Billie's like those children who get a new toy and are all excited to play with it and do for a while but then get bored and don't touch the toy again.8 points

The boys will be going directly into the studio when the current tour is over. They will take a short break and record what is being leaked through some sources saying they think the stuff they've been writing on this tour will be one of their most ambitious and best work to date. Of course they think that but you heard it here and it is coming from a direct source. Lot's more Green Day in our future guys. I don't know if this counts as "news" but I didn't know where to put it.6 points

"Green Day belongs to the people. We are your friends and neighbors. We are the freaks and the weirdos. We are idiots on a rampage. We all exist together and are loving life." Oh Tré6 points

But that look on Billie's face is pure love. He doesn't care he's just feeling it out loud.5 points

I went to a friends' wedding last weekend, she's a casual Green Day fan and went to a show with me once. At one point I asked the DJ (who sucked btw) to play Basket Case, and suddenly the bride, me and some other guests totally rocked the dancefloor and screamed the lyrics. I think the whole opera thing gets an overblown sense of reality. RevRad has as strong a narrative as any of the other albums. Also, Billie has been so prophetic with his writing in AI and TCB that he has to feel so confident right now. Don't look so far into the ambitious part of the comment. I was just told that they are really digging what they are writing on the road right now and I would imagine it is fueled by global geopolitics and Billie, again, feeling quite confident in his thoughts. When he feels strongly, (love, politics, etc) is when he writes best and it could mean anything. Also, it was just a single person that said it although a person of direct relation to the band or I wouldn't mention it. As for "it could be years away", well that's true as 1) we don't know when the current tour will end and b) they have to record it, play it out a little, then release it. All that shit takes time. One thing Green Day has been fairly consistent with is the space between albums and usually averaging about 4 years. If I had a gun to my head and had to make a guess, i would say 3 for this one simply because Billie is probably writing the a lot right now, knows he's getting older (and I think this would complete their Warner contract) and they achieved what they wanted by going back to basics and making it just the three of them and when you add the other boys to the mix and you have what could be and hopefully will be some great lyrics and some good music coming once they hit the studio (whenever that will be). I am still on the upward trajectory with RevRad. I still listen to it and like it more every time.2 points

Ok, my car is straight up excited about GD coming around and I SWEAR on everything I hold dear, I wasn't looking. Totally just looked down for both of these. The mileage is on the GREEN side. First it gave me a 1039 for some smooth drving down Route 66: and a couple days ago I looked down and the GREEN side gave me Hitchin' A Ride.2 points

It's what I was hoping for anyway, that they've been writing and are anxious to get back to the studio. They've enjoyed this tour so much I'm sure they wouldn't mind getting back out there before too long too.1 point

Wow, that's a weird discussion. Personally, I am of the opinion that it is a false conclusion to think that every song by every musician always represents something they have been through themselves. Look, if you write a song, it is perfectly possible to write from the point of view of a fictional character (e.g. Bang Bang). Sure, there are songs which were inspired by the personal life of the one who wrote the song, but I seriously doubt that this is always the case. A musician is an artist who tries to tell a story or convey emotions. Every song is personal because it represents an artist and his thoughts and feelings, but you can also convey these feelings and thoughts without telling the story of your life in every single song. Do you know what I mean? You don't have to be a killer in order to write about mass shootings. And you don't have to be a cheater in order to write about cheating. But that's more about lyrics in general, not about the trilogy in particular.1 point

Me too. We went from nearly daily lives to none at all from Billie. Sad times, my friends, sad times.1 point

Agreed! I've said several times before that I believe that a lot of the trilogy lyrics are metaphors. The whole Lady Cobra / Nightlife thing is a perfect metaphor for the temptations of a rockstar- (or celebrity in general) lifestyle. I've always thought that Billie is talking about the tempations of drugs, alcohol and money rather than just sex. I know that many people hate the trilogy for the "cringeworthy lyrics", but I actually think that some of the lyrics are very interesting and deeper than you'd think after the first listen. It's just my theory though and I could be totally wrong1 point

THIS! Also, he's a writer and people didn't seem to get that. Just because you write about something doesn't mean it's related to you or about your or even about your life. I used to get that a lot in writing class too. People would ask if I was okay and stuff and I'm like...it's not about anyone...just something I wrote.1 point
