It’s an attempt at a ‘medical education’ style tweet. It’s not an unusual format in this part of twitter to say something along the lines of ‘so and so did research on X/here’s a scan showing X/etc. X is [insert random fact]. What is X?’ Edit: Apparently Billie is literally a case study in a textbook: reddit Seems unfair that he’s probably in that book without any consent whatsoever. There are a lot of consent forms that need filling out if a normal patient is included in a published work, so why should it be any different for a celebrity? Arguably their information is already in the public domain, but that doesn’t remove a most of the key ethical principles behind asking for consent to publish).7 points

He's mentioned anxiety and panic attacks in multiple interviews. I forgot what interview this originally came from, but it mentions the social anxiety- He said: "I love it. I was having all these crazy neurotic thoughts like, 'I hope I remember how to play guitar and how to sing', but then as soon as you get up there, it's just intoxicating to feed off the energy and adrenaline that's going on in the crowd, and to be able to remember it all afterwards." The 'American Idiot' hitmaker admitted he turned to drink and drugs to mask his social anxiety. He said: "I definitely suffer from my own forms of neuroses and depression and phobias. "I always feel like the most awkward person when I'm in a crowded room. I have social anxieties and stuff like that, and I used drugs and booze to take care of that." Edit- looks like it was Q magazine, 2016.5 points

I agree with both @Second favourite son And @Jane Lannister but if that’s the whole entry, which I think it is as i’ve seen it quoted before, it’s hardly very deep or revealing.5 points

Anyone going after an ex like this should be criticized. Heavily. Maybe social media isn't Always right, but he's hardly a private person with no Power. He's an atleast semi-famous figure displaying very harmful behaviour - to someone who is not. And to the green day fans going after her. Turn it to him. Besides being an ass he's doing some really bad image hurting here when it comes to the band.4 points

My how times have changed. A celebration of that major label album by those traitors?! Green Day isn’t punk! 86 that shit! And now they celebrate it (or use it to profit off of at least — how capitalist) Who had the last laugh? 😄4 points

He’s made quite a few, fairly low key references over the years to having an anxiety disorder, often when talking about Basket Case but also just responding to a question like what does he do to prepare for going on stage and he’ll say something like try to stop form having a panic attack. This is also the guy though who feels that nobody wants to hear him talk about his problems because he’s a successful rock star and I think his blue collar roots make him very wary of sounding like he’s complaining about how difficult life is when he knows what it’s like to be short of money, doing a menial job etc.4 points

Of course it is. There is no way they can continue with the 3rd guitarist and sometimes back up vocalist.3 points

She is though. She has filed a police report and I think after what Jeff has done and is doing to her until this point, I think she has a right to defend herself online where the harassment is happening. She has been quiet on social media up until now, posting about her mood but not giving any details about her fallout with Jeff. In the videos, she says that she wasn't planning on doing it but decided to do so because he has been contacting her family, her friends, her coworkers (apparently he's been calling her workplace every day), even random dudes she follows on social media about her. Part of the reason why she is posting about it now because she, in her words, "can't take it anymore" and wants people to send her proof in case he messages them. It's not really the same.3 points

Kevin in GD, Bill Schneider in the Longshot, and Billie's dogs onstage at all concerts. Sound good? Ooh, or rescue dogs on stage.3 points

But it would make Billie so happy. Could you just see them rolling around the floor like puppies on a Green Day tour? 🥰3 points

This is absolutely disgusting. It’s hard enough in this world without behavior like this from someone who people look up to and ultimately represent Green Day. Bullies are disgusting. I’m glad that’s the general consensus on this. This behavior is terrible, shocking and sad. Airing dirty laundry is one thing, but this girl fears for her safety. This is really sad. I am so over Jeff Matika bullying a woman during or after they broke up no matter what the reason. This is beyond disgusting. If this is at all true. If Jeff is bullying an ex-girlfriend like this and making her fear for her safety: I hope Green Day gets rid of him. And also that Mike Dirnt or Bill Schneider plays bass in the Longshot. Kevin Preston in Green Day. Sorry/not sorry! Jeff Matika will make women feel uncomfortable at Green Day and Longshot shows. That is not cool.3 points

Haha yeah it's good ol' Karl. It might be ironic that Green Day first ruined the scene by selling out and then helped to save it thanks to their generosity until the scene welcomed them back to profit from their work again is pretty funny, but it's awesome to see it coming full circle. I just finished reading a book that claimed there's no such thing as alternative culture because all quality stuff the alternative produces eventually turns mainstream, so people from the alternative scene in fact don't fight mainstream but create it (withought realising it, which makes the alternative scene turn against the aspects of it that became popular). I didn't entirely agree with the thing but yeah, here it is. With the difference that Gilman is now aware of the fact that there's no point in fighting Green Day, inc. It's like...some kind of post-alternative that acknowledges there's no escape from the flow of the market that sometimes turns alt stuff popular while keeping a platform for independent art. It's acceptance of reality - because even Gilman needs money - but also an acknowledment of a failure of its punk politics. It's not Marx but capitalism who's having the last laugh.3 points

^^ I love all the live Instagram he did during RevRad. It was so adorable. He looks very good with glasses, even large ones like these. You make me think of old gifs I made about these lives some time ago: The second one was when he was vaping supposedly Prednisone he talked about the same day, during the Wrigley Field press conference, and like a dummy, shortly after I saw that I bought Prednisone on an obscure online market to test it I really loved that late summer 2017 GD period, even more since I wasn't able to see one of their shows in the USA then! But it seemed like the best time for them. I made a compilation of Facebook and mostly Instagram lives GD and Billie did since the launch of RevRad to mid 2018 with the Longshot, it's nearly 2h long, it's like a great memory movie3 points

With the generosity they have shown towards the punk scene where everything started for them, even after they'd been called sellouts (and worse), Green Day have won the heart of Gilman again, as rockstars and no more as obscure punks. The commercial side is what we see from the outside, bit when Gilman decided to make that shift towards Green Day, I'm sure it was not only a question of money. It was surely recognizance for the help the band provided them without being forced to. Now, whether this is just naive bullshit or not, I think we fans will always have the last laugh, because it's Green Day who wins, in every way. And we can more easily laugh in their place for stuff like that. As for Karl Marx, go to bed . I believe in capitalism (at least the idea of it) just because otherwise, I wouldn't have known Green Day. (This is Karl Marx, right? I didn't check )3 points

Honestly, while I love the blonde, I love the black and he just looked so good on NYE, a bit tanned, relaxed and just awesome 😍😍😍 great start to 2019 👏👏 oh, and my new calendar is pretty awesome too. You get a decent look at Billie’s shoes over on the IG thread, @desertrose posted danmhell’s footage and it’s pretty good quality.3 points

I totally agree, he's not the best choice for a case study because there are others who have done more to raise awareness about anxiety and talked about it more and the way it's written doesn't really tell much of his story other than the classic "a rock star did drugs what a shock". I don't remember what exactly he's said over the years, but I think he's mentioned experiencing performance anxiety and also anxiety in other situations.3 points

If you (or anyone!) wants a link, here you go: It's been a few years so some might not work but you can just search 'green day instrumental' on YT and get them there too3 points

I AM SO MORBIDLY CONFUSED... WHO DO I FANGIRL OVER MORE, BILLIE OR 80?? ugh my little heart is so happy ❤️ (love u blonde Billie but glad to see that black is back!)3 points

Not that I would do it, but it must be good to be self-assured enough to walk up to a stranger and ask them for a kiss. Closest I got was being dared to a game of kiss or slap by a stranger on the street.3 points

I can't believe I just innocently asked about that tie Billie wears in his pocket (and wore one myself like that for fun when I played GD songs in front of people... which I'll think about twice next time ) and that what comes out of it is that Billie probably indicates to his audience being a sub S&M (for the black). If you take into account the polka dots you have grey and it becomes BDSM ... Well, 2019 starts great, to get to know this information...3 points

But isn't you asking Jeff to be called out on this legit harassment as well? It is a situation you are not involved with. Jeff was wrong to make this public and so is she. She needs to call the police, not post her personal messages on social media asking people to call him out. It is the same thing he did to her.2 points

Yeah when Rev Rad came out and he was doing interviews he made it very clear that he used to use drink to deal with awkwardness and anxiety. It was a new album and a new "sober" tour so it seemed like openly explaining that was an alternative strategy to deal with it, he brought it up himself a bunch of times. I don't think he's really gone into enough detail about it to make it a case study but it is a legitimate thing to say about him.2 points
-
I don't remember where but I can picture him quite vividly saying the words "panic disorder" in roughly that context in some interview. Just a hunch but maybe the Spotify documentary? I can't look at it right now. He definitely didn't speak very in-depth about though.2 points

I've been pining so hard today, I've spent hours looking through footage of last night. Wow, to have been there, some amazing people in attendance (although I prefer the atmosphere at a gig!), and Billie, our cute little man. Black hair, which I am loving as it's so nicely done (I do love the blonde too!) and his amazing green eyes, which I could stare into all day long, especially in this picture 💚 and 80, shes so fit too, aghh, it's setting my heart racing and sadness spiking all at once, oh, to have been there or to be in their world and be a part of it all. It makes me genuinely happy though how happy and healthy they all seem to be. That makes my heart melt too. I'm going to shut up now, I've have no-one to fangirl to all day, and it's all built up.... thanks for reading!2 points

OMG, the caption on that first pic. So happy the black hair is back! The blond lasted what, 6 weeks? Also happy that Billie spent New Years with Kevin. 💘2 points
