  2. Jeff made himself the villain publicly because he chose to post about it publicly. Who was wrong in the relationship isn't. our. business. The issue was that he dragged it online and encouraged his followers to attack her. We shouldn't even know about the alleged cheating because he shouldn't have posted about it, being a public figure and her not being. Being hurt in a relationship sucks but he is a famous 47 year old man who caused a non famous 24 year old with a young child to receive death threats, that is the sole reason he's "the bad guy", as he himself has recognised and said sorry for. All I see here now is people getting into name calling and speculation about a private relationship that isn't our business based on very limited and one sided information. Let's all stop shall we

  4. For someone who claims to love and respect women so much you sure waste no time trying to blame the woman who has received detailed death threats as a result of Jeff's "understandable, completely justified" callout for literally everything. She said she had to delete her twitter because Green Day fans told her they would set her house on fire, with her and her toddler son in it. Yeah. I guess a man's emotions and lack of self-control are 100% human and forgivable, but when a woman allegedly talks to other men online (and that's the only thing Jeff claimed she did) she deserves to be burned at the stake and be called a hoe and a bitch and a cunt and a "gold digger" and "hungry for spotlight" and deserves what's coming to her. You don't know who replaced your brain with a pile of steaming hot shit and how long it's been festering there, but you're quite the asshole, my friend. You don't know what happened, you don't know anything about his ex. Sucks for Jeff if what happened is actually true, but he doesn't deserve a hug for what he did because the poor baby boy is not to blame for his emotions and lack of self-control, he deserves a swift kick in his ass. Publicly outing your ex and ecouraging thousands of eager followers to harrass a young hairdresser online, who likely can't afford private security, is not the same as yelling at somebody at a party, and I can't believe this even has to be explained to a man your age. You're not being a hero by bravely stating your opinion here, you're actually giving me more and more reasons to forever stay away from men. In fact, what you wrote in this thread is probably the worst thing I've read since the whole drama started. Congratulations. For what it's worth, I hope someone will be able to remove the stinking turd from your head. Please feel better soon. Women mature earlier than men because they are forced to. Because society punishes girls for acting out at a young age while still babying middle aged men who do the same. Nice self own there, dipshit, you're part of the problem. And you are sexist, your posts have proven that.

  5. Of all the serious issues men face that deserve more attention and anger than they receive, being called out for acting like a teenager at the age of 47 is not one of them. Social media does suck for bringing celebrities' private lives into the public eye. Jeff chose to make this public, though. It wasn't as if TMZ reported it without his consent. Any reactions were as a result of the choice he made to post it. Of course it's awful if she cheated on him and if that's the case I'm truly sorry. I understand that he was upset. It still doesn't justify sending an army of fans desperate for validation after a single parent with no security whose son received threats. There are plenty of men who wouldn't do it - I know my partner and their friends who are his age and in the music industry wouldn't - so there was no excuse for him to do so. It's not a gender based issue. It's not suggesting he isn't a nice person, either. It's just a case of him getting called out for being immature and apologising. No one has argued his apology or "shamed" him since, so there's no need for it to even remain an issue.

  6. I didn't bother mentioning names because the (rather mild) name calling seemed pretty evenly balanced, both LaughingClock and the other people in the argument were starting to resort to name calling/personal comments and all that needs to happen is for everyone to stop the discussion at that point. However it's LC who came into the thread aggressively saying fuck Jeff's ex to start the debate up again so I'm not sure what response would be expected. If you see an "attack" on someone (taking into account their posts directed at other people and the full context of the conversation too) that has been overlooked please report it Otherwise this thread is turning into a shitshow so can it actually stop now? RANDOM GREEN DAY THOUGHTS only please, anyone who wants to discuss anything else use PM

  7. The cheating/relationship part is really none of our business. No way to make a judgement on it only hearing vague details from one side, it's between them. Jeff has been "shamed" for choosing to act like a dick on social media in front of a large number of fans causing them to go after someone. A 47 year old man with a large fan base directing people to attack a non famous 24 year old over a private issue (and no, sexist shit about men being naturally less mature than women - convenient way to excuse childish behaviour in men and condemn it in women - doesn't justify it). Jeff himself has agreed with the "shamers" and apologised as well as expressing that he'd like for people to move on so defending what he posted is unnecessary.

  10. I don’t think anyone said he was lying about who he is, just that no one gives a shit. We’re all equal on this board, it shouldn’t make a bit of difference whether someone “knows” things or not.

  11. First: “working on her” is unbelievably insulting. Hope you’re not surprised your apology wasn’t well-received. Second: A woman’s support group sounds great to me. And hardly a silent majority since several people have disagreed with you. And third: It’s none of our business to comment on who is in the wrong in the relationship, and I don’t care. It was Jeff’s public comments that are getting discussed. I don’t know how many more times it needs to be said.

  13. Had to put it somewhere. Fuck the media. Fuck the fan that shames Jeff for shaming cheating girlfriend. i don’t give a fuck how old she was and he is. Women are as mature as men ever get at 25 then we even do. Take it as a compliment. But shaming Jeff because one women’s rights woman wagged his finger at him, by the way, one of the nicest people you could ever meet. This is why I hate social media. It brings famous or quasi-famous people’s personal lives into your noggin. She deserves everything she got and more. Jeff on a year where he has had incredible personal battles had a girlfriend he busted. Fuck her. Ill say it. This is reverse sexism. Had this happened the other way around and some dude cheated on a girl and the girl was some famous chick, the media would understand but Jeff took the high road and apologized and I am glad he did because that makes him him but fuck that girl. She has every right but if you wanna cheat on Jeff rather than break up with him first than FUCK YOU. Sorry. I represent only my own personal feelings here. http://www.alternativenation.net/green-day-member-calls-out-girlfriend-cheating-on-him/

  14. Not the best argued point. Neglects the fact that while the video acknowledges the man’s reason for enlisting and presents his decision as one that he has thought through and internally justified, his reasoning is instantly shown to be fallacious by his partner’s reaction. The method of debunking the belief held by the male character makes clear the director’s true intention of conveying an anti-war stance - Bayer has used an incredibly emotive response from a young woman, playing on the age-old ‘damsel in distress’ trope to project guilt onto the male lead and create empathy for his female counterpart. This is especially true when considering the intended audience; to the average teenage Green Day fan, a loving relationship with the promise of ‘always’ would likely be seen as far more important than blind patriotism. Likewise, the distressed female lead will create fear that an individual making the same decision could have a similarly devastating effect on their significant other. If Bayer had wanted to convey a pro-war sentiment, he would have used an angry parent, not a distraught partner.

  15. For the second time in recent months Dookie has re-entered the UK rock album chart, this time at #13. It is above American Idiot and God's Favourite Band at numbers #15 and #20 respectively.

  16. I found out that my one of my cousin's best friends has a boyfriend who knows Larry Livermore and my cousin has met him. She's not a huge GD fan like I am, but she doesn't mind them. She told me that tonight because she knows I love GD and Billie. It's like a three degrees of separation thing!

  18. I think he did it with pen ink or something as well (I'll have to find the Before the Lobotomy story about it, it all sounded quite shady). He basically does prison tattoos so I wouldn't want him anywhere near me with a tattoo gun

  20. I can only speak for myself, but personally, I'm ready to drag Billie for what he said about Tim Yohannan because he was simply being a cunt. Same goes for the Steve Jobs comment.
    3 points
  21. Not really, as Hermione and many others have pointed out, as fans it’s none of our business. We shouldn’t be speaking about them at all. It’s about the comments Jeff made encouraging threats towards someone less powerful than him, that’s it.

  22. Life is a little too short to get so angry over people we don't know and a situation we don't know the truth about.
    3 points
  23. Exactly. Like @LaughingClock, I had a real problem with Jeff being publicly made the villain when he was the one who was hurt in the relationship. They were both wrong. But making Jeff out to be the bad guy in this was wrong too. What she did was shitty.

  25. I was just thinking about that the other day with regards to the next album. I know Billie loves the album format and song order is very important to him still — I feel the same, my favorite way to listen to GD is still with each album front to back. But today when bands release albums they put multiple random singles out first sometimes four or five before the whole album is available. To me this ruins the integrity of the album so that by the time you get it you’ve heard half of it and it detracts from the experience of listening to it as a whole. That seems to be a good thing for streaming numbers but bad for “albums” so what will GD do for the next one?

    2 points
  33. I don't have a picture now but I remember when Billie told the story on stage of how he tattooed the lead singer of Kaiser Chiefs Ricky Wilson while on tour (just a plain little arrow on his leg). But later Ricky said in an interview that it like scabbed over and fell off. So going by that and the evidence above I believe his tattoos are basic and low quality

  41. Nothing forces famous people (including Jeff) to be twats on social media. If it wasn't for social media, the public wouldn't find out, so it wouldn't get discussed, but it's always just their own choice if they choose to be assholes.

  42. I sure hope they don’t. There’s something different and special about listening to an album in the order the artist intended. Listening to an album out of order is like looking at a photo of a painting: it’s still great art, but it’s missing something important. I think the biggest problem now is that we’ve gone from it being effort to listen to an album out of order (skipping tracks on vinyl and tape) to it now being harder to listen to it in order (click specifically on track one, in the album, and make sure shuffle’s turned off).

  43. I know I should be happy that this shows how brilliant and timeless Dookie is as an album, but all I can feel is sadness at the death of ‘the album’ at the hands of the shift to downloads and streaming.
