I would really love if they performed Say Goodbye live, too.5 points

Yeah, the title track is such a disappointment to me, the lines that actually make sense are just a bunch of revolution clichés that say "yeah, let's go out and fight" without actually doing it. Bang Bang, however, I will never say a bad word against because I loved it since it first played on the radio, I honestly think it's one of the best punk songs anyone's written in quite some time, it's just such a disappointment that the rest of the album didn't follow suit.4 points

I'd easily take JoS over SN or FN, they may all be big anthemic songs but to me JoS is just so much better lyrically and I just feel a lot more real passion in it, like SN and FN might have sound big and strong but that feels kinda hollow to me because the actual content isn't a well-made enough statement to deserve it. Sure, they're clearly honest, but it's written such on-the-nose and simplistic terms, which isn't a bad thing in itself but you then need a hell of a lot of fire to back it up (Stiff Little Fingers, who influenced Billie a hell of a lot, have always stated things plainly in their lyrics, but it doesn't come off as simplistic because of the emotion they put into saying it and playing it). A lot of Nimrod is straightforward, honest and personal, but to me those tracks do it so much better than FN or SN by not trying too hard to get specific talking-points in and not trying to be these big great anthems.4 points

Found a picture of Hobo Billie I’ve never seen 🙂 This made my day. And this is the look I’m voting on for the Coverups shows 😍😍😍:3 points

Jumping right in here but having been pretty indifferent about JOS and then seeing it in the musical setting (edit to clarify: where it works so much better) I'm 100% for dropping it from the live set. It's too long, especially at that point in the set. Forever Now must stay, well, forever. Apart from being one of the best songs they've made in years, it's worth keeping purely to watch Billie losing himself in that part from ~7-7.25 in the video above3 points

They could always skip Shout and have Forever Now, JOS and Homecoming3 points

I think that RevRad being written before Trump's election is important to note. I know I already feel like we are living in an entirely different world than 2 years ago, when GD were writing and producing revrad. The album feels safe, but coming off the Obama years, there was a safe feeling at the time. The album has an essence that change is going to come, and desire for that revolution, but in real life, the revolution went the wrong way, and the wrong side won. We aren't living in troubled times anymore, we're living in the freaking upsidedown. However, the last year or so has been filled with grassroot efforts, protest, and resistance, and I think Billie is going to have something to say/reflect back about what is happening right now. Artistically, I can't see him sitting on the sidelines without some sort of societal commentary. So I think whatever comes next musically, lyrically, creatively will come from this place. It's hard to say if it will be the masterpiece we're all looking for, but I don't think he writes his music for us; like any artist, it comes from within, and once it's out there, then I guess we will see. I know I'm looking forward to it.2 points

That's one of my favourite pics of hobo Billie. I love how he's just writing songs in the car. As for the Coverups show, I really don't mind what he wears, I know he'll look fabulous no matter what. Ideally, I'd like him to play the entire show naked, but there's a 99.99999999% chance that that won't happen so...2 points

This. Especially the song RevRad. I actually was impressed with some political comments on the album, but slightly disapointed. But I get why they didn't say much; it was overwhelming. Can't judge that. They already did AI, too. That's real fire. I feel they could have done something different with this album, but i feel that then they wouldn't have done what they needed to do. This felt necessary for them.2 points

To say they sold their souls is bullshit, but I do agree that RevRad is a lot more empty words than I was hoping, they could follow in the footsteps of the Clash or Crass or Dead Kennedys but so far it's really still just a lot of big talk and no real fire.2 points

They could replace Holiday with it, perfect I don't actually have anything against live AI songs, they just play too many of them and it makes the setlist unbalanced. See also Dookie. I know they'll always play the most songs from those albums as they're the biggest or whatever but they really don't need to hang on to every song to the point of cutting out whole other albums before they'll sacrifice a single one. It's overkill.2 points

I'd be so Billie to wear a t-shirt now that it's winter/early spring. I know the gig is indoors and California has a rather mild climate this time of the year anyway but I could totally imagine him dressing reverse to the actual season And it's an absolute yes to lots of skin2 points

It was the hip hop trio Migos on last night’s SNL. Looks like he was just hanging out and watching it and wanted to share. (Billie, next time flip the camera for a second and say hi as well 🙂)2 points

No, please not that awful moustache on that lovely face! Bad enough if Mike keeps his beard. I think for Billie: shortish hair clean shaven or stubble at most new jacket plain shirt2 points

With not one but two Coverups shows this week, I think we can thankfully say that this Energizer Bunny is not slowing down anytime soon. Love you boi!2 points

You know how I feel about that How many American Idiot songs do they need to play though (current answer: literally over half the album). They're going to have to get rid of songs to make way for new ones when the next album's out and it'll be ridiculous if they still keep hanging on to all those AI ones while other albums are cut completely, get rid of the longest one I say2 points

Failing to see the problem here. Every song should sound like More Than A Feeling. In fact every song should just BE More Than A Feeling.2 points

The prospect of Billie coming to Europe makes me so happy, even if it's just a possibility. And if he's coming all the way over here, he can stay a little while longer and play one or two or more Coverups shows here, how about that1 point

i hope they create and preform some true revolution rock rather than only eluding it. hopefully billie is true to his word of not standing in line anymore and starts truly taking advantage of his platform. prolly not because they really did sell their souls and theyre not allowed to.1 point

JOS is obviously a great song but it just doesn't do anything particularly special for me as a live song. They don't really do anything interesting with it, just playing it through, and pretty much every other AI song is a more entertaining performance, and with Forever Now they have another big passionate song that's just as effective. I don't think it has anything special enough about it as a live song (of course as a song in general it's known as their most impressive but I'm strictly talking live) to deserve staying on the setlist when so many other AI songs that are both more entertaining and bigger hits are already there.1 point

I am saddened by all the negative opinions of SN, FN, and JOS (but that's what I get for reading this thread ). I think the real solution though set-wise is either a) they play for 3 hours, or b) They rotate a few songs. I'd be devastated if JOS was dropped from the set because that means it's gone for the whole tour and maybe permanently and it's one of my favorites. But if they occasionally swap it out for Homecoming I could live with that for the sake of hearing a song I haven't heard live.1 point

I'm hoping for a recreation of the last show, complete with mustache. Ooh, but switch the red jacket with the white one that was in the background of the last pic, because I really want to see that with the pink shirt.1 point

Somewhere Now, a complete mess? I love that mess then. I connect very deeply with every word of it. Especially the last sentence I don't know the songs SN makes some of you guys think of, but as in most GD songs what touches me the most are the lyrics. I'd say that in Somewhere Now the music comes as a consecration of the passion contained in these lyrics, and I'm sure when I'll listen to the other songs that have been mentioned, it won't have much to do with the euphoria SN drives me in. I agree, but Forever Now is even more life. This song celebrates life in a way I can't even tell. When they play this part... it fills me with an incommensurable joy (as well as the whole song... but this instrumental part is to me the greatest celebration of being alive ever): I don't want Shout ti go, but I'd accept anything as for them to keep Still Breathing followed by Forever Now. And I'd be totally for playing Homecoming instead of Jesus of Suburbia, perhaps not both1 point

Oh my god I didn't even think about it live! Most emotional and epic performance of the show last year. It won't happen but it should totally replace JOS.1 point

It makes me think of The Who more than anything (especially the guitar solo). Don't know if it's any specific song or just a general Who vibe though.1 point

Somewhere Now is my all time favourite Green Day song. And coupled with Forever Now it's perfection. "Hallelujah I found my soul under the sofa pillows" yes I find the opposite! I find it the most powerful and emotionally honest song Billie has written.1 point

The drumming IS great. I agree that it's boring, too. Didn't really click with me.1 point

The Dollar Tree store by the hospital my dad's a patient in currently has a light problem, so at night, instead of all of the letters DOLLAR TREE being lit, the lights spell out DO TRE. I keep forgetting to get a damn picture. Edit: @Afflejack it's Southland, if you get over there!1 point

It grabbed me the first time I heard it because it was a catchy bop. The lyrics sound to me like it could be a sitcom theme tune. He writes a lot of “I’m all alone” songs but this one is just so happy about it.1 point
