My friend and I are currently discussing the nightlife tattoo I want to get on my ass.6 points

I absolutely love Kill the DJ. It's definitely my favourite song from Uno, and I think it might actually be in my top 10 GD songs ever.5 points

Idk to me the super long "intro" (if 2/3 of the song can be called an intro ) is the core of the song and what makes it special. Like it's not supposed to be a regular song, it's a unique experimental thing. So if it was made into a regular song with a more regular intro it would lose its essence .Of course it doesn't have to be to everyone's taste though.4 points

I don't love Insomniac like I do most GD albums but you really have to appreciate Panic Song. I don't think PS is anything like LRI because that is the same tune for almost 4 minutes, whereas Panic Song actually builds to something and shows the skill of the band. It works so much better as an instrumental. Plus the instrumental is only 2 minutes long, it doesn't last nearly as long as LRI4 points

Troublemaker is my 2nd favourite from Uno too! It's such a fun song. Whenever I hear it, it just puts a smile on my face. And I don't care if people think the lyrics are bad cause I find them quite amusing. Agreed. X-Kid was the right choice for a single imo, and Brutal Love was just perfect, especially when they played it live. I wish they'd play it again sometime. On the subject of Tre, I really really like Walk Away. It's not the kind of song I would usually like, but for some reason, it was one of the first Trilogy songs to grab my attention. It seems so underrated and nobody ever seems to talk about it.3 points

*sniff* C’mon Billie, show yourself 😢 (Unless you’re busy writing songs in which case carry on 🙂)3 points

Me too! Troublemaker is my second favourite (now that's unpopular )3 points

Woo more Troublemaker love! That was one of my favorite songs from Uno. I just love Billie's snotty, cocky attitude on the song.2 points

The intro to Panic Song is one of the only things I can listen to on Insomniac.2 points

I like 99 Revolutions and I like to watch footage of it when it was the opening song during the 99 Revolutions tour. However, I think Brutal Love and X-Kid are the best songs from Tre2 points

He’s worked hard for it, live and let live, I say. (And it’s not only a retreat, it’s a tax shelter. Finances get complicated when you’re making that kind of money) Good for him.2 points

The house is owned by a real estate trust so the article I saw listed the trust as the owner so unless you were aware you wouldn’t know it was his house, at least not in the one article. An industry design award is a big deal for a firm and I would assume they get nominated by someone but an architect doesn’t enter it like it’s a contest, I don’t think it is a consent situation. Similar home design awards I’ve seen list the address and often keep the homeowners anonymous so it’s fine.2 points
-
I would imagine it's illegal to randomly publish a private citizen's address without consent however this house had been entered into a design/architecture or building (or something) competition and won best new building the year it was completed. It was a very public competition and the winners were announced publicly and published in quite a few articles etc. At least one named not only the architect (very obviously as he had won!) but the new owner. Since it was the house that won the prize it obviously published the full address. I'm rather stunned that a celebrity would give permission to their architect to enter such a competition with their house.2 points

Kill the DJ and Troublemaker are catchy and great. Loss of Control isn't my favourite Trilogy song but I still like it. This live version of Kill the DJ is fabulous1 point

Excellent! Looks like everything I thought I knew about the popularity of Troublemaker was a lie1 point

I like Troublemaker too. I owe it to you for that. YOu convinced me of its merits1 point

I'm the complete opposite - Insomniac is my 2nd favourite GD album and I love it way more that the rest of their albums, except for Nimrod. It probably doesn't really help that PS is sandwiched between two of my favourite GD songs ever on the album (86 and Stuart and the Ave), so it has tough competition. When PS hits, it just slows down the whole album for me. I want to appreciate PS, but I actually physically can't, and it's so frustrating. You talk about it like it's this amazing song (and I don't doubt your opinion, it probably is an amazing song), but it just doesn't feel amazing to me. I feel like I'm missing out on something. As for PS being like LRI, I feel that the intro to PS is practically the same tune for a long amount of time (especially the middle section), except it speeds up as the time goes on, so it's not as bad as LRI. They have loads of songs that show the skill of the band, Panic Song is nothing special, imo. And sometimes the 2 minute instrumental feels like it's 4 minutes because I'm waiting so long for the damn song to start. Well, it certainly doesn't keep me interested, it has the complete opposite effect on me. I just feel like the intro doesn't have to be so long. It tends to be the middle of the intro that's the issue for me - I like the first 40 seconds, then I lose interest, then it gets to about 1:40, and I start enjoying it again. That middle section just seems so repetitive, they could have cut it down by half a minute or so, and it would still have pretty much the same build up, just shorter.1 point

I did not know about this christmas song! Now I can't decide if it's the cheesiest thing I've heard in my life or my new favorite Christmas song....maybe both.1 point

I think Kill the DJ has become my favourite Uno song So what do you think of it?1 point
-
Well done! I disapprove. I love the intro but to me, it overall puts me in the right level of excitement for what comes next. Hell yeah The Last Ride In syndrome is pretty recurrent lol1 point
-
Yeah exactly! I think the intro actually makes it one of Green Day's best songs. I know some other people who really aren't that into Green Day (with the you know ''it all just sounds the same'' kind of attitude) and they actually all agree that Panic Song is a really great song by any metric (though there's a lot of other Green Day songs that they unrightfully dismiss...). I think it's almost a crime that they haven't yet played this live or used it as a concert opener1 point

I know this was posted in the SWMRS thread but starting at 21:30 there's a good chunk about meeting Joey and Billie's influence on the band, thought it might be interesting.1 point

@Kuromignonne that one is great because I love how closely he watches after they dive to make sure they’re okay. He gets people of all different comfort levels and he’s always so encouraging.1 point

I don't think that's an unpopular opinion1 point

Only need a pic of Tre getting his teeth done now and we have the full set lol - actually never particularly noticed Tre's teeth. Maybe they are getting all pretty for rest of tour.1 point

In Warning, I always thought he was singing "Caution Polish line you better not cross" instead of police line. For some reason, I thought Polish line actually made a lot of sense1 point

I feel like Governator had to originally be a Network song. It sounds so much like them.1 point
-
It has been established though that even the lyric books are wrong sometimes it came up as ‘you’re on your own side’ when I googled it. It actually makes more sense to me than ‘you are your own sight’ which is why I’m thinking that’s what it really is.1 point

But that's true for about every song he's written. I just wrote a long post about how everything Billie writes is really his interpretation even when it's something extraordinarily political. In pretty much all Green Day songs, they are written from the vantage point of Billie (even when it's a different character like St. Jimmy). Only so often when necessary during the opera years did he write from others vatage point and even then, they were still him sometimes. Jimmy vs JOS. Still Breathing was written about Billie and the fact that he survived rehab. The Nows are both written specifically about his drug and alcohol issues as well (as are songs like Brain Stew, Burnout, Geek Stink Breath, Sex Drugs and Violence, Christie Road) and so many more but that doesn't mean that a firefighter who is retiring and survived a dangerous career can't relate to the same emotion. Stories vary massively differently from person to person but there are only so many emotions and therefore they are relatable sometimes even though they were not written with THAT PERSON (whomever) in mind. If you consider Billie a poet (and I do) he would be offended to know that his pros (lyrics) are not interpretable because all great works of art USUALLY are. Also Billie likes to play with words as much as similies, metaphors and hyperbole. A great line from FN "My name is Billie and I'm freaking out". --- were talking about our character from the onset. He's on drugs...12 steppers say "my name is X and I'm an alcoholic" .... Also we know he's not happy with it. Not bad for one line. Also in the revolution resolution of FN when he says "I'm not standing in line no more, I'll put it off another day" on the surface sounds like he will procrastinate but at the end of the song he's really concluding that he will no longer procrastinate and he will PUT IT OFF ANOTHER DAY, as in not today. Such a great phrase as you have to really dissect the narrative to figure that out. Also with "Dull" and "Full" on The Nows but that is just something that I thought was dull on both occasions until I saw it live and realized he said "full" in FN and that completely changed the book end and it made much more sense. With just a single letter. Only Billie.1 point

This is what I don't get. You can watch ANY of the songs on their setlist 20x and it'll be the same thing every time. With KFAD there will at least be some variation of antics, costumes, different band members singing, Billie's comments, covers etc. So why is it singled out as the only one that's "stale"??? Side note I've probably watched over 50 different videos of it and seen it live 4 times and nowhere near bored yet1 point

Someone at Diffuser just got on board with what fans have been doing since the Trilogy era: http://diffuser.fm/green-day-uno-dos-tre-single-album/ Except, I never did this, but I've been revisiting those albums and I really want to now.1 point

I assume the intention is shooting and sharing this sort of video is to make Mike look bad but you can see from everyone's body language how harassed they are being made to feel, I think Mike was very restrained, these guys need a punch on the nose 🤛1 point
