odds are that either you'd end up with a tattoo with a cool story or it peels off. That's not too much of a risk. As far as we know nothing worse happened to Billie tattoos. I have no idea but I'm hesitant to admit I'm a fan because I expect people to think it's embarrassing. It doesn't make any sense though, because Green Day have never done anything that bad to warrant this reputation. Seems to me that they were seen as a kids band for a long time. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw revrad get really positive reception in serious "grownup" media, so maybe it's changing?1 point

Agreed. I think friendship, especially pre-fame, going back to childhood, is one of the most important elements to keeping a band going. You look at a band like GD or Muse, where they've all been friends forever, and you know they're not going to break up (knocking on wood so I don't jinx that now). Whereas a band like Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles, you have breakups, members coming and going, etc. It's just not the same bond.1 point

Today I have been fangirling over this photo, we don't get to see his bare back very often. So smooth and hairless ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and I'm sure as soft as his hands, you girls are so lucky you've had chance to hold them 😍😍1 point

I particularly love that one with Mike in the background looking at Billie. I know we talk loads about Billie and what an awesome front man he is, but I wonder if there are times when Mike and Tre are like "wow, when did that happen", do you think maybe sometimes they can't quite believe it themselves, especially given the conversation that is supposed to have happened between Mike and Billie about who would front the band?1 point
