Even though it has been almost five (!!!) years since Billie went to rehab, I still find it such a difficult subject to speak about. Just tonight on the way home from our concert, my mom was like, "So he was in rehab a few years ago, right?" And I just found it so jarring. I don't even know if there's anything I can say on the subject, because going through that period was such an impossibly difficult, scary time for folks like us, and I get that it's hard for outsiders to understand how much a guy we don't know's health count impact us. And his recovery has been the most intimate, beautiful, rewarding thing to see through this entire era. Our gratitude and the band's gratitude are both through the roof — like we know better than to take each other for granted now. It's not something casual listeners can possibly comprehend. It kinda bothers me that they'd perhaps make assumptions about him or about us as fans because of what happened, though.6 points

I remember reading a review where Billie compared Youngblood to Last of the American Girls because they're both about Adrienne. He said that LOTAG is long in the tooth and he likes Youngblood better. I love Youngblood5 points

I love Outlaws. It is such a different sound for them and I do love the lyrics.4 points

Well again, this was back in March during the first US leg. The more important note is Billie saying bigger venues = less freedom. I take that to mean that there is something more procedural about larger venues which is why they remain consistent. But that's been my speculation from the get go. Idk anything about it for certain, but lights, pyro and set pieces are all probably on a specific schedule and to constantly mess with that would be to mess with multiple people's workflow. To Mike's point...I think some people may not have the experience of what an awkward fucking crowd looks and feels like. And let me tell you, Cinci was fucking awkward. You know when what youre dealing with is just casual fans. My crowd at that show was much older, likely former casual fans and also in a rather conservative area. The best reactions only came from the Dookie songs. Even the RevRad songs were just so flat with crowd reaction. I mean, it was lame enough that Billie legit sat down and waited during Hitchin after an "Are you ready?" moment cause the crowd was not super there. Im spoiled from their good shows, but yeah it was...not the most lively. And they definitely didnt know his routine well (ie "hey oh") So yeah, idk, sit through that and then tell me that needed something like an Insomniac track the general public didn't really hear and I will laugh. I think we forget how big they are. And we forget that very basic and casual fans can and will make up a large part of the crowd. Or even first-time concert goers who might never see them again. I think they tried to make a setlist that gets to everyone and I dont blame them for being consistent to maintain that.4 points

September has come at last, The tweets are coming so fast, Shut The Fuck Up When October Comes I still laugh every time I see that video. Billie should write lyrics for Shut The Fuck Up When October Comes3 points

I was just thinking that a year ago, there were only a few days left for me to find out Green Day are playing in my country again and to buy tickets I wish that was something that happened every September3 points

When I had my mother to listen to RevRad after I got it, she immediately loved Outlaws. I love it too - everything in it : lyrics, music, Billie's voice which is just , and I get very emotional when I listen to it. I agree it is a noticeable song and it contributes a lot to the album being so great in my opinion (the greatest!). I love Youngblood and even find it a bit reducing to describe it that way. Youngblood is the only song on the album that can get me out of the very deep emotional state Still Breathing gets me into, as it comes right after. I think it's a important song on the album, it brings it great balance. They also played it at Good Morning America.3 points

i know it's from last year but I just found this and it's appropriate to the day. Happy September everyone, now go wake up that Green Day guy when it ends 😂 ETA: and I miss those teeth. 😁3 points

The solo, the bridge and the outro are probably the best parts3 points

Just ordered Dookie and Revrda picture discs, they'll come with a Still Breathning hand towel. Unfortunatelly the Nimrod double LP is out of stock already3 points

Honestly I would be disappointed if it wasn't them posting. What's the point of having individual verified accounts if it's still not you? Might as well just use a generic Green Day account if staff are going to post. I mean, this is the closest fans might get to direct communication with these guys and now we have to speculate and worry that it's not really them? That would be bullshit.3 points

It literally was at the same time, it's right there still. With their tour schedule what's early morning to us is probably closer to their late at night after wind down, after party, loadout etc. Billie's been posting at the same time of day loads before. People generally have their phones with them at all time these days (I certainly don't limit when I feel like retweeting or commenting stuff to business hours or whatever), the GDA interview might've popped up in his feed based on likes and he remembered it as something fun - he also shared fanart after commenting on it on instagram. Tre's been grammatically consistent the 8 months I've followed him on insta, Billie's shown that he can if he wants to. He's a grown man, he knows how to write properly. I interpret it as a stylistic choice and those along with what you care to talk about change over time, hell I'm scared to look at my own tweets from 2011. Yes, the sudden surge of content is uncharacteristic but imo that's probably because somebody told them to (and yeah that could make it sound contrived), idk, maybe that is the marketing strategy. Sorry, I wasn't really trying to talk anyone over in the first place, but there's my two (hundred) cents. Not saying you can't be right but I'm not seeing any damning evidence so I'm happy to pretend for now2 points

That song would have fit well on RevRad. It was so topical but sadly overlooked.2 points

And it's a very nice one too I've been fangirling over Billie's Hey-ohs in the fangirls thread before and I will do it again.2 points

Tre was adding instagram stories from a truck stop in the dark and the bus around the same time though. Call me naive but I'll believe it's mostly them until proven otherwise. They all have phones and *some* downtime2 points

I don't know if it was the same time or not but Tre has had IG for over a year before any other GD member or even before it was officially public so it's not surprising to me if he is posting IG stories in the middle of the night if they are at a truck stop. It is however very strange to me that anyone would be bothered retweeting about an interview at 5 or 6 in the morning. Like I and others have said, Tre/Billie suddenly talking in full grammatically correct sentences and essentially becoming committed to marketing the band etc rather than just posting nonsense is uncharacteristic.1 point

Caught that one, too. I'm already uploading it to my YouTube. Should be finished in about 25 minutes :-)1 point

Youngblood is my least favorite on the album, some of my least favorite lyrics ("I want to hold you like a gun"?), but there are a couple lines I like. Of course the "Fuck you I'm from Oakland", and "She's the cedar in the trees of Minnesota", since I didn't get that was a reference to Adrienne being Lebanese until Billie posted a guy with a Lebanese flag at a show with that lyric.1 point

I've just realised that there's a hey-oh at the start of Rusty James on Demolicious.1 point

Yeah the more they tweet, the less I think it's them. Like what time is it where they are right now yet Tre is retweeting GDA's interview with the band? Riiiight.1 point

I believe Tre's tweets are also basically management tweets now too. When he initially started tweeting it was classic Tre, short, silly one line tweets like "Noice" "Totes McGoats" "Deep dish" "For realz?" However now they are generic tweets that sound identical to what would be posted on Green Day's twitter and slightly modified to appear to be posted by Tre.1 point

So I'm bringing this back up cause you asked and I finally went back and found it. It was in a Rolling Stone interview from March. There were a couple answers that I thought helped point to the reasoning though they weren't super direct: How did the club tour go that you guys did a few months back? [Billie] It was great. We got to play old deep cuts. People were pretty stoked. When you play big places it's a little harder to go deep, but we manage to get in a couple. In smaller places we have freedom to do whatever we want. ... You guys aren't playing any of those [Uno/Dos/Tre] songs on this tour though. [Mike] No, not right now because the new record is being received so well. We have good problems. We're playing for two-and-a-half hours now. We could easily turn it into a four-hour Springsteen set, but I feel like we're putting out Springsteen's energy in two-and-a-half hours. Also, at a certain point you just exhaust the crowd. I saw somebody say the other day, "They played a couple of covers when they should have squeezed in some more of their old catalog, but I guess it's OK since they did 33 songs." Fuck you. Who plays 33 songs? Not to mention, some of those songs are seven and nine minutes long. Come on, man. Give me a break here. So especially with Mike's it's like...people get so demanding and bitchy sitting from their computers. Fuck you, man. They don't even have to be out here. I can't stand when we sit here and act like we know how their shows should or shouldn't work. We aren't them or the crew, we don't work the shows, and at some point critiquing turns into bitching and it gets real fucking petty.1 point

I really love 27th Ave. Shuffle, Pieces of Truth and She's a Saint Not a Celebrity. But I actually really love every song lol. I think I might've listened to it more than I've listened to any GD album, I just love them doing that style of music (probably why I also like Uno Dos and Tre so much) and the songs are all amazing. Plus the way it came out as such a good surprise means I'll always have great memories of it. I can't believe it'll be 10 years old this year!1 point
