To be fair they seem to celebrate the "end" of the tour every few weeks. They celebrated the end of the European tour right before the US tour began. And before that it was the end of another leg. Admittedly Billie getting the tattoo etc is like he's saying it's really the end of the whole tour but part of me thinks they just desperately want reasons to throw parties. I'm sure they'll have a party to celebrate the first night of the Latin America tour and a massive one to celebrate the end of it. They'll also probably have a party after the Global Citizens thingy in NYC. They can't help themselves. Opening any envelopes any time soon? GD will have a party to celebrate and will bring balloons and a photobooth.5 points

It's an occupational hazard that's unavoidable -- you're constantly meeting people and taking photos and having gatherings for this or that event. I'm sure it helps that he's probably wired after a show and these are private affairs of friends and family so it's easier to be comfortable. He said that was one of the reasons he drank a lot, because he was uncomfortable in social situations, and now he just has to deal with it (the article was in the Fallon thread).3 points

I believe today is the 35 year anniversary of Billie's father's death. Be interesting to see if they do WMUWSE tonight.3 points

To be fair just about everyone uses alcohol to loosen up and enjoy social situations it's just if you're an alcoholic every time you do you wake up in a strange place naked. 😉2 points

It's probably a bit extra special to them that it's the end of the US leg of the tour, simply because it's their home country. Also probably more convenient to have a big celebration when they finish in their home state than when somewhere far away. But when they finish the whole tour of the world you can bet that'll be a big deal to them too!2 points

I really need to remember to turn off my tweet alerts, I woke up to so many notifications the other day when Billie went on a retweeting spree, for a moment I just thought I was really popular.2 points

Haha! This happened to me recently when I was at the thrift store, and I thought to myself, "as much as I love thrifting, I'd much rather be back at a Green Day gig right now!" 😆1 point

I'm so happy to be a fan of a band/scene with a sense of humour We'll never know exactly what it is Billie struggles with and he clearly lives for the attention at the same time (breaking news!: human beings are complex <3) but I just want to say I know oh so well where you're coming from with groups and friends and it is indeed a bummer.1 point

Was in the supermarket checkout and they start playing Careless Whisper overhead and all I think is, OMG Jason Freese! 😂😂😂 He really does nail that intro.1 point

Just watched Ordinary World again for the first time since it came out, and it was way better than I remembered.1 point

I think Billie is smart enough to know that now, he is in control of his surrounded , from past experience..and he is not shy person I don't think, and it is not just party but it is celebration as well because it is last leg of tour and at Famous Rose Bowl.1 point

Wait, he spent four months in rehab? I thought it was just a month. Jesus, that's intense. It's so fascinating to me that he really is such an attention whore on stage and yet so socially anxious in a room full of people. I guess that's like a weird combination of not being shy at all but also being very uncomfortable interacting with smaller groups of people more directly. But yeah, the culture of parties like that would make me feel awkward too so I get why he has turned to drugs/alcohol in the past in that setting. I do the same but on a more controlled level, haha.1 point

Oh definitely, smart phones are a social awkward person's best friend! You made me worry whether I was making stuff up but found the source of that : http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/music/musicnews/billie-joe-armstrong-love-performing-sober-1005031.html?f=rss . I get that if you're throwing a party you need to show your face as well, and we know they don't mind meeting fans. I guess it's more the culture of after parties in itself that puzzles me/makes me feel awkward on their/his behalf1 point

This really looks like it was the end of the tour, like for real, is like they don't care about latinamerica1 point

I wasn't fooled for a minute. I just heard it blowing up from the other room and all I could think was "what the hell is he doing?" 😂1 point

Yeah, the coolest thing about that post for me was that he said 8 is his lucky number because it's mine as well But seriously, that guitar is beyond awesome! I'm also happy about the return of the puppet1 point
-
Honestly 8 is just the coolest looking number, plus it's the traditional lucky number in China, I bet it's the most common lucky one for (Western) people to have after 7 and maybe 3 The puppet is back and he's singing1 point

Yeah I want to know too! Last word "hopefully coming" in May? So much potential in that photo.1 point

Sorry if it's not strictly on topic but this is so funny, Billie went on a commenting spree on this fan account earlier. "I still have this shirt". "Wish I still had this shirt." "That's the only time I wore a red tie that tour". Stahp already you dork1 point
