This is a random thought and I need people to share it with -- I was checking out Oakland and Berkeley on Google maps because I'm not familiar with the area and wanted to get a sense of where things were in relation to one another. So I looked up the address for Broken Guitars and went from there. I got so absorbed, I found everything! E 12th street, (Studio) 880, 80, Jingletown, Stuart and the Ave, Christie Road (with train tracks!), Pinole, Gilman Street, Adeline Street, Richmond, El Sobrante, Rodeo, Crockett... Man it was like seeing Penny Lane in Liverpool and all the other landmarks. What fun. Now I hope to make a pilgrimage someday. Thanks for listening 🙂6 points

Ugh, why oh why do you tease so hard with that backstage footage? There better be a fucking DVD in the works. Seriously nice promo trailer though! If I were a casual US fan I'd be super stoked about that whole circus coming to my backyard4 points

A+ local news story Also, don't know why but this is funny: "They ordered lots of food and I think Billie Joe had fish and chips."3 points

Billie's been making good use of the posting multiple pictures feature. It's nice to think of him picking out his favourite pictures after each show3 points

Yes, we definitely need to start a discussion over there about Billie and food.2 points

Cool, awesome! So there IS some footage even from behind the scenes, let's hope there is much more of it. I love that they used so much footage from the Nova Rock show again. That makes me kind of hopeful that they filmed this whole gig. Hopefully not only for short promo videos.2 points

Ha! I'm going out to Oakland for the August 5th show, so that's literally what I was doing today, mapping things out.2 points

Have you seen Cuatro? He was grossing out Lady Cobra by sticking his gum on the podium while he sang. He's always chewing gum before singing and will stick it anywhere. 🙂 My guess is he was going to stick it right back in.1 point

Absolute Radio, UK, just said they were broadcasting Green Day at Hyde Park next Thursday evening. Their online schedule doesn't go that far so will check tomorrow.1 point

I knew he had fallen off the stage and hurt one leg quite badly but am not aware of it being this serious. Thanks for investigating.1 point

I love that they did a tour trailer! I don't think enough bands do those now, so seeing stuff like this always makes me smile.1 point

There's nothing under the Sheffield show (October 18 1994) about it, but there is a mention back in April of a show in the Netherlands that was cancelled because he tripped over a tech and it says he broke his ankle (April 28?). No other shows mention this. I saw an interview once where they catalogued all their injuries that tour and Billie said he had some torn ligaments I think but that was it. He would have had cast if it was broken and it would have affected more shows I think but it didn't seem to (they played a show May 1). Would be strange if he still had something in October. Maybe he just mentioned it happening during the show. ETA: It appears they were referring to the May 2 show in the Netherlands where this happened1 point

I like to think he's saying "sing it with me, whoa". But that's not based on any evidence other than listening to it and thinking it could possibly be that, could just as easily be gibberish. That bit isn't in the lyric booklet so there's no official answer.1 point

This is so cool! especially at 0:25 They need more behind the scenes types of footage for us to enjoy.1 point

It's such a nice story . And if you lived near there you'd have to go and try the Billie Joe endorsed fish and chips.1 point

Don't think Billie was freaked out by fans gathering outside the hotel, I think he was amused by the singing but he daren't come off as laughing too much so reigned it in to end e message sympathetically.1 point
-
I think he was saying it half-joking, like he realised saying people are gathering outside the hotel sounds creepy as he said it and acknowledged that by faux-nervously saying the rest of it that way and chuckling. No way of knowing if he really was at all creeped out or not but pretty sure he's used to it, knows he's safe and was saying it light heartedly there. Apparently the weather conditions during the time the stage was being set up meant the stage wasn't set up safely enough to use.1 point

So many posts from bubblin'' Dublin Looks like the guys really enjoyed themselves here. For everyone confused about Billie in the stream. That picture was taken at Glendalough. It is an ancient monastic site dating back to the 6th century in the Wicklow mountains. The site is comprised of numerous features of immense archaeological importance including numerous churches, stone crosses, monastic buildings and a round tower but as it is a monastic site there is also a pilgrimage route through the site. Billie may have been finding the place peaceful or something. Having spent weeks working at the site I can confirm it is one of the most beautiful and serene places I've ever been.1 point
