I know a lot of people don't like the 1000 hours EP (even Billie said it was too sappy), but I'll always have a soft spot for those early love songs. There's something so endearing about a teenage Billie being totally infatuated with somebody.

If he had a side project he wouldn’t have time to empty his closet 😂 At least he’s using the spare time wisely.

Must be from when Aaron Cometbus apparently gave Mike a makeover (cut off his hair and sleeves) that instantly made him attractive to girls and is a look he's kept until this day

Mike pls I suggest donating it to the rhof museum or preferably hard rock café so people can enjoy the pleasure of watching it while they eat

And the list of fantastic stage to screen adaptions is endless as well. Saying dont do it because it may fail is a pretty defeatist attitude. Especially when the starting material is fantastic

But why? The play is amazing, I've seen it twice and it is the most energetic, fun show I have ever seen. Why would you think the movie would be bad?

The song 1000 Hours is the only one that's just too sappy for me . But I love the other 3 and otherwise I agree, the infatuation/sappiness/totally wearing his heart on his sleeve is very sweet.

I think Back in the USA is my favorite song released since American Idiot. I don't know exactly why but I love it.

St. Jimmy has always been an ageless, timeless metaphor for me, very similar to Mephisto, so it's not important how old the actor is. I agree with @G-L-O-R-I-A, no one could do it better than Billie. He was blowing all the other characters off stage with his energy at his Broadway performance. Do it with Billie or don't do it at all.

I think if (and that's a big if considering all the times Billie has announced something and it's never happened *cough*Forever now video*cough*) the AI movie does happen, I still want Billie to play St. Jimmy. I never saw the character as a particular age, so I don't think that really matters. And in the musical, I think Billie pulled off the character of St. Jimmy better than anyone else, even though he's not the best of actors. That's because St. Jimmy is essentially a part of Billie - it's a character he made up based on certain aspects of himself. Billie knows how to be St. Jimmy better than anyone because he already is. And I think it'd be incredibly stupid not to cast the real life St. Jimmy in the role when he's right there, willing and able. Also, this discussion is making me remember how proud Billie really is of the AI album. The fact that he wants to be so involved in first the musical and now the movie really says a lot. And then all the clips in Broadway Idiot of him getting emotional when it was so well-recieved. Man, he clearly put everything he had into that record and it really payed off. I'm so proud of him.

Yeah, there's quite a few videos from SA last tour, I have watched them a very sad number of times. I think it feels weird because it looks like Billie feels somebody watching him and turn round, so they film the back of someone else's head lol! Oh and Mike really needs to get a side project going....

Also St Jimmy was never even young in the AI musical when it was on Broadway. The regular actor and Billie were in their late thirties, and Melissa Etheridge who played the part for a few shows was in her fifties. In the musical at least it's a separate character that doesn't necessarily have to be young, there to lead JOS/Johnny astray with drugs etc. I agree it probably won't happen anyway though haha.

Or he may have thought yes, I can still do it, it’ll be fine and then once he started thought, oh god, I can’t go on with it knowing he’s in the audience, who knows. Think he’s managed to keep everyone happy though the crowd obviously loved what they got. 😂 it must be quite an interesting relationship at times that Billie has with his in-laws. I didn’t know 80’s dad was a pastor but I knew her mum does something along those lines and publishes theological papers (if that’s the correct term).

When even the most common words/phrases make you think of Green Day. My co-worker said bus route, my mind goes to Nightlife. My boss said whatshername, my mind goes to, well, Whatshername. I read the word kitty, my mind goes to Diesel, Peaches, and Gary. I hear the word hyena on tv, and I burst out laughing because it makes me think of Billie's weird pronunciation of it. I think my brain is hardwired to connect everything to Green Day now.

Not necessarily. He may not have felt that it was such a big deal that he needed to change his own behaviour/change the way he does the show, but may have still wanted to cut it short for some of the reasons I mentioned above or whatever. And I do think he was making a joke of it, but the joke was clearly based on something.

The sass in Mike's post tho. I love how Billie reposted a fan's edit for Mike's birthday. Also, it was nice that they livestreamed so much of the show on both the Longshot account and his billiejoearmstrong.

@Eric If you post here you can expect people to reply to you to comment on/agree with/disagree with what you post. If you're going to be personally offended because someone posts their own opinion in response to yours then don't post it. I don't want to keep seeing you making things personal for no reason. Not everyone likes the same things as you and not everyone dislikes the same things as you, I don't know how that's such a hard concept to grasp.

Insomniac, Dookie and Kerplunk are what I consider "pure Green Day". They just define the band perfectly.
