I think if (and that's a big if considering all the times Billie has announced something and it's never happened *cough*Forever now video*cough*) the AI movie does happen, I still want Billie to play St. Jimmy. I never saw the character as a particular age, so I don't think that really matters. And in the musical, I think Billie pulled off the character of St. Jimmy better than anyone else, even though he's not the best of actors. That's because St. Jimmy is essentially a part of Billie - it's a character he made up based on certain aspects of himself. Billie knows how to be St. Jimmy better than anyone because he already is. And I think it'd be incredibly stupid not to cast the real life St. Jimmy in the role when he's right there, willing and able. Also, this discussion is making me remember how proud Billie really is of the AI album. The fact that he wants to be so involved in first the musical and now the movie really says a lot. And then all the clips in Broadway Idiot of him getting emotional when it was so well-recieved. Man, he clearly put everything he had into that record and it really payed off. I'm so proud of him.8 points

I know it was posted in the old thread, but I love the analysis of Billie's personality with his physic. Green eyes and full lips...5 points

I totally agree Billie would be great in the role of St Jimmy in a film.....but even if he wouldn't let's be real I'd still want him to play it because seeing Billie acting good or bad is glorious . I'd be 100x more interested in seeing an AI film if he was in it.4 points

Yeah, he has a beautiful jawline once he stretches his neck so that the chin(s) isn't/aren't in the way and we get to see it I'm only joking, of course. You all know that I love the chin(s)4 points

Yeah, not a fan of filming/taking pictures of people when they don't know about it or without their consent (I don't even like it when my dad takes pictures of me without asking, let alone a stranger). Pretty creepy and disrespectful tbh. It's not seen as acceptable if it's a non-celebrity, so I hate that people think it's okay if it's a famous person. Celebrities are humans too.4 points

I know it's wishful thinking but what with Billie putting so much into the Longshot right now I'd really love it if Mike got the Frustrators back together.3 points

While it’s nice tosee him,it’s a little weird to film people as they are boarding their plane like that, or isn’t that just me?3 points

I remember there was one show in either the Warning or Pop Disaster era where after HAR, Billie was like "I'd like to apologize to my father-in-law." Edit- found it.3 points

It sounded like he was infatuated with everybody2 points

And I think they know that which is why the role would be his if he wanted it.2 points

St. Jimmy has always been an ageless, timeless metaphor for me, very similar to Mephisto, so it's not important how old the actor is. I agree with @G-L-O-R-I-A, no one could do it better than Billie. He was blowing all the other characters off stage with his energy at his Broadway performance. Do it with Billie or don't do it at all.2 points

I've heard her dad is too, only heard that about her mum recently. Maybe they both are. Either way, minister or minister's husband is still quite an appropriate person to apologise for masturbating in front of That diagram is adorable2 points

Not sure what her dad does but yeah I thought it was her mom that was a minister.2 points

Wait... all three of these are from the RevRad era?! Because in the first one he looks EXACTLY like he did in the American Idiot era. That was 14 fucking years ago! HOW?!! HOW DOES HE STILL LOOK THE SAME?! He's like a god damn Lord of the Rings elf that never ages. And no one can argue that it's because of makeup. He wears makeup at pretty much every gig so there's a baseline to go off of and even so, makeup can only hide so much. He's definitely a very special person and it just makes him that much more amazing.2 points

Oooh that red tie! I love it when he wears red on black. There's something so sexy about it!2 points

I dont believe that AI Movie is gonna happen atleast with Billie Joe starring as St. Jimmy. He is just way too old for that already.2 points

Jeff Matika At Green Day break, guitarist sheds light on local talent. Jeff Matika moved to Little Rock in 1991. "I kind of thought this was going to be a stepping stone," he said recently. "I'd come here for a couple of years and figure out where I wanted to go." He fell into the music scene, playing shows and hanging out at Vino's until he got a job there, which he kept for 10 years. He toured the country in beloved local bands like Ashtray Babyhead and the Magic Cropdusters, before settling down in the 2000s with an IT job. "I had decided, I'm going to play music forever," he said, "but as a casual thing." Then he got a call from Green Day. His old friend Jason White, a Little Rock native, had been playing with the band for a decade, and when they decided they needed a touring guitarist, Matika's name came up. He was flown out to Los Angeles and spent a panic-stricken night practicing Green Day songs in a hotel room. His tryout lasted two weeks. "I figured the worst that could happen was I'd get a cool vacation out of this," Matika said. A few months later he was playing the season finale of "Saturday Night Live," sharing a cramped backstage with Tom Hanks and Will Ferrell. "For me, the big stages are almost not real," he says of his time with the band. "It's just so ridiculous. To play stadiums in Europe, with thousands of people, it's just kind of a blur. Somebody may be looking at me every once in a while, but the chances of me making eye contact with anyone are slim." It's a long way from Vino's, but Matika found himself missing his hometown venue. Now that Green Day is on break for at least the remainder of the year, he's taken over Vino's booking and hopes to revive some of the '90s spirit of the place. He remembers it as a linchpin of the local music community, a space where young bands who "didn't really have their stuff together" could develop, and though he's aware that "times have changed," he wants to do his part. He's also started a booking agency, The Poison Shop, through which he hopes he can encourage artists "willing and able to work" to think broader than the local scene. So far, he's working with Bonnie Montgomery, Kevin Kerby, Peckerwolf and Whale Fire, though he knows there are plenty more out there ready for the road. "People need to hear these bands," he said. "They need to get out of Little Rock occasionally and take it to the masses." When he's on vacation from his role as part of the biggest rock band in the world, he's committed to giving back to the Little Rock scene. "I don't know how long it's going to take to get a foothold on this and get things going again," he said, "but I've got time." The Dearly Beloved part of JOS blows me away every time I hear it. I mean, the entire song is pretty on point, but I love that section of it so fucking much. The lyrics and Billie's voice and the way he sings it. Just wow.1 point

I know a lot of people don't like the 1000 hours EP (even Billie said it was too sappy), but I'll always have a soft spot for those early love songs. There's something so endearing about a teenage Billie being totally infatuated with somebody.1 point

God, I remember that when it first came out, it's the first time I realised I wasn't alone in having a real thing about Billie's jawline, of all that's beautiful about him, his cheekcbone/jaw structure just floats my boat!1 point

He says hi-e-na but what you’re not hearing is an “a”. So it’s not “I am a hee-na” it’s “I am hy-e-na”1 point

I think Billie can do it but I just don't think the movie is happening at all.1 point

There’s another photo of Billie with a fan yesterday at the Oakland airport, so I’m assuming he was flying home from LA in this video. (I’ll post it in the fan photos thread). Edit: desert rose posted the photo in the fan thread already.1 point

My mam was just doing this quiz on Sporcle and she was surprised to see Mike and Tre in it: https://www.sporcle.com/games/some_bloke/stage-names-of-musicians It's weird that Mike and Tre were included among a load of other people who are famous for having stage names. I didn't think many people would know Mike or Tre's real names (and I looked at the results stats and both Mike and Tre were in the bottom 5, so I must be right). The creator must be a GD fan for sure.1 point

Yeah, I'm not saying his father-in-law didn't know him/was shocked. I'm just saying maybe the reason he cut it short (he stopped pretty abruptly, and usually it goes on longer) was because maybe his father-in-law doesn't have that kind of humour/doesn't like that stuff and Billie knew that and was being respectful, or maybe he felt more awkward knowing his father-in-law was there watching when usually it's just strangers in the crowd. Or it could've been something else, but to me, it feels like the "thing" was cut short and since Billie mentions his father-in-law straight afterwards, I'm inclined to believe it was something to do with that.1 point

It was one of the first songs that hooked me in too. The lyrics are genius.1 point

I was watching Green Day perform East Jesus Nowhere on Letterman during lunch and it made me smile so much. I have so many great memories associated with the 21CB era. I still remember skipping class the day it came out and heading to Hot Topic to pick up the CD and the shirt. And when I got back to my dorm, I put it on and I had this sense of pride. I was so proud of the boys for making another excellent record. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I loved it and I still like the album a lot. Plus, I love the way Billie points when he says "your confession will be crucified."1 point

I think @Jane Lannister you mentioned in the Longshot thread that Billie was obsessed with piss? This proves you right:1 point

Just occurred to me that Billie has played I Fought the Law with Green Day, FBHT, The Coverups, and The Longshot. I can't think of any other song that he's played with that many of his bands.1 point

@Eric If you post here you can expect people to reply to you to comment on/agree with/disagree with what you post. If you're going to be personally offended because someone posts their own opinion in response to yours then don't post it. I don't want to keep seeing you making things personal for no reason. Not everyone likes the same things as you and not everyone dislikes the same things as you, I don't know how that's such a hard concept to grasp.1 point
