Well, obviously him posting the 86 video is a signal that the Tubbies will be playing Gilman, home of the 86ing (Side note: I would kill to hear 86 live)8 points

Live Tre's holiday pics. Maybe Insomniac was just referring to the fact that he was up all night watching old GD clips. I can sympathize. π3 points

Funny that he should post anything related to Insomniac, when they hadn't played a single song from that album on tour. However, this is exciting!3 points

AI, BOBD and Holiday are some of my favorite videos. I love Sam's work. I don't care if he's a jerk, as long as I just get to watch the videos, I don't have to work with him. π3 points

I agree that JOS and WMUWSE are boring, but for me it's only because GD aren't in them. I HATE videos that the band don't appear in, so I'll be really disappointed if they're not in FN, I'll probably love it if they are. Simple as that. π ETA: Reading the comment on album output, I realized that they are as prolific now as they were in their twenties: 1992-2001 (age twenties): 5 albums 2002-2011 (age thirties): 2 albums 2012-present (age forties): 4 albums so far and they are only halfway through their forties. At this rate, they could beat their output from the nineties.2 points

Anyway, let's all share a moment of anger at Billie repeatedly teasing us with Insomniac songs in the downtime and then not playing anything from that album for the whole tour. Looks like it! Me too. It's one of my favorites.2 points
-
I think it's a personal choice. They love Forever Now and they love playing it. I can't wait to get a video of a nearly seven minute song!2 points
-
I'd be happy with either Forever Now or Ordinary World as the next single. OW makes more sense, but I like the unconventional choice of FN. Either way, I don't expect it to do anything phenomenal on the charts. You have to remember, this is the 4th single. The spotlight's not on the album like it was last summer/fall. Other than WICA and WMUWSE, no fourth single of theirs has done that great.2 points

Huh it's not that I really care about the sales but I suppose they do (even though it often doesn't look like it). It is a similar kind of song, but idk...I don't complain - FN is actually one of my favorites from revrad - but I just expect it to not be very successful on radio. It didn't work for me at the first listen and I can't imagine it becoming a major hit. There's only one station I repeatedly heard Bang Bang, SB and RevRad on. I caught BB and SB on TV a couple times but that's it. If SB sort of fell flat (and it was a fucking sample from the company that wrote songs for One Direction, how more radio-friendly could they really try to go withought completely losing their trademark sound), I can't imagine FN doing well. And I can't wrap my mind around them doing this after the train wreck called revrad. I agree that OW would mean playing it safe and perhaps trying to do another Good Riddance, but chances are that it would actually work out. The streaming numbers of OW are much higher of any other song's. It'd have a much better chance of succeeding commercially. With that being said, I love both SN and FN and I'll very much enjoy hearing them on the radio, no matter how rare that would be. And I actually have respect for Green Day for picking an ambitious single instead of going the easy route. Yes and yes. I just hope he doesn't make another Jesus Of Suburbia2 points

I freakin' love all of it. It's actually the reason why Kerplunk is my favourite album (pre-2000's). Those songs make me so happy and I love Billie's younger voice. There, my most unpopular opinion.2 points

Have any of the singles really ~worked~ to a greater extent though? It is slightly long but it's as good a choice as any other (aka the best choice), they may as well. Leaving this here as well, what Billie said on Absolute Radio: (Thanks to @ThranaM for the upload in the Hyde Park radio broadcast thread)2 points

Exactly a year ago today, I became a fan of Green Day, and I can honestly say it has been the best year of my life. This band has changed my life so much in a year. They've made me a different person, a much better person. They've taught me so much about music - I've discovered so many great bands because of them. They've made me so much more aware of what is/was happening in the world, both in the past and the present. I never thought three guys on the other side of the world could have such an impact on me. I love everything about this band - their music, their live shows, their attitudes and opinions towards different topics, their sense of humour. They never fail to make me smile. I just love this band so much and I'm so proud to call myself a Green Day fan.2 points

There's just something special about Nimrod to me, that slightly surfy/retro vibe going on and so many diverse songs with great lyrics. Dookie and AI are great but they're more, like, focused on one thing. I like it best when GD are quirky and have variety so Nimrod is perfect for me. And aww I love the Nuclear Family countdown, it's amusing2 points

I figured a lot of people would be interested in the history and tech info on Blue and all it's backups/replacements so I've made this list using info I've come across in interviews videos, and all random places. I've tried to include evidence where possible. Some info/guitars may be incorrect or missing, I've just made off the best of my knowledge. If you have anything to add or fix, definitely please let me know Blue - Fernandes Stratocaster "Revival" RST-50 (1982 - Present): This was the guitar originally owned by Billie's guitar teacher and later bought by Billie's mom as a gift for Billie. This guitar was used to record a lot from 39/Smooth till Nimrod. This one has been seen throughout the years with all different sticker. - Body, neck, and pickguard appear to be original parts judging by the look of them now. You can tell the pickguard is original judging by the cracks it has and the dodgy cutting where the new pick up was put in. Billie's guitar tech has also confirmed it's the original neck in the comments. - Bridge pick up was replaced with a Bill Lawrence L-500XL and then later a Seymour Duncan SH4 which he has used ever since replacing the BL though he has replaced the SH4 a few times. You can tell as the pick up colour sometimes changes from completely black to black and white, and completely white. The pickup is also angled. - Neck and middle pickups are most likely original as he doesn't actually use these ones anymore as they were disconnected when the bridge pick up was installed. - Tuning pegs/posts were upgraded to Sperzels around 1994 and have most likely been changed to newer ones a few times. - Saddle was changed to String Saver High Performance Saddles sometime after 1994. Proof of Saddles here. - String tree has also been changed from just one to two of them. Picture with one and two here. - Strap locks were changed to Schaller strap locks. - The tone pots are not used and the volume pot has been replaced with a 500K Seymour Duncan Yngvie "Fast Pot" - Inside electronics/wiring has most likely been changed over time. No proof of this but judging by the age it's entirely possible. - All other parts are most likely original though there is no way to be 100% sure without official confirmation. - Guitar strap is a red Ernie Ball strap. Blue Replica - Fender Stratocaster (1997 - 1999) Around Nimrod era Billie started using a replica of Blue with different stickers that was made by Fender rather than Fernandes. It's rumoured that he used multiple though all the pictures I've seen all to appear to be the exact same stickers in the exact same spot. - Fitted with Seymour Duncan SH4 on angle - Has logo on headstock sanded off. - Sprezels tuners. - All other parts appear to be original. American Sunburst Fender Stratocaster (2004 - 2005) This was used as a back up for Blue during the American Idiot tour. - Fitted with Seymour Duncan SH4 on an angle - Most likely fitted with Sprezels tuners - All other parts appear to be original. Blackout Telecaster (2009 - 2014) Starting the 21st Century Breakdown tour, Billie started using this guitar as a back up for Blue. This one had multiple copies made and Billie gave a lot away to fans who played on stage during this time. - Fitted with a Seymour Duncan SH4 angled. - Controls simplified to one volume knob. - Pickguard made by WD - All info can be seen on Rig Rundown. - All other parts appear to be original. Azul - Dark Blue Fender Stratocaster (2010) During the South American leg of the 21st Century Breakdown tour Blue had to be refretted so was temporarily replaced with this guitar. Guitar was a darker blue with random stickers place on like Blue. After the tour the guitar was never seen again. - Fitted with Seymour Duncan SH4 - Possibly fitted with Sprezels Tuners. - Headstock was broken after being dropped on stage. - All other parts appear to be original. Buddy - Buddy Guy Signature Fender Stratocaster (2016) This guitar was made as a back for the Revolution Radio tour using a Buddy Guy signature Stratocaster with Easy Bay related band stickers and dark blue pain down one part of the body. One one was made and was later gave away to a fan the same year. - Pickguard changed to white. - Fitted with Seymour Duncan SH4 angled. - Wammy bar removed - All other parts appear to be original. Swamp Thing - Dark Green Fender Stratocaster (2017?) This guitar appears to be the replacement for Buddy and the back up for Blue. Guitar was debuted on Billie's guitar techs Instagram but hasn't appeared to be played live yet. - Fitted with Seymour Duncan SH4 angled. - No Sprezels Tuners. - No tone control. - All other parts appear to be original.1 point

No I see what you mean, we're practically on the same page. OW does have more mainstream appeal but selfishly I'm over the moon that they chose one of my faves - and their own too. If they put out OW as the final single after FN I won't complain at all. Same, those three are perfect On the other hand I've never even watched JOS and WMUWSE all the way through I'll wait and see though.1 point
-
Yeah those three are good but I can't stand JOS or WMUWSE, and his last two efforts (Oh Love and Kill the DJ) were mediocre and poorly executed at best. On balance I'd rather they pick someone else. But have to wait and see I suppose, should be interesting to see what he comes up with either way.1 point

Okay, fair enough. To be honest I'm more occupied with the video + drips of promo that we might get, rather than how it would do commercially. I don't remember where but I recently heard someone talking about the new Foo Fighters single, and (very broadly) thematically it was almost as if someone would be talking about FN, not comparing them directly but it seems sort of the same type of song. I've heard it on the radio here in prime time to so the duration doesn't seem like a hindrance, even if it's "only" 5.23. Ordinary World is a sweet song but it's essentially a poor man's Good Riddance, I'd rather they promoted the rocky sound. Which it seems they are1 point

Forever now will be the new music video, directed by Sam bayer, and somewhere now is the new single, in the UK only! I am super thrilled that Sam Bayer will be working on this mv. No question the best song on rev rad, and I hope he does it justice.1 point

I guess they wanted a simple punchy one to start, like that album's American Idiot. And then 21 Guns was that album's BOBD. I'm just sad that EJN wasn't it's Holiday like it should've been I think part of why 21st CB didn't do as well as it might have (after getting glowing 5 star reviews when it came out, some saying it was better than American Idiot etc) is that the AI musical happened a few months later and they opted to pretty much abandon all promotion of 21st CB in favour of promoting the musical (they quietly hurried out the 21st CB and EJN singles and that was it for promotion of anything but the musical and 21st CB songs that were in the musical). Might've just been that it already wasn't doing as well as they'd hoped and it just made more sense to go with the thing that was doing really well but it was a shame to see it overshadowed. It was in the AI musical and better songs on the album weren't - surely the only reason it was picked.1 point

Billie just said on Absolute Radio that there was gonna be a video for Forever Now, I think.1 point

So I'm at a birthday party at a restaurant and we're at several small tables. I'm talking to a friend next to me and this guy keeps coming over. He leans in to interrupt our conversation several times without warning, makes bad jokes, picks up my friend's reading glasses plays with them and put them on, helps himself to food from our table, picks up the oil and vinegar for no reason and puts it back down, takes my chair when I go to the bathroom....basically an adult acting like an unrestrained toddler and annoying as hell. Once I established the guy wasn't drunk my only thought was, "This must be what Tre is like!" ππππ1 point

Just thought of two more: - The bass solo in Makeout Party is the only reason that song is good. - I Run NY is a good song. Not exactly Green Day related, but it's a good song!1 point
