  3. Idk everything screams to believe her, I always believe someone when they come forward. He was creepy from the beginning and has always been an asshole, not that that's evidence but it certainly doesn't put him in my list of favorite people. One thing is for sure, he is very immature and his behavior alone that we do know of I would not want associated with MY band personally. I'm just saying... I would not be upset if Jeff were to get kicked out šŸ™‚

  4. I think it's kind of supposed to be immature though, it's a fun song with a bit of a dark tongue in cheek twist. It isn't meant seriously

  5. I know a lot about Prednisone because my daughter has to take it on & off for an autoimmune disorder. At a low to medium dose it takes over a month to get the puffiness. For a larger dose 2-3 weeks. For asthma flare-ups itā€™s only given for about 2 weeks at a pretty low dose. So I think Billieā€™s puffiness at that point was too much good tour food.

  6. Every time is weird. The world is weird. I agree. Trust me, when looking back over the few decades Iā€™ve been alive, each one was weirder than the next. Sometimes it takes space to see it. Look at the 80s. Was that not? Ha. Now I love me some Wham! but overproduced and strange to the core. I love weird. or the 70s? 90s? Now I know the 80s and some 90s stuff is fashionable again, again. (80s have made like 4 come backs but trust me, whatever weā€™re in now will also have a look that you just donā€™t realize yet). Thatā€™s been my experience. In the 90s, I thought every decade had a ā€œlookā€ and the 90s didnā€™t I thought which was clearly wrong. I actually hated that the oughts had no word like ā€œthis is the 80s or 90sā€ and I thought it would return with the teens and it didnā€™t. I wonder if the 20s of the 21st century will be called the 20s or not. Bring back the ā€œrouring 20sā€ where suffragettes, women who fought and won for womenā€™s rights (voting especially) enjoyed their victories. The roaring 20s of the 20th century. What will the roaring 20s of the 21st century bring us. Every decade is pretty weird is the main thesis Canā€™t help but add this to the 1910 Poppins scene. One of my favs.

  8. @LaughingClock I don't actually disagree with you about censorship. I agree that everything being discussed here is tame in comparison to what else is out there, too. I wouldn't say that in context, Billie has ever written anything truly "offensive." Some people would argue that Platypus is, but knowing how badly Tim Yohannon treated Green Day evens that out for me. Am I uncomfortable with the sentiment behind I Want Revenge without knowing it doesn't concern a real person? Yeah, which is why I brought it up to see what others thought, but I don't think that means it should be censored or even that it's seriously offensive. I just don't personally agree with it. Art shouldn't be censored because it makes people uncomfortable. Just as people questioning art shouldn't be censored because others don't want to hear it, either. Anyway... I love stuff like this because it makes me feel like a proud parent Like when we watched Varsity Blues and I had to take a photo of this, even though Nice Guys Finish Last was the only reason we watched it

  9. šŸ˜‚ Welcome back dude. Couldnā€™t stay away for long could ya? I agree that once we start judging song lyrics it gets ridiculous. Next thing weā€™ll be going all Tipper Gore and putting warning stickers on everything to protect impressionable young minds. Wonā€™t somebody think of the children?!

  10. Really?! Its out of control. What about this song by the Beatles? Now here is a song on one of the most highly acclaimed albums of all time in the late 60s, that sounds whimsical and happy but what itā€™s really about is a serial killer who goes and kills everyone he meets. Keep in mind that this was written by Sir Paul who is the less edgy one. He usually writes love songs and slow songs and this one sounds like ā€œWhen Iā€™m 64ā€ so it escaped a lot of people but if you listen to each line, you will see that this song is about a serial killer named Maxwell who liked to kill his victims with his silver hammer. Have we regressed to pre 60s censorship. Paul McCartney could hardly be pegged as anything but a lover and a gentleman but here he is writing a song about a guy who goes out on excursions with people to kill them dead, and thatā€™s fine. What about Brain Stew? That song is about doing amphetamines (crosstops). Itā€™s called art and is not supposed to be censored or taken at its face value, just like if you see a film or play a video game. Itā€™s entertainment when we are talking about song lyrics.

  11. I don't want to judge either Jeff or Kaylie, like @Second favourite son said, I just want to share my experience, my thoughts and my impressions. I was in the same situation as Kaylie with my ex, who didn't harass me a week... but a year and a half, with many texts every day the first weeks, until it got up to a text every few days; all undesired, and which I never replied to, not one. Because I knew he was too heartbroken, I knew there was nothing to do about it. I had just broken up with him, didn't cheat on him. I filled a police report after the first few weeks because "I couldn't take it anymore", like Kaylie. I was angry against him. I felt compassion though, I knew he was hurt and I didn't mean to (and I didn't expect that extreme reaction) but I didn't feel like he had compassion towards me on the other hand, he kept harassing me. Luckily none of us were very social media, it was our private relationship from beginning to end, no reason to share it anywhere on internet. I ended up blocking his number and leave him to deal with his feelings, like I dealt with mine. Now, about police reports, it's true (at least in France it is) that you won't get any court for that kind of thing. And with the hindsight, that's a good thing. Jeff is not a criminal. He was probably very hurt, even more after he had shared all their romance on social media, which was not smart. But now that he stopped, it's Kaylie who shares this stuff on social media. Even private stuff like texts. Maybe itā€™s an overreaction after the GD fans threatened her (and these are the only really bad people in this, to stupidly threaten her because theyā€™re GD fans and donā€™t understand that you are simply very hurt after being left behind). I remember that even I was feeling threatened physically, with only my ex's texts, so... I understand that, and I think she is doing this to at least feel protected. But it's also using the same way Jeff used to accuse her in the first place... and giving too much importance to all this. It doesnā€™t help either of them to move on. Disabling followers on her Instagram, itā€™s all social media war, itā€™s dumb. Everybody's saying Jeff is immature, maybe he is, he is most of all heart broken because he's the one who's been left, and he deserves compassion as well for that alone. Both deserve compassion. She is not acting very adult herself to continue giving a life to this on her social media. If she decides (like I did with my ex) not to respond to him, but if she does it only to post his monologue to her on social media to prove him wrong, she may want to reverse the power relation, (because supposedly heā€™ll get all the support for being famousā€¦ which I think is wrong given what I could read only here, she probably gets the most support overall now, among GD and non-GD fans) while the best thing to do would be to stop the social media spreading and not to give us to know anything to prove anyone right or wrong. Once again he was the one who brought it up but also the one who was initially hurt, and being a celebrity doesn't seem to play in his favor even among us GD fans, because she gets sympathy as a young non-famous woman, which is good, but not when it's made a point against him just because he is famous, and was supposedly using fame to get to her... he apologized, and the fact he deleted his apologies doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't sincere, it may also be a way of saying that he recognizes this whole affair should never had been brought up publicly, and wants to end it privately. But she's only blowing on the embers. I don't know her and perhaps all she gives us to show is real, but even then it only seems to me like a desperate, sad man (age isnā€™t meaningful in relationship feelings, I donā€™t think so) who's been left alone and feels terrible about it. Once again, maybe she does it because she still feels threatened not by Jeff himself, but by the people who directly threatened her, but if he ever sees what she's been posting, I don't think it will help him stop to text her. It took my ex one year and a half to stop while nothing happened from my part. Yeah, he contacted my friends too and I was very angry, even more since my friends seemed to pity him. But I think overall, I had the good role, I wasnā€™t suffering like he was. Okay, guys can be very childish when being left behind... but no, he's not a criminal, and for me, there's no way he deserves to be kicked out of Green Day for that. It's not up to us to decide that anyways.

  12. Don't remember ever seeing this one before. Billie recording Dookie at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, where he also recorded Look For Love. ā€˜Fantasy Studios definitely had that Seventies coke-y vibe, mahogany and strange dead wood around the place. We would go into the vaults and see all of Creedence Clearwater Revivalā€™s master tapes. But I felt we belonged there. Our first album cost $700 to make. Kerplunk! was like $1200. ā€œLetā€™s record these as fast as we can ā€“ because we donā€™t have a choice.ā€ This time, I learned how to dial in good sounds, get the best guitar tones. I was able to take a little time doing vocals. I loved that experience.ā€™ (source)

  14. That's interesting! It could be about being the "minority" so to speak. I've said this many times but that's one of the things I love about Billie's lyrics - how different people can find completely different things in them. I've always interpreted Turn Me Loose as a song about trying to be triumphant in the face of a relationship ending, but then I also hear a few of the lyrics differently like "pride" being "bride": "Don't let your ponytail get out of line, I got a feeling on my mind," stop and pay attention to me, because I have something to say; "I'm on the spectrum and the borderline, I got the shakes but I'm alright," I'm dealing with my own issues but I'm alright, already trying to insist he's fine despite how the person has made him feel, when in reality he isn't. "Turn me loose, I'm only gonna stagger," meaning you can leave me, I'll only "stagger," it won't hurt too much; "April fool's and I'm not a runner," I'm already a fool anyway, so whatever; just "don't call me a loser with dumb tattoos" and hurt me, but "it doesn't matter," pretending he doesn't care, which is kind of sarcastic because he's just admitted he does. "I'll go down swinging for the final line," I'll fight for myself until the end; "I'm not the rebel for my bride," I'm a rebel for myself and not for you; "just for the record and the afterlife, I'll take a beating not a dive," I'll take a beating but I won't be knocked down. That could also link back to Fell For You - "steal a kiss and I took a dive" - saying that this time I won't take a dive for you. Finally, because it's kind of bluster and he is hurting really, he sings "I'm gonna make a racket, I'm gonna start a riot, I'm gonna make you crash and burn," saying he's going to break the person's heart in return. That one isn't so different to your interpretation of "fuck you, I'm going to do whatever I want that's considered bad anyway," just a different subject. I don't actually think it's an immature song. He's playing with the concept of immaturity in the "crash and burn" line but mocking and embracing it. I guess you could say the exact same thing about I Want Revenge, but tbh I don't think it's even serious enough for any kind of concept like mocking immaturity. And Turn Me Loose is absolutely a greater piece of art than I Want Revenge My favourite Longshot song. I don't think they can even be compared.

  15. Well then, now that I know everything there is to know about prednisone haha, letā€™s fangirl on this beautiful Friday morning!! I agree with everyoneā€™s comments about 80 at the NYE party. She looked positively stunning!! And of course Billie did as well because, well, itā€™s Billie. I am SO beyond happy with the black hair. Itā€™s my favorite! And since I know at least some of you will appreciate it, can we please talk about Tre and his new baby?? So adorable!! The whole family looks so over the moon happy šŸ˜

  16. (shifting into a quick analysis of TML here) I never really thought that line meant that , to me the whole song Turn Me Loose is more about praising to be an outcast, unruly in society (don't let your ponytail get out of line, ironically because he is in fact out of line and wants to stays so), the insecure feeling of it (I'm on the spectrum and the borderline, I got the shakes but I'm alive - my fave line, very RevRad-esque) and about the "loser" but accepted side of being a rebel (I'm gonna swinging for the foul line, I'm not a rebel for my pride). The line "I'll take a beating not a dive" is funny because it's during that precise song that Billie used to dive in the crowd during the Longshot gigs . So the whole song is kinda sarcastic - the whole album is, I remember when thy did The last Time, Billie said "there is no fucking last time, this song is called The Last Time", and right before they played Happiness, Billie called us miserable bastards, denying that we could really be happy, tripping on ourselves as we were in the pit. So I feel that they are many lines including the last ones in Turn me Loose that I'd mentioned in the first post, where he's not actually thinking of making a racket, starting a riot and making someone cash and burn, to me it's a metaphoric way to say something like "I'm gonna do everything that's considered bad, and fuck you, deal with it". From the first time I heard it felt to me like an echo to Reject in Nimrod, "sucking up your social sect, making you a nervous wreck", even though the two songs are very different, I felt like there was a common thread in both, the first time he's singing about it angrily as a young adult, and the second time he's just making fun of it (I could be totally wrong in this). Even though some terms are in themselves less "mature" in Turn Me Loose, the use he makes of them can precisely be mature, if that makes sense (I think that's where we both differ, when taking about a song that's seemingly, literally immature. I believe it's most of time purely sarcastic. Just in passing for me TML is a much greater piece of art than I want revenge ). The song is like a happy conclusion to the album, like finding some happiness in feeling like a loser, and it's the most joyful-sounding, and even the most joyful lyrically to me. I could be wrong, but I admit I never had the feeling he spoke about love specifically in that song (on the contrary to other songs on LIFL). Although, thinking about it, these three last lines of the song could be a metaphor for stealing someone's heart (racket) and breaking it, but I don't relate it much to the rest of the song; apart from that April Fools reference, only because in Loss of control he speaks explicitly about a loser falling in love "April Fools, thought you fall in love". In Turn Me Loose the context is "I'm only gonna stagger (which he tended to replace by swagger live, which has kind of an opposite meaning, but one doesn't prevent the other when you think of it), and April Fools but I'm not a runner". I'm not sure what it means, but I have the feeling that 'I'm not a runner" is a kind of way to say "I won't even try, because I'm a loser" (and he's fine with it). It could be "I'm not a runner to be another April Fools" like he sang in Loss of control, like a way of saying "I won't try and fall in love again, it's useless" . Funny how we can make endless connections between the songs. That's true, and a real shame!

  18. Not to bring the conversation back around, but I too have thought about what it would be like to have Billie be my first kiss. Regarding the prednisone, when I watched that interview I immediately was reminded of what I learned about it in one of my biology major classes and thought "No, Billie! It's not awesome! You should be careful with that; it can have some nasty side effects!" I also want to say that I love his black hair! I like it blond too, but black is where it's at. He just looks stunning!

  19. I suppose it depends on whether the song is really targeting someone but we'll probably never know. It should be possible to discuss it without people jumping to the conclusion that political correctness has gone too far! And obviously it's completely ridiculous to send someone a death threat over their dislike of a record. That seems far more out of control.
    2 points
  20. I know the lyrics and the song are about revenge, but it's not actually that explicit. I don't see it as that offensive of a song - maybe part of it's the way it's sung but it almost sounds like a joke. And it sounds like they were having fun. As far as the boys go, Emily's Army had an album out called Don't Be A Dick a few years before this which had some questionable songs on it. I don't think it's an issue, really. They know their kids better than we do.
    2 points
  21. The idea of having a song about wanting to get revenge on/kill someone (described in very mild terms) on a family Christmas album is just a bit of an ironic joke. The kids were teenagers at the time and probably old enough to get that. And it isn't implied to be about a real person, or even any specific character or type of fictional person. So I fail to see the harm in it. The only way it's bad is if you add extra meanings to it yourself (eg if it was specifically about stalking a girl), the actual lyrics are so vague that they don't really bring anything as disturbing as that to mind.
    2 points
  22. Honestly, we shouldn't even be talking about it. Kaylie's Instagram is private therefore her posts should never have been posted here. Jeff was a dick to try and make it public in the first place, but other than that we really shouldn't be commenting on it. It's not our place to speculate or judge or make assumptions, especially when we don't know/can't be certain exactly what is happening anyway. It should be between them and the legal authorities, and I hope they get it sorted.

  23. Had such a fucking weird dream last night. I dreamed that a hotel had been built and it had a motorway going straight through the middle of it, and there was like a mini golf course going from one side of the hotel to the other straight across the motorway. Me, Billie, 80, and this other couple I didn't know were all playing mini golf and thankfully we all managed to get through the course without getting hit by any cars. There was a restaurant at the end of the course, and because I was on my own Billie and 80 let me tag along with them. I felt awkward as hell being the third wheel, but I must admit that seeing how Billie and 80 speak to each other in everyday life was adorable. So we were eating dinner, and the next thing I know, everyone apart from me and Billie has disappeared, and there was suddenly a cage hanging from the chandelier above with some young kids trapped inside. Then a dragon randomly appeared (like, what the fuck?) and started trying to kill us, so me and Billie had to rescue the trapped kids and then get the hell out of there. Looking back on some of the dreams I've posted in this thread (including this one), y'all must think I'm mad.

  24. This is what I think the big point of disagreement is. Everyone has different thresholds for evidence theyā€™ll accept. Some (most here) are ok with the evidence probably being true because thereā€™s no major reason for it not to be. Others want more concrete evidence that cannot feasibly be falsified ( @neverdone2000 being the prime example here). The problem with posting some evidence on social media is there will always be people who want more, and thereā€™ll always be people who donā€™t, and these people wonā€™t agree. I like to see myself in a third camp: I have no reason to disbelieve the allegations that Kalieā€™s made, but thereā€™s also the possibility that they are not quite what they seem (itā€™s so easy to doctor or cherrypick evidence from screenshots that it might not tell the whole story, even if not a lie). We should not disbelieve Kalie, who needs support at this time, not animosity. But we should also not instantly demonise Jeff for things we havenā€™t seen that have happened in private. In court, the defence has the chance to look at all the evidence beforehand in order to be able to explain their side. Thatā€™s because even the worst looking things can have fair explanations, and we shouldnā€™t pass judgement on evidence from one side that hasnā€™t even had the opportunity to be addressed by the other side. I absolutely agree with this. Which is why itā€™s problematic releasing some evidence into the public domain. For the many whoā€™ll want more, the level they want will never be released. Not saying sheā€™s wrong to have done it, there are many good reasons for it. But it does create problems like this one. I donā€™t see why the age gap matters so much. The alleged behaviour is wrong whether sheā€™s 22 or 82. Linking vulnerability to age in a relationship between two consenting adults in the absence of other factors can create so many problems for those who are older and in similar situations, who may feel disempowered because ā€˜theyā€™re older and should know betterā€™. (Not @ you, Hermione just needed an example to quote). This is a difficult situation for all involved, whose actual real lives are being affected by this situation. This thread is public, and we should all remember that these are real people with real feelings when posting. TL;DR: We donā€™t know everything that has happened in private, so we should be respectful towards and supportive of Kalie, but also careful not to pass judgement too soon on Jeff.

  25. I know in one deleted tweet he said he only wants to talk to her to get an explanation and she ghosted him. If itā€™s a power thing, he may not be taking to being ghosted very kindly and the lack of answers is making him angry and crazy. Not a defense, just a possible explanation from his side of his behavior.

  26. Or Kalie has removed her. I've definitely been removed, and so have many others that I follow. She's also private account again now, so hopefully she can ditch all the GD fans and go back to a private life. We don't know what she did in the beginning, we don't know what he did in the beginning. We know he was wrong on twitter. We know she loves the attention she gets from her stories (of mundane everyday stuff, and there's no issue here). Jeff calling her every day, up to 7 times, isn't pleasant I agree, but it's typical 'I want you back' behaviour, and we don't know it was going to be nasty. We don't have proof of what she said about what he is doing. IF Jeff is doing these things, then, yes his position should be considered. However, he may be the victim of this latest set of stuff (not the twitter stuff, we know that!)

  27. But isn't you asking Jeff to be called out on this legit harassment as well? It is a situation you are not involved with. Jeff was wrong to make this public and so is she. She needs to call the police, not post her personal messages on social media asking people to call him out. It is the same thing he did to her.

  34. He responded to someone on Twitter that it was for asthma. There were a few mentions of people seeing him take oxygen or use an inhaler on the side of the stage at the Ohio shows. As for side effects, I remember people wondering if that was why he had a couple extra pounds that summer.

  35. Again, what you ā€œsawā€ on the one side was just some Internet postings from people you donā€™t even know. Nobody knows the totality of what was going on except those involved. Life isnā€™t black-and-white, ā€œone person is right, one person is wrong.ā€ If only it was that simple. Iā€™m not saying Jeffā€™s actions make sense or are defensible by any means, but if he hadnā€™t apparently rallied fans online to harass her, and only posted about being cheated on, for example, everyone might be rushing to his defense and calling him the victim when bullying could still be happening behind the scenes. I highly doubt a nasty breakup that got aired online is going to jeopardize someoneā€™s position as a Green Day touring guitarist most people have never heard of and it amazes me that anyone would feel personally at risk from it.

  38. ^^ I love all the live Instagram he did during RevRad. It was so adorable. He looks very good with glasses, even large ones like these. You make me think of old gifs I made about these lives some time ago: The second one was when he was vaping supposedly Prednisone he talked about the same day, during the Wrigley Field press conference, and like a dummy, shortly after I saw that I bought Prednisone on an obscure online market to test it I really loved that late summer 2017 GD period, even more since I wasn't able to see one of their shows in the USA then! But it seemed like the best time for them. I made a compilation of Facebook and mostly Instagram lives GD and Billie did since the launch of RevRad to mid 2018 with the Longshot, it's nearly 2h long, it's like a great memory movie

  41. Had a dream last night that I went to a Longshot show, but it wasn't a typical show with a stage and everyone standing up etc, it was a show in a hotel conference room and the staff had put chairs out for everyone coming to the show. I got a seat directly in front of where Billie would be, but before he came out to play the show I started panicking about sitting that close to him and went and sat at the back instead. The Longshot came on and the show went as normal, until Billie invited a girl up to sing. She had written her own song and shown it to him earlier, and he'd tried to learn it and now he wanted to play it. Whilst he was distracted with this, I decided to move back to the front as nobody had taken my seat. When I was at the front, Billie kept looking at me funny, and after a while I realised my face was bleeding. I'd been attacked by an evil cat just before the show and somehow hadn't realised that it had ripped half my face to shreds. Billie had been attacked by the same cat and his leg was bleeding pretty badly at this point so he decided to stop the show there, and that's when I woke up. I also had another dream where Billie was shooting a movie and he kept posting random photos from the film shoot on Instagram. None of us knew what the movie was gonna be about though, so the photos he posted were so out of context and everyone was just confused as fuck. The only photos I remember him posting was one where he was tied to a bed , and one that had been taken in the other room of the restaurant that I was literally sitting in when he posted it. I tried to go into the other part of the restaurant to see if he was there, but it was blocked off.

Fans have made this connection and I'm assuming he must have at least heard of it being from the Bay Area and a worldly guy and that it's most likely where he got the idea from, but he hasn't said anything about it himself. My guess would be it's mostly for aesthetic purposes (makes his bum look good and black goes with his outfits) plus the hanky code connection makes it a bit more cool and subversive, and those are the reasons why he went for the look. But someone should ask him about it in an interview . Kind of surprised no one ever randomly has.

  45. Nothing forces famous people (including Jeff) to be twats on social media. If it wasn't for social media, the public wouldn't find out, so it wouldn't get discussed, but it's always just their own choice if they choose to be assholes.
