  1. This Is How Popular Songs Would Look If They Were Created In Shakespearean Times https://www.boredpanda.com/pop-songs-sonnets-popsonnet/?page_numb=3

  3. I know this was posted in the SWMRS thread but starting at 21:30 there's a good chunk about meeting Joey and Billie's influence on the band, thought it might be interesting.

  4. Don't know if this is an unpopular/popular opinion but I like Loss of Control

  5. They should play more of it more often goddamnit! *Little Rant* Seriously, who wouldn't freak out if they played Brain Stew/ Jaded, Stuart Ave, Armatage Shanks, No Pride or Walking Contradiction? In general I'd say, either make the setlist longer or take out a few AI songs or KFAD (or just the covers whatever) and then add a few songs from Nimrod and Insomniac. These albums are getting so little playtime. They used to play Scattered (they played it at my first gig), but now they only have two songs from Nimrod, only one song from 21CB, not a single song from Insomniac (at least for more than 90% of shows) and more songs from AI than RevRad, wtf? This setlist needs balancing. Seriously, it pains me to say it, but a few songs just need to go (or and we know this ain't happening; the setlist needs to get longer)! Maybe for the South America leg they'll go wild and play more than 30 songs at the last few gigs, who knows. But we know they're all 7 years older and we can't expect them to have the same endurance as then, I mean Green Day shows are incredibly long even now... *Little Rant over*

  6. Same here regarding the connection to Restless Heart Syndrome. That song is in my top 5 as well and when I noticed the connection and heard Billie talk (I think) about how the "enemy" isn't just other people/politicians, etc. it can also be yourself, that made me like KYE way more. I strongly disliked KYE when it first came out but I really enjoy it now. I also agree with you on not enjoying live videos where fans are invited up. More so for me because it wastes time (especially with Knowledge). I want the song to just keep moving! And yes I'd rather hear Billie's voice too, but it is pretty cool when a fan nails it. That video is so sweet. That's probably the most intense experience that kid has ever had in his life. He looks pretty overwhelmed but good for him for challenging himself and going for the dive anyway!

  7. Don Hills was hopefully the last time fans get this Billie (during the opening of AI Broadway) at a small club in NYC. (About 1.5 years before the Twentieth Century Breakdown of one BJA).

  10. I like it too. I'm not a huge fan of Uno (it's probably my least favourite GD album), but Loss of Control is one of the few Uno songs that I don't skip all the time.

  11. I really like X-Kid. That, Brutal Love and Fell for You are my top three from the trilogy

  13. I'm not crazy about it, but I like hearing it, starting with album version. It's one of the songs I automatically want to sing along, even though it isn't one of my favorites. The "Know Your Enemy" thing sends back to Restless Heart Syndrome which is in my top 5 Green Day songs, where Billie sings "I am my own worst enemy, you are your own worst enemy". The song hasn't been played live a lot, but I remember having heard Billie mention it more than once in interviews from the 21st CB era, and mentioning that connection between the two songs. Somehow it made me enjoy KYE more than before. Here I think of an unpopular opinion of mine: I like the least watching live videos of the songs where Billie invites fans on stage (Know Your Enemy, Longview, and Knowledge), more because I want to hear Billie's voice exclusively than because of pure jealousy. But most of the time, when I actually see such videos, I don't get bored. Some few times I really feel a lot of sympathy for the fan invited. It just takes me some effort before I start to watch. My favorite live video of KYE I can think of is:

  15. I love X-Mas Time of Year. That song and Ordinary World are the two songs where I automatically smile when they start playing.

  16. Article Variety did on it. Not sure if this violates privacy rules, but it's a public article and he doesn't live there any more (and I'm pretty sure I've seen articles on this here before) so I figured it was okay to post it.

  17. I'm not a huge fan of the rest of the song either tbh, but my short attention span usually struggles with instrumentals, so the long intro is especially difficult for me to listen to.

  18. It was actually the house before the one Billie currently has. Cole's father has designed Billie's last two houses, and I believe his vacation house as well.
    1 point
  19. That was really cool. I didn’t know the story of how he and Joey met — Cole’s dad was the architect that designed Billie’s house! That house won an award when it was finally done in 2010 it was years in the planning then if they met when Adrienne was still pregnant with Jakob. I’ve just start getting into SWMRS the songs are good and there’s a ton of range on the album from punk to pop alternative.

  23. @Kuromignonne that one is great because I love how closely he watches after they dive to make sure they’re okay. He gets people of all different comfort levels and he’s always so encouraging.

  24. Only need a pic of Tre getting his teeth done now and we have the full set lol - actually never particularly noticed Tre's teeth. Maybe they are getting all pretty for rest of tour.

  26. St.jimmy is the Devil on his shoulder saying, “Hey boy, come on.”

  27. I wonder if there is a difference between Drunk Rev and St. Jimmy. They are both fictional characters but one could argue that St. Jimmy is Billie’s “real” alter ego. That red guy on his shoulder that makes him so devishliy awesome. Hmmmm, something to not think about.

  28. Man I really love Governator. It’s just such a cool song. The bit after the chorus when it’s like “he’s at it again” etc, the guitar is stopping and starting, but for once the bass isn’t following that lead and fills in those little silences, I love it (It’s hard to describe lol). And also the “walk around I see...” bit with the drums, the bass drum sounds so good There was a word Billie sings in a song I was listening to yesterday that I meant to post in here but now, of course, I’ve completely forgotten what it is

  29. I get it. Everyone likes drunk Rev. It was a party no doubt. Just because he can’t do it anymore doesn’t mean you can’t admit those were good times (even he would probably admit that). I don’t smoke anymore but I look back on times I did as good times. (And that first one is super hot. Had to watch that about a dozen times, but wrong thread)

  30. I don't know about the rest of the world, but on this forum, it seems that my fave songs off RevRad are everyone else's least faves, and my least faves are everyone else's faves. Like, I really really like Troubled Times, RevRad, BOTW, OW and Youngblood and I've loved them ever since I first heard the album, but they all seem to be quite unpopular on this site. Also, I'm not a huge fan of Forever Now (unless its live), Somewhere Now, or Still Breathing, but most people on here seem to love them.

  31. CNN is on TV and I'm not really paying attention .... they are talking about the Green Bay packers though and every time they say the word I look up like some kind of conditioned dog

  32. Yeah but Billie still manages to make it sexy . To be fair other than the reference in the title it's really about PMS/the emotional effect of a period and not the blood . Plus guys not being silly and squeamish about periods = Oh what about the whole "Oh bless me lord for I have sinned..." part of East Jesus Nowhere?

  33. Agree with Macy's Day Parade being an underrated single, I love that song. Haushinka though, I can take it or leave it. Probably my least favourite on Nimrod (although Nimrod is in my top 3 albums so it's not really an insult, lol) I agree with Hermione in that I don't think Mike's written enough to judge against Billie, although I guess all songwriting is subjective, just like art or other written works. I personally love Billie's style, recurring buzz words and fancy metaphors and all

  34. This reminds me of one of the saddest but most beautiful quotes: "You get a strange feeling when you're about to leave a place. Like you'll not only miss the people you love, but you'll miss the person you are now at this time and this place, because you'll never be this way ever again." This era has been one of the most special times in my life. My entire life has felt full and happy this year for many reasons, but I'm sure having my favorite guys back in my life has a whole lot to do with it. The intimacy of this album and this tour has been like nothing else. And I don't want to forget how special this past year has made me feel. After 12 years of loving this band, this was the point I felt like me and the band had finally grown into each other perfectly, if that makes any sense. Falling in love all over again as an adult with the band who got you through grade school is pretty damn magical.

  35. It looks like most of the fanbase has a crush on him

  36. I saw it first at the iHeart thing at Burbank Studios. That thing they recorded and released on TV. If I'm not mistaken (and I might be), it was the first time he played it for a crowd live. It was like 100 people tops. It was fucking amazing and I knew immediately it meant something more to Billie than just the movie. What the it has become "my get to wherever I'm going" song means I don't care if I ever see it live again (well that's not true, I'd rather be watching Billie do anything than just typing) but between dealing with 10s of thousands of people vs. hearing Good Riddance, the crowd has now won that battle after hearing that song literally 100s of times. So in essence, if I'm going to the stage, my car, or to meet someone, it's on that song that I start my trek. You can avoid an hour of traffic for example if you are leaving as soon as the concert ends by doing that however, I implore you all to meet up and have fun after the show. Continue the party at the car for a little. Smoke a J if that's your thing or just hang out and live while you're young. For example, at Rose Bowl, I LEFT EARLY which is the first time I have ever done that (let alone sit in seats) because I was wth my 5yo daughter who can't stop talking about it. She had to make a collage (her first homework ever as she's in kindergarten and I pretty much had to stop her from making it all about that show). I have a way of making everything complicated when it's simple. The answer to your last question was that means I don't care about watching that song more than I do about moving life forward without dealing with the crowds. TBH, there are very few artists that i will see live as it feels like work sometimes. Bands like Green Day, Paul McCartney, 21Pilots put on a decent show, a lot of EDM acts including Empire of the Sun, Rudimental, Roni Size, LTJ Bukem, Rabbit in the Moon, Rancid, Trent/NIN, and a few others are the only bands I will even go out of my way to take the time to see. Good Riddance has turned into a song that fall into NOT one of those bands. Over-explanation done. At the moment. Green Day fandom, as I said in another post, changes like the wind. When you lived as long as I have (I'm pretty old at 42 I think, I swear I never remember) is a lot of time to watch a bands that you've been watching since you were a kid and the TYPE of fans seem to change quite often. Right now I think there is a good fan base that is kind, loves the band and is done caring about the labels of the music and the band. Of course they have a lot to do with that but I can't tell you how annoying it's been to hear about their selling out for what feels like millennia. I don't care if they are punk, or if they came out with an all power ballads album. I would listen to it all and it would probably be all good. I can't think of a single Green Day song off hand that I hate. Literally can't think of one. I am sure there is one but there aren't many bands I can say that about. Plus, as a straight man (and I'm very straight, it's not a choice, I couldn't have sex with a man if you offered me a billion dollars (and believe me I'd try)) but I have a total man crush on Billie. Always have. I think he's the coolest mother fucker alive. Too cool for school and the fans still appreciate it after all these years! So yeah, that's Green day fandom for ya. Did I just say anything?
