Perhaps I should have said it's unintentionally hilarious There are so many little things that look a lot like "plot simplifications" (that moment when he fishes out a capo out of his pocket because that's what you carry around 24/7) and then there's the whole story - that's as if it was written by a kid. Everybody acts like an idiot and it doesn't seem very realistic, but I found that funny too. It's a silly movie but that fit Billie's acting, so it's ok. I enjoyed it. Actually I was thinking about OW this morning. Yesterday I saw an Elvis movie, and let me tell you, they knew how to make the fangirls happy. The whole movie is just Elvis being sexy, talking in a raspy voice (just got outta the state pen y'know) ofc wearing short sleeves, singing or laying around in bed. It was the corniest thing I have EVER seen, but I totally see how awesome it was. If we were in the 50's, I'll be one of the screaming fangirls at his shows, I have no doubt. Why I'm saying this is that watching that film, I came to the conclusion that Billie needs to make another movie, but this time with a less dorky story/character. I never really care about his acting but it could be pretty awesome to see him on screen again. Now I hope the AI thing happens and he gets to play St. Jimmy. I never cared about it or wanted it to happen but hot damn, imagine something like The Wall but with AI and broadway Billie in it. That would be so rad.4 points

Yay! A happy post from Billie! The above post was amended. It seems he first posted just the waterslide video with this comment: via billiejoearmstrong sometimes a water slide puts life into perspective #wetnwildwaterpark Aug 17, 2017 👍🙂3 points

Oh I love his Nurse Jackie scene! The scene from Haunted is good too but you're right, he's gotten noticeably better with each role he takes which is why I so look forward to seeing him challenge himself more.2 points

Wow, six times? That's dedication! Yeah I don't think a teenager would really get anything out of this film haha. I'm not 40 but I've been out of my teens for awhile now and I tend to connect with movies that target older audiences, but this one not so much, haha. The pretentious former film student in me (sorry) couldn't get past parts of it. But at the end of the day I didn't hate it, I just desperately want to tweak it. And everyone gets different things out of movies so it's good that some people are connecting with this one in a positive way. Haha, that's a weird description for it. I agree that I got a kick out of that. Like I genuinely forgot it was him and that he's hugely successful. It felt so real! I actually liked that aspect of it though because it made him seem more human and "normal". Not that I don't love his wild side, but it's always fun to see the other side. I actually watched this before I saw his scenes in other movies, etc. so I didn't realize how much he improved as an actor until I went back. To me, this and the Nurse Jackie scenes are his strongest filmed performances.2 points

Some more recent pictures- look at how sweaty his shirt is in the 2nd pic2 points

Right, like I get that he shouldn't have been working at the family business but his brother was only like "we just want what's best for you" after he got caught. And his wife was wondering about him working there too and I'm just like "guys, he's 40, maybe you should've said something in the last 20 years!" The humor is cute at times I think, but yeah some of it is cringeworthy. I do think it was one of his better acting performances. The film genuinely depressed me though and now I can't listen to Ordinary World for the same reason. It brings up my fears of never doing anything significant with my life, haha. Funny how it's probably a completely different perspective for Billie who had fame and success come at such a young age and probably worried more about being successful with his home life/family since he already had the career side of things. Oh, does he? I completely missed that. I think they might've underplayed it a bit. That's good though. I think they were weak on selling the "still okay" part because they played up how much he felt like he missed out something amazing, and then did a weak job of showing how he found the "still okay" aspects. Maybe it's because I don't have a spouse and kids so my perspective might be different but to me just having those things and completely hating your job/not doing the thing you're passionate about in some capacity is not fulfilling at all. But yeah, I did miss the part where he ends up teaching guitar. That makes it better but should've been a more memorable scene I think, haha.2 points

I kind of liked the movie because of Billie, but I agree that the plot is cringeworthy. Also, it's interesting to learn that you can overcome a midlife-crisis in only one day. Good to know.2 points

Yes I totally agree! And everyone treats him like garbage to the point that it's just depressing. And so many parts of the plot and the things people do make no logical sense and the humour is cringeworthy. The acting including Billie's was all fine but I couldn't stand the film itself. It was surprising because I was expecting to be cringing at Billie in an alright film but it turned out to be the opposite2 points

I agree. I think it had potential but they went the wrong way. Like it should've ended with him rediscovering his musical side and maybe incorporating it into his life in some minor way so he has that fulfillment, but also can make his family a priority. Instead it's sending the message "so what if you're completely unfulfilled in your life's dreams, at least you have family." And like what does he end up doing for a job after he's kicked out of the family business? I'm so unsatisfied with that movie haha.2 points

Ordinary World (movie) is also in the category of things that are too cringeworthy for me to handle . Although in a twist it's not Billie's acting that makes me cringe but the terribleness of the writing/plot.2 points

Viva la Gloria is practically perfect, but the melody and harmonies after the guitars kick in especially are like a drug to me This from St. Louis last night is Billie at his finest, I love him so much (#kfadhatersgohome)2 points

Anyone else notice Billie is now following @caloriecorrect on IG I believe he has unfollowed the face mask company so I guess the skin is under control but now it's his weight that's bothering him.2 points

This is why I say the movie is very relatable if you're of the age and have kids. The "still okay" part is the message that at some point in your life, you start living for your kids' futures and come to terms with your own past. It doesn't mean music can't still be a part of his life (he puts up a sign at the guitar shop for kids guitar lessons, he gets his daughter the guitar you know he wanted and he offers to start a band with her) but your focus shifts so that it's no longer all about you. That may not sound uplifting when you're 20, but it can be a very satisfying thing at 40 to come to terms with. That was the message of the movie. ETA: Further I think the movie did a good job of showing how his life was now markedly different from that of his single friends who still only focus on themselves. Sad and confusing for him at first, but in the end he sees the good.1 point

It seems like he's been a really naughty boy lately I don't know. I found it on Twitter but it didn't say what show it was from. I guess someone is going to have to do some detective work.1 point

I was wrong. TLE just posted about an October tour with another band. So unless they're doing some shows in the second half of October...seems like a weird comment to make if there's NOTHING going on. On another note. It's funny how Billie went from more livestreaming/posting etc. than usual, to almost none. Hope he's not over it already!1 point

Slightly off topic, but hey admins/staff/people of importance here, what's the plan with that interview? Are you posting it soon? Sorry for being curious, but I bet it's a gem, cause you guys probably asked the best questions! :-D1 point

Billie Joe is a better songwriter and performer now than he was in the 90's. AI and 21CB are musically and lyrically Green Day's best and is nothing like other albums1 point

I love how GD's favourite pictures to post from shows are ones where two or more of them are playing together looking like the best of friends, it's adorable1 point

Love his latest Instagram post! I love that he doesn't care about fans turning away from them because of their opinion. People who ask them to "stick to music" and stop being political just don't understand that Green Day's political views and their music are the same thing. You can't have the one without the other.1 point
