I think resizeimage.net is what I used Anyone else notice this lovely exchange on Billie's latest post? 🙏9 points

To me Bang Bang is biting satire on media sensationalization of tragedy. And a relatable wish to attempt to make sense of what the reasoning behind doing something so unthinkable could be....an attempt which ultimately exposes the reasoning as ridiculous. I think it's one of the cleverest songs they've written. Can't really see where it would be offensive, I'd also be interested to hear more on that POV.8 points

I like The Forgotten. Who the hell would expect a piano ballad from Green Day? I love when they try things totally out of their comfort zone. I think Billie sounds very pretty on it. It is not a song I would listen to every day, but I do enjoy it and appreciate the attempt to try something different. However, the fact that it was in that god awful movie series does hurt it.5 points

Mike was live again and it didn't save again, but I managed to record at least part of it. His phone seems to be quite old cause it's very LQ and in between the broadcast just paused, so there's gonna be a part missing in the middle ^^. Nevertheless, gonna upload it on YT again.4 points

All I could think of when I saw her tag was Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy from Spongebob Squarepants. LOL4 points

My fave moments were that guy shouting "fuck you Mike Dirnt", and Mike going meep! meep! at one point riding past people3 points

It's not often it happens on here but I am actually wiggered Granted it's not a songwriting masterpiece or anything but I love Prosthetic Head. Agree it's kind of a weird choice to not end with GR but I think it works. Apart from Last Ride In and Take Back, which I admittedly usually skip, the album really doesn't feel too long to me. Every song has its qualities and I think the overall sound is a perfect mix of early, "angry" Green Day and the more complex Warning and onwards style. This is all completely subjective obviously3 points

Yes it's Munch. 😱 And thanks for pointing that IG exchange out, I never notice the comments on there there's always a lot to scroll through. Cool to see him debating someone (and it irks me that people equate loving your country with never criticizing your country). Glad they backed down.3 points

Is it normal that #6 made me think of Van Gogh's painting called The Scream?3 points

Due to the location tag, I will add the photo credit once the band has moved to the next place. I think it's okay to post it like this, @Hermione?3 points

Your whole comment hit the nail on the head on how I feel, but especially this. I feel people judging him for it (which kills me), and judging me for still caring about him, as though I'm naive or something. That time was very real for a lot of us. I don't take it lightly whatsoever, it was terrifying. I feel like people just write it off as me being a silly fangirl who would give him a pass on anything. And that's just not the case.3 points

When a baby attends a Green Day show in utero, it is essential they get a souvenir to take home for once they make their debut 😆 My cousin attended the Cleveland show with me last week and surprised me with this at the hospital a few days later 😊3 points

There you go! Sorry it isn't as fluent as the ones from Billie. Mike should really save the broadcasts...2 points

Tbh, more of 21st CB in general. I mean, is it my personal favourite album? No. The same also applies to the trilogy. But only playing one song of 21CB and completely omitting the trilogy just makes this setlist seem a bit old. Putting the emphasis to much on AI and Dookie hits and underrepresenting other albums (as well as completely omiting Insomniac, wtf?) makes this setlist seem further stale. To top it all off, they rarely to never change it and this includes RevRad songs. I mean, we still haven't heard 3 songs live (seriously, I'd kill to see BOTW live! So frustrating that they won't play it! That would be such a high energy song!).2 points

Yes, Drama Queen was going to be on 21CB but was replaced by Murder City. I think that was a good decision as that is a much better song imo. I don't think DQ belongs on 21CB2 points

I love The Forgotten and I don't get why it being in Twilight would affect anyone's opinion on it. It sounds how it sounds no matter where it's been featured.2 points

Gah!! ^^^ I wish they still did that song live. What a gorgeous vocal. I like the current set but there are no quieter moments like this one that really gives him a chance to show off his voice.2 points

I don't think 99R is hated anymore than any other trilogy song. I don't think the album Tré has any songs that are generally hated, at least not as much as Uno or Dos I mean, 99R is definitely a good song live. I think it's pretty good on the album too I agree with you about Nimrod and 21CB but not about Bang Bang. Can you give examples of why you think that about BB? I don't see how it is offensive at all2 points
-
Yeah I saw that and she tagged it "mer-mans" That awkward moment when someone has to explain to Sara that the plural of man isn't mans2 points

I love how in the one picture you can see Tre's tutu laying there, ready to go. It's like #6 is an updated version of your profile pic.2 points

@JellyTime thanks for that but it was a multicam of the US dates I pretty sure. There was a link to this one. I love the first comment.1 point

So I'm doing a creative writing course, and one of the tasks was to write about a book/play/film/song or album that has stayed with me and why that is, so I wrote my feelings on why American Idiot has stuck with me for over 10 years - was wondering if it was similar to any of you guys? This was a stream-of-conciousness thing so it's not that well put, but you get the gist.1 point

That's okay and thats why we are here, voicing opinions that will prompt debate. Everyone has different songs and albums among favourites and least liked, goes to show the strenght of catalogue as it is not a case of definite poor works being disliked by everyone. Nimrod is a grand album overall, as the highs are exceptionally so.1 point

I'm curious to know how everyone would compare Bang Bang to Having A Blast, lyrically speaking? Both are written from the point of view of mass murderers. Was Having A Blast more successful for those who don't care for BB?1 point

Well, what can I say. I guess this is the right place to post that, because I literally do not agree with anything you said... It's certainly a different opinion though, as it's usually Insomniac that's deemed the more ''filler album'' (which incidentally, I don't agree with at all) and there are a few people that think 21CB is a terrible album (which I don't agree with either, I actually think they should play more of it live).1 point

I agree, expect for me, ultimately it exposes the reasoning as a dead-end. The reasoning features the parents' figures, and at some point we all look for our parents' acknowledgment. Especially when we're young and can't yet figure that out alone. In the song, becoming a "celebrity martyr" comes back to being "daddy's little psycho and mommy's little soldier". That would be a dead-end because parents will never get what world you've entered at that point.1 point

Oh right yeah... The thing about that is if you ask someone why they hate The Forgotten, 90% of the time they'all say "Twilight". But I hear that Twilight actually has good music. I haven't listened for myself but that's what I've heard. I love Paramore's song Decode which is a Twilight song Personally, my least favourite trilogy song is Drama Queen but I don't think it gets that much hate and I don't think the song is bad, it's just "meh"1 point
-
Yeah . I love the variety of Nimrod with songs you wouldn't expect like that. The lyrics are so satisfyingly angry ("I'd love to break your fucking teeth"!) and I don't know how anyone doesn't love Billie's snotty attempt at growling1 point

I agree, the lyrics are the weakest part of the song. However, I can appreciate the fact that they tried to do something totally different. He does sound very pretty on it and I do find it soothing to listen to when I need something quiet.1 point

You mean the civilised political discussion, emoji use or the punctuation? (jk Billie I know what you're capable of ) I'm not an art expert either but trust me it's Munch1 point

I don't like these conversations too. Mainly because there's nothing I can say about it - actually there isn't much else to say besides that it's happened. It's not really our business to analyze it in depth if that's why people bring it up. It's not funny and it's not as juicy as it seems. What bothers me more is that these conversations show how stigmatized addiction is. There are three types of people who've approached me about this and they were either making fun of him, judgemental, or in denial (conspiracy theories about how he made it all up for "rockstar image", anyone?). It's just so weird, so awkward.1 point
