If Green Day were catering to a punk rock audience only, then every album would sound like Insomniac. Punk fans have been complaining GD aren’t punk since the Gilman days. They’ve never sought to please those people, and they’ve never tried to make current music that was for the masses to be popular. They please themselves full stop and that’s a risky business.

And I think this is why he wears a hat, because if he doesn’t we’ll be analyzing his hairline. I really believe this is why he uses puppets, masks, and takes selfies of his shoes. Everytime he shows so much as an inch of skin we’re putting it under a microscope. On that point, did you notice in the latest shoe picture his socks are pulled up? Last time he took a shoe selfie and his ankles were showing everyone was talking about how he had no leg hair there. People actually asked him on his instagram if he shaved his legs. This time, no skin. How can we not make the poor boy self conscious?

I fricken can not wait until they get on stage and we can see what Billie's hair looks like. It's been a long few weeks and I miss him so much! Can't wait to see that beautiful little man.

If you don't have anything desperately fangirly to add please use the relevant threads (eg. an Instagram photo in the Instagram thread). There are times when it's appropriate to mention something from another thread here because you have some extra fangirly comments on it but it doesn't have to be that every single Green Day thing or every single Green Day related thought you have. Biggest fangirl moment?? I might be too embarrassed to answer this one but I will admit to having written fan fiction with my cousin back when we were 12/13. Green Day would always show up at our family parties in the Bookmobile, and for some reason someone would always shoot peas out of their nose "like a machine gun." I think it was usually Billie a lot of times we would have pajama parties and play truth or dare, where they would all admit embarrassing things. Mike was always getting his feelings hurt and crying for some reason. And Tre was always getting in fights with our little brothers. There are several of them and they are ridiculous yet somehow strangely believable 🤔

I mean, I don't think it's unreasonable to say this thread should be for when you have something to fangirl about and not a place to constantly spam posts or to discuss everything about GD. Like I hope you guys can see why we restarted it, it became very difficult to follow and the alternative was getting rid of it. It's not like there's ever been a lack of legit fangirling posts so I don't see any reason why "restricting" it to that should be a problem, the thread will still be here to post in without being spammed with anything and everything just for the sake of keeping it going. Most fangirly thing I've done is probably making thousands of posts on a GD fansite for almost 10 years . That or keeping/sniffing Billie's beer can. Or spending the day before 21st CB came out listening to GD's entire discography in chronological order lol.

I'm not saying that LP haven't taken risks. It seems that you're being quite ignorant about GD's discography. I've already explained that GD have taken many risks in their career. AI was a risk, 21CB was a risk, the trilogy was a risk, even Nimrod was a risk. And they took a risk by signing to a major label back in 1994. RR was their first "safe" album since Warning. And it could be argued that even Warning was a risk since it was less punk and started with the political themes (i.e Minority).

Please tell me I'm not the only one that damn near cried when I saw that the old fangirls thread had been closed. But I've found this thread now, so all is well. And I absolutely, completely, totally, entirely, utterly, fully refuse to even think for one second that Billie has had hair implants. Billie has magic hair. Also, I love Billie's instagram post of his shoes. Lol, that patch tho. And his odd socks. He better take that damn hat off soon though- he's even wearing it to soundcheck. I want to see his sexy new haircut.

Some would consider releasing a mainstream pop album to be playing it safe (ie trying to do what’s popular and appeal to a wider audience) and others would consider it a risk (alienating the fans they already have.). I just know I don’t want Green Day to sound like every other “alternative” pop band today. I want them to be Green Day, whatever that feels like to them right now, but not boring.

My girlfriend is a physiotherapist and she once had a client that work in the amphitheater of my city to give therapist massage for band/athlete/and all kind of people doing show. When Green Day came in my city in March she gave a massage to Tre Cool. To thank her, Tre give her his drum sticks. But she don't know the band very well, so my girlfriend tell her about me, that I'm a big fan. She was kind enough to gives us the drum stick... for 100$. Now I have 2 sticks hanging on my living room. Yeh!

I once licked the seat of a car because a man told me it belonged to Tre Cool once. It only tasted like old Taco Bell and ball sweat. I'm pretty sure Tre Cool was never in the car. I sent Mike Dirnt a letter asking for his advice: Should I feed my dog the food that he likes or the diet food that is good for his health? I'm pretty sure Mike's reply got lost in the mail. I was on an airplane about to land in San Francisco when another plane nearly crashed into us. I flipped off the other plane but I'm pretty sure the other plane's pilot didn't see it. Then I found out Billie Joe Armstrong was on that plane. I realized I may have accidentally flipped off Billie Joe so I sent him a bag of weed for a green day, but it was only shake so I think that wasn't sufficient for an apology and he is still mad at me.

Y'know you talk a lot about how GDC aren't accepting of different opinions and then you just laugh at what other people think... Pretty hypocritical tbh And there really isn't much of a difference... Both bands have taken risks and both bands have played safe at times in their career. Am I wrong somehow?

I think that's wrong after Warning kinda flopped AI was a huge risk instead of going with a more pop sound and lyrics he wrote an intense and personal concept album at a time when rock wasn't even that big on the radio anymore. If AI would've flopped their career wouldn't look anything like it does today. The trilogy was pretty risky too and it didn't really pay off for anyone. And Linkin Parks new albums have been trash imo

This is how starved we all are for content. Literally counting the hours until they play a show we're not even attending! (Other than some of the South American fans on here of course).

Ok, so the first concert of the last leg of the RevRad tour starts in approximately 5 hours and 20 minutes, with Green Day probably on stage one hour later so in roughly 6.5 hours! EDIT; slightly later than I thought sadly, the concert doesn't start at 19:00 as I initially assumed. Interrupters are set to go on stage at around 20:30 pm, so in roughly 4 hours, with Green Day following one hour later so in roughly 5 hours. Arghh, the wait...

Trilogy lyrics are just as good as 21cb.

After more than four years and 750 pages, this is the end of an era. But to stay on topic, "Billy Jo is so hawt" Nah, let's just make the best of it. I see that the old thread might have spilled out of control a bit the past few months, so here we go writing the next 750 pages. Oh, and yes, let's appreciate Jeff.
