I was wearing my Packers hat on the train home from work the other day when a crowd of pissheads got on. It doesn't even say Green Bay Packers, just Packers. They still thought the Packers and Green Day were the same thing and started shouting "AMERICAN IDIOT!" and "SHE LIKES GREEN DAY!" until one of them went "no, Green BAY PACKERS!" Then they saw the photo of me and Billie onstage on my phone and asked if we were married. England's memory of Green Day is strange.5 points

I think they played Gabriella just once at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa back in August 2011. I remember people describing Gabriella as fast and angry. There was speculation at the time it might have become Amanda because some lyrics were reused: I’m not playing with your mind Unless you think I am You’re crushing my heart Like a battering ram Gabriella I need another fix Don’t need an intervention I’m here to get my kicks Accomplishing your mission Gabriella Don’t shoot the pharmacist We got chemistry It would be a risk If there was honesty You are a dog’s best friend You ain’t no Cinderella You are a thunderstorm I’ll be your umbrella I am the living end I am a dying breed I am a girl’s best friend I am a diamond ring4 points

So I take it he’s throwing us a bone with the Nov/Dec pics. Nov playing around in the studio, Dec writing songs.4 points

can we just appreciate 1990's/Dookie era Billie Joe for a moment ?? that pouty bottom lip sorry for the spam4 points

I just love that that Great Dane makes Billie look so tiny.3 points

Yeah Billie and Tre just lived at the "Longview House" on Ashby Avenue. Mike lived down the road. I don't think Mike ever lived at the warehouse or at least not the same one where Billie lived which was shared with other punk musicians and artists.3 points

Seriously took me a second to even recognize him in that September pic. And the one Longshot member that he didn't post. Tsk, tsk, tsk.3 points

Because I have nothing else to do.... Christian's Inferno is a better song than Youngblood3 points

I'll always laugh at David having to awkwardly squat down to be at Billie and Kevin's height level.3 points

^^ The pictures where he is smiling I started to make some gifs of still breathing vids, at first for myself, then I thought they were kinda sexy actually , worth sharing here: (the 3 gifs are from different 3 videos of the same performance)3 points

That One of My Lies factoid is great. Can't believe I missed it out of my Bay Area history post. I totally just went and added it as if it was there the whole time2 points

I've watched this an unnatural number of times, just for the bit where he pauses and smiles at 80 for a photo. So fucking adorable, his smile melts me ❤️2 points

Ok I jumped to conclusions there. My mind went right to thinking that there were papers on the table which meant writing, but now I think it’s a menu 😂 So in conclusion, Billie is eating and drinking coffee in December 👍👍2 points

I remember this quote about "Wonderful" from the New York Times. It does sound good and I'd love to hear it: "The day after the election, Mr. Armstrong wrote a new song called “Wonderful,” Mr. Vig said. “It was super poppy, sunny, Beach Boys but with fuzzy pop chords,” he said. “It was great. Hundreds of bands would kill to have this song on the record.” Mr. Armstrong, he said, vetoed it, deciding it wouldn’t fit with the rest of the album. “He said, ‘I just had to write it,’ ” Mr. Vig recalled." The November pic is exciting! Scrolling back through the Longshot IG December pic looks like an outtake from the December 8th when he’s out for breakfast and not too exciting. The November pic looks so very promising though!2 points

Yeah I think it's because we have these songs that we know are good but the recordings are so bad they're virtually unlistenable. With the ones we haven't heard we can't even imagine them and don't know if they're good or not but with the badly recorded ones we're just so close to having some good tracks to listen to but can't have them. I also think people are particularly into Minnesota Girl because it's this special romantic song to Adrienne that's kind of mysterious (not properly released and usually only played in Minnesota), if it was actually just a song on an album it probably wouldn't be hyped so much. I would really like to hear that song Wonderful as well though2 points

I agree, but I think they're both great songs that are hard to compare because they're extremely different (although I know they share being often hated on ).2 points

@maryjanewhatsername I’ll always have a soft spot for Dookie era Billie because that’s when I first started getting into Green Day, but I must say the man gets better looking with age!1 point

I get the first reference, but how does the December pic mean / hint at songwriting?1 point

Yeah I think they only played Christian's Inferno at the small shows before the main tour kicked off? I'd have loved to have seen it live too.1 point

I don't really get why fans are so eager to see songs like Minnesota Girl and Olivia on a future album. Or why every new album theory and fake tracklist uses them I think Minnesota Girl is very overrated. I do love Olivia, but they have hundreds of other songs we don't know about that are probably more interesting (and more exciting because they're mysteries). I guess it's just knowing they exist that's so tempting. In that case though I'm more intrigued by songs like Wonderful that nearly ended up on 21st Century Breakdown because I haven't heard them at all.1 point

When you're reading the review of a dog toy, and the statement "helps to clean your dog's chompers" makes you think of the 8,000 discussions we've had about Billie's teeth.1 point

That's the first thing I thought of too! But then I remembered the gum chewing while singing thing. It's about that. lol1 point

Perhaps a little dadbod in the off season or he could have shopped in the big boys department.1 point

@The Bellie I agree with so much that you say above. I also think, in true Billie style that the whole thing about shining a light on the wreckage can be taken quite literally as Billie taking stock on what damage he’s done to his relationships with Adie, his sons and wider family, Mike, Tre, his business reputation and everyone and everything around him. Re Billie discussing the meaning of Still Breathing, watch his body language when he’s asked about it, he really doesn’t want to go into depth about it and I think he’s developed this answer of “it’s just about everyone having to go through stuff” as it’s clearly true but there’s no way, to me, that the song doesn’t say a lot more than that. We know Billie is a very personal writer and also know he often does not want to discuss his lyrics, this is one of his coping mechanisms.1 point

I know right? They had that totally awesome lightning man design right there! And stuck it in the booklet and used the most boring photo ever for the cover. Madness.1 point

I really dislike the cover art to Warning and wish they used the single art for Warning or went with the one people mostly use on youtube thats just the guy getting hit my lightning on a green background instead :v1 point
