  4. I just listened to The Who's "A Quick One While He's Away" and Green Day's cover of it in a row and, man, as much as I love the original version (big The Who fan!), the Green Day version is kicking its ass. Billie's voice is amazing in that song, especially the "You are forgiven" part. You hardly hear him sing like that in any other song, it's killing me (in a good way).

  5. Gosh, when I was posting I could see them, but now I can't either I found them on another website, so here's a final attempt: off duty/hobo mode nah, I think he too likes too much his fluffy hair to give them up. And boy does his hair grow fast, I'm amazed. I too still love his long and curly hair the most (like in the gif @G-L-O-R-I-A posted above), but I still find him damn attractive with shorter hair. It does make him look different (and I personally needed a few weeks to adapt to it), but doesn't take from his hawtness at all.

  7. I was just able to find our playlist by googling it and finding it on one of the losing forums . Pretty classy I think Green Day - Welcome to Paradise Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop Green Day - Scattered The Who - My Generation Generation X - Kiss Me Deadly Green Day - Going to Pasalacqua Bikini Kill - Rebel Girl Green Day - Letterbomb The Clash - Rudie Can't Fail Green Day - Christie Road Operation Ivy - Knowledge Green Day - Minority (Bullet in a Bible version) I believe they also played Jesus of Suburbia and the Simpsons Theme as bonuses. I have enjoyed remembering this

  8. This tour really has been the happiest I've ever seen him. He just seemed so cheerful and content. And there were so many big beautiful smiles. Smiley Billie = smiley me.

  9. Technically Operation Ivy, but of course I've listened to the Green Day version a million times more, but I always thought Wide open road to my future now Is looking fucking narrow was Wide open road to my future now And fuck the fucking barrel

  11. WMUWSE is better live than on the album. More dynamic.

  12. I’ve come across quite a lot of fans that don’t like that song. They either think it’s been overplayed over the years (which is totally understandable) or they think it’s a poor song (which I don’t agree with). I guess part of my love for this song is irrational, since it’s probably one of the first GD-songs I heard and therefore probably is responsible for me getting into Green Day in the first place. But even so, I think it’s a great song. It’s slow / mid-tempo and repetitive yes, but packed with emotion imo. You just have to observe his emotional state when playing it live at various occasions to see what I’m on about. It also baffles me a bit when people don’t see its meaning / purpose in the story of AI (not saying you hold that position). To me it makes perfect sense, I interpret it in the following way: After being dumped by Whatsername (in Letterbomb) JOS is essentially pretty much at rock button, so in a lot of mental and emotional pain. WMUWSE is essentially a self-reflective song, a necessary part of every coming of age process / personal evolution. It’s true that Billie seems to be only talking about himself, but I would take his story and thoughts portrayed in the song as also a metaphor for what JOS might be thinking. He’s thinking about his past, the painful things that have happened to him that still hurt him today. At the same time though, it’s a song about trying to make sense of and ultimately accepting the past events as part of a personal evolution (‘’becoming who we are’’). Therefore, the song starts with a retrospective view of looking at the past, to then changing that attitude by looking forward towards the future. This evolution is necessary for JOS, because it causes him to accept what has happened (painful it may be) and think of a way forward. He therefore realises that things can’t go on as they have, nothing has turned out the way he hoped and that he needs to take action accordingly. That in turn then leads to Homecoming and the death of St. Jimmy. This song may not appear strictly necessary, as the story would probably work even without it, but I think it definitely has its place and importance. Also, there’s something about the solo of this song that absolutely tears my heart out every time

  13. Worst Billie hair ever . I'm relieved that we've seen him perform with it floofy again before he goes into total off duty/hobo mode or whatever, it would be a tragedy if it was a permanent new look

  15. I skip WMUWSE as well. It was always on the setlist for the AI tour and most if the 21CBD tour. For me it's overplayed live and on the radio/tv. There's so many other songs I would rather hear.

  16. It's also the only song I usually skip on AI when I listen to the whole record. I don't think it's a bad song and I really, really like it live, but as some of you already said, it's just so overplayed.

  17. That’s true (the BIAB version especially) but I don’t think it’s a bad song on the album. Overrated and overplayed maybe, but not bad and imo not skip-worthy either. Also fits into AI very nicely regardless. Still, I think his voice in particular sounds much better live, because you can hear his pain and the full meaning of the lyrics a lot better live than on the studio version.

  18. That would be so funny Imagine walking in and everybody has a gd shirt. That would be like entering paradise. I totally would do that if I worked there. It's a plan! Just let me know when

  19. It was the best, the DJ made the whole hour about Green Day and GDC, and the voting before it was super fun going and talking to the other forums making friends and enemies and close voting etc. It was the first year I was here so it's really memorable to me haha. And the next year Absolute Radio came back to us for fan questions for the band when they interviewed them. Just a one off contest they did unfortunately (and I've never heard of another contest like it) but it would be so cool to do again.

  22. Yeah, hopefully @Kuromignonne will be able to repost. In the meantime, everybody have some gorgeous back: I just wanna smush my face in it. And his ink looks fabulous too. And hands.

  24. I loved his hair on the South American tour. I think it was a very smart, mature look for him. However, I also love it when he has poofy hair. It looked gorgeous in Tre's studio selfie. I love his natural curls, and those are the fluffiest curls I've ever seen.

  25. /thread I’m a huge fan of both GD and Family Guy (and know Mike Henry) who does the voice of Herbert and I had no idea about this until this post and I was at Chile show. Ha. Rep + 10000

  31. I should have taken a selfie. It was such an opportunity I've done some research - apparently it's a restaurant chain, they sell salads. Doesn't sound bad at all! (Would it be too fangirly if I went back to check it out someday? )

  32. ^ I can't get over that photo since I first saw it, it was my computer background for weeks I don't even know why, but my first thought was that he's probably never looked more attractive. I guess it's mainly the black shirt with rolled up sleeves and the hair

  33. Hubby's on a Family Guy binge and I had this exact thought just the other night. is there anything we can't relate back to Green Day? I think not.

  34. The "taste the revolution!" and "gimme gimme revolution!" parts are soooo similar as well though lol. And we know GD loves Bikini Kill. Definitely a direct influence imo. In 2008 when GDC won the epic "Rockoff" contest (where different band forums each put together a playlist of 6 of your artist's songs and 6 other songs to complement them and then after rounds of knockout voting the winning playlist was played on Absolute Radio) Rebel Girl was one of the songs we picked

  36. Joey asked for help last week on Twitter and now Billie is having fun with archives... It seems the father and son are working on their family tree at the moment. Hell yeah! Should I send a tweet / comment on Instagram to Billie telling him I already have his family tree? I can't see your pictures.

  37. Honestly, that upload on the official insta page right there is one of the best things I’ve seen in a long while! The teen internet slang is kinda cringey, but brilliant and hilarious at the same time.

  39. I still think BB is one of the better songs on the album in terms of lyrics and sound. Maybe Billie has written songs like BB before but not for a while. There was certainly nothing like it on the trilogy and even on 21CB, there were very few songs as fast or as loud as Bang Bang. I think the best of the sort of political songs are the ones that focus on particular issues like BB and SG as opposed to the ones that are more general like RR and TT. It is long but I still enjoy every single track thoroughly, even the B-sides. Some of my favourite GD songs come from 21CB. I think it was a very creative time for Billie. I think despite its length, it's probably the album I'm least likely to skip a track on.

  40. When your friend said that Green Day were shit, so you refused to speak to him until he bought you GD memorabilia. When you sing any song and your voice just comes out as Billie's accent. When you're at school and you apply every sociological or psychological theory that you learn to GD. When you basically cry yourself to sleep every night because you haven't been able to go to a GD show yet, and you're starting to think that you'll never get the opportunity.

  41. So I drive a college bus and there's a guy who regularly gets on wearing a 21CB t-shirt and a girl who occasionally wears a Revrad shirt. I never usually see Green Day shirts in the wild around here so I feel like I should somehow set them up together
