Somewhere Now is my all time favourite Green Day song. And coupled with Forever Now it's perfection. "Hallelujah I found my soul under the sofa pillows" yes I find the opposite! I find it the most powerful and emotionally honest song Billie has written.5 points

Idk if it works for anyone else, but what I do when I'm really missing them is look back at all of their instagram posts through the years. I spent an entire Saturday a few weeks ago just looking through their old instagram posts, and it really helped me while I was missing them like crazy. Billie's instagram page is the best for this, imo. Just reliving some of those sweet moments that he posted felt so magical. It's just like taking a mini journey through the past 5 years of his life. Almost every single one of his posts made me feel some kind of overwhelming emotion, whether the post was political, dorky, ranty, a post about music, a post about family/friends, or a post specifically addressing fans. His words always get me right in the heart because he's so passionate about everything he loves and everything he believes in. And the things he shares with us on instagram makes me feel so close to him. With most celebs, I feel like it's us and them. But not with Billie. He's very eager to connect with us. My favourite instance is that time he posted a location and said that the first person to meet him there would get the drum kit he demoed the trilogy on - that was such a cool thing to do. I also loved the #mynewband and #artandillegal campaign things he had going. But yeah, when I read through his old posts, I feel like it's not us and him, it's just us. He's one of us, and I really do feel close to him (even though he lives approx. 5,136 miles away from me). One of the other things I love most about his instagram is that most of his captions are like a tiny glimpse into that tremendous brain of his. I love how he just shares his most random thoughts with us. And he just seems so genuine on instagram too. His posts make me so happy, and I love the fact that he makes so many people happy just by being himself.5 points

They could always skip Shout and have Forever Now, JOS and Homecoming4 points

Oh my god I didn't even think about it live! Most emotional and epic performance of the show last year. It won't happen but it should totally replace JOS.4 points

Unpopular opinion...Worrying about if Green Day is punk whether your friends or critics tell you they are not punk, is stupid. Worry about more important things in life!4 points

OK I feel like we're listening to two different songs but whatever. I personally completely disagree but you're welcome to that opinion4 points

I think the same thing. I went to bed yesterday thinking that it would be funny if Billie put on something online after we just complained on how much we miss him online. Then, here he goes by adding a Coverups show! Is Billie fangirling over himself??? He comes here often. But, hi Billie! Thank you for stopping by!4 points

Seriously, I genuinely think he reads this now. I think the fangirls thread is his favourite thread. Hi, Billie! We love you!4 points

Somewhere Now, a complete mess? I love that mess then. I connect very deeply with every word of it. Especially the last sentence I don't know the songs SN makes some of you guys think of, but as in most GD songs what touches me the most are the lyrics. I'd say that in Somewhere Now the music comes as a consecration of the passion contained in these lyrics, and I'm sure when I'll listen to the other songs that have been mentioned, it won't have much to do with the euphoria SN drives me in. I agree, but Forever Now is even more life. This song celebrates life in a way I can't even tell. When they play this part... it fills me with an incommensurable joy (as well as the whole song... but this instrumental part is to me the greatest celebration of being alive ever): I don't want Shout ti go, but I'd accept anything as for them to keep Still Breathing followed by Forever Now. And I'd be totally for playing Homecoming instead of Jesus of Suburbia, perhaps not both3 points

You know how I feel about that How many American Idiot songs do they need to play though (current answer: literally over half the album). They're going to have to get rid of songs to make way for new ones when the next album's out and it'll be ridiculous if they still keep hanging on to all those AI ones while other albums are cut completely, get rid of the longest one I say3 points
-
I love Somewhere Now because of the classic rock vibe. And hating Forever Now, how?? I hope they keep playing it live forever!3 points
-
It makes me think of The Who more than anything (especially the guitar solo). Don't know if it's any specific song or just a general Who vibe though.3 points
-
I think it's not only the chorus. First time I realized this, I was listening to MTAF and I was like "what does this remind me of?" and during the chorus it dawned on me and I was like "sooooooomewheeeere now omg fuck you Billie", so I think the similarity is somewhere else and it's quite subtle. It's been months since I heard either but my guess is the guitar part/some parts on the melody.3 points
-
I agree. It reminds me American Idiot on the way it conveys a story using similar repeating motives in 2 different songs, but it's more abstract. AI has Jesus and Homecoming with defined characters and quite straightforward lyrics, SN and FN are revrad's version of the same principle, but more abstract and left to listener's imagination. I can't say anything negative about these two songs. But I still insist SN sounds like Boston's More Than a Feeling.3 points

It’s from a studio shoot with a music photographer @kcarmstrong and he looks pretty talented. I love band photography and this guy seems to have a specific style of close up portrait work and I’d be keen to see any photos of Mike and Billie, that’s why I ask. Don’t see it being for Oakland Coffee and if it was a previous band shoot then I’m sure we would have seen it before now, it’s too good not to put it out there. Maybe something from one of Tre’s recent drum appearances for SJC or a drum magazine? Whatever, it’s a bloody good photo. Edit: Just checked this guy’s website. It’s an editorial shoot I think and there is another photo of Tre, very similar but not as close up.3 points

Well, I fell down the rabbit hole that is green day porn (Instagram account) yesterday. So that's occupying some of my time. And my birthday is this month, so they have to do something for that. Preferably a Foxies show.3 points

Jumping right in here but having been pretty indifferent about JOS and then seeing it in the musical setting (edit to clarify: where it works so much better) I'm 100% for dropping it from the live set. It's too long, especially at that point in the set. Forever Now must stay, well, forever. Apart from being one of the best songs they've made in years, it's worth keeping purely to watch Billie losing himself in that part from ~7-7.25 in the video above2 points

It's in the same key but the chord progressions aren't the same. Just similar in some parts. But still OMG I wonder if it's a coincidence or a "coincidence".2 points
-
I actually like More Than A Feeling, is it weird? Anyway, I'm just trying to cope. I definitely should stop listening to oldies stations or else it ruins all newer music for me Thanks. So I'm not alone who hears this. I think it's same chords/harmony but I'm not sure, my hearing is far from perfect.2 points

The end of Christie Road sounds like More Than a Feeling. Well, if More Than a Feeling mated with Wild Thing.2 points

I love how it comes back to it and brings the album full circle like that. It's just a wonderful song. Oh my god don't ruin it for me2 points

Agreed. It's always hilarious to me how many "punk purists" complain that GD or someone else isn't punk and their argument basically means that The Clash aren't punk either.2 points

Failing to see the problem here. Every song should sound like More Than A Feeling. In fact every song should just BE More Than A Feeling.1 point

Lol, I actually thought I was the only person in Switzerland at all on here, so this is a nice surprise, actually! Yeah, I get that too. I emotionally connect with both Insomniac and ¡Dos! deeply, and those are two mix-reviewed albums. It's just not my song I guess. The sound isn't for me. I'm more of a Stones kind of classic rock fan, myself.1 point
-
I'm American. Painfully American. I just am on an expat assignment in Switzerland. I just don't like the song much; I'm not sure what that has to do with my Swiss-ness or lack thereof? It's fine to disagree of course EDIT: I see now; also Swiss. Sorry but that1 point

Dammit, Billie! I actually wonder if it's just subtle enough most people don't really notice, but sort of feel a nostalgic connection to the song. It's definitely an original Green Day song, it's not plageristc in my eyes at all, but it's got this under the radar feeling that I bet tapped into people's emotions. I call manipulation!1 point

Something is definitely similar, I think in the chorus? I can't pin down exactly what it is, but it's there. It's the opening bars and chorus. Figured it out.1 point

Honestly I just find Somewhere Now boring, the drumming is admittedly fantastic but I find the song devoid of any real fire or passion, the sound may be big and anthemic with lyrics to go along with that but it doesn't have the feeling to make that real rather than just trying to be powerful. When I first put the album on the day it arrived I was describing the first few tracks and genuinely forgot it even happened by the time the title track finished.1 point

He’s a fanboy for this obscure little bar band with the funny facial hair and the fake beer, and I totally get it1 point

Funny thing is, I was just looking at the Green Day porn account when Baby Got Back came up on shuffle. "LA face with an Oakland booty" took on a whole new meaning for me.1 point

I know that feeling. ☺️ Some days though it seems no matter how much searching I so on instagram and YouTube I can’t find anything I haven’t seen before. ETA: Did Billie hear me whining again? Now there’s a Coverups show 😁☺️💚1 point

No offence, but I take the liberty of being sceptical of anything you say after that whole Back In The USA ,,leak‘‘ sham (I know you’re not making a prediction here btw, but still...).1 point

March... School, homeworks and job... in other words, having no life. It's kind of very hard to have no free time for myself, but atleast I am not waisting my time waiting for news from GD. It's sad, but I'm used to not get news from my favorite bands (can you imagine this: I've spend the last 17 years waiting for real news from another band and it finally happenned 2 months ago). Anyway, I really miss Billie on social medias. I even miss his puppet. It's like a friend is missing.1 point
