  1. I love it too and couldn't agree more! Adding the drums was a nice touch. Definitely my favourite cover they've done.

  2. I adore GD's version of Working Class Hero! I love how they mix it up a little and make it their own, but still stay true to the song and respect it by having John sing the last few lines

  3. One of them is by a user by the name of Steven Seagull lmao. Good for a laugh. But yeah the average user and critic scores are pretty good.

  4. Seriously? They've repeatedly stated in recent interviews that they really don't care about that anymore, and they don't have to prove anything to anybody. And I feel like if that was their goal, they'd put more thought into the promotion of the singles I really don't think they made the album the way they did with the purpose of getting radio hits. Warning is highly praised now, but it definitely wasn't after it came out.

  5. No one of the best lines of the album. I was happy to hear it in the setlist but there are much better songs from RevRad that could replace it.

  7. I can't explained how happy/excited I am for tonight. My son & I & GD in my hometown But I then felt a little sick because I will be half way through my GD holiday @Hermione - I can't even remember what I posted in the tour threads but BJ did this huge stage spit in Melbourne & all I could think of was you

  8. I know that feeling too well. The ticket-buying struggle is real #firstworldproblems are my favorite problems tho

  9. Absolutely, I couldn't agree with you more. They leave their hearts and souls out on stage every night and pour every fiber of their being into the albums (too much carnage in those analogies- sorry!). But you put it perfectly- they don't owe anyone a thing, yet they're still giving us the best they have every day of the week. And if some people feel the need to rip on them regardless, well, I take pity on those small, angry souls.

  10. Wow, that's just amazing to me. To think that some people actually went through the effort of posting 0/10 and saying that the band had "betrayed" them for releasing RevRad- that just makes me want to puke. But then I realize that this type of opinion can't possibly be taken seriously. We're so flipping lucky they're still around, decades later, touring their asses off and putting out new music (which, in my opinion anyway, is excellent)...and some people write that they wish that they would have preferred that they hadn't even put this album out at all? That is not only completely ridiculous, it's offensively inconsiderate of the fact that this is an incredibly lucky situation for music in general- bands don't last this long, this is an incredibly rare occurrence. I'm going to stop this post here because I feel I'm generating the type of reaction those trolls are looking for. And if that's what fulfills them, well, that sucks for them! And for those that did- well, sorry, but I love everything this band does, millions of others do as well...and that's not going to change. I hope those poor trolls find their happiness and meaning in life somewhere eventually!

  11. I tend to forget about them doing The Saints Are Coming too The weird effects on Billie's voice are bad enough, but then you realise it's a pale imitation of Skids and very few people can match Skids, I mean it can't possibly match this:

  12. the entire band/crew were out (minus mike and brit) having a few drinks. security for the band, like harry said was extremely tight, i tried saying a quick hello to billie upon arrival but was very quickly shut down by personal security. tre was very kind to fans and told his personal security to back off so that we could all talk to him personally. an amazing night! one that ill never forget

  13. Or maybe because they're a different band and that's not how they want to do things? A totally different sound with each album isn't the only way to be a good band, different bands have different styles and preferences etc when it comes to making music. Why is a pop punk band making another pop punk album instead of a heavy metal album or a dance album? Perhaps because they like making pop punk music! But even though they've kept a core sound they've still experimented by adding different other sounds/influences to it on all their albums. And done some really bold things such as releasing a folk influenced album in the middle of a nu metal craze and doing a rock opera, having been known for 3 chord songs about masturbating and smoking weed. Do you think most punk or pop punk bands have more variety to their sound than Green Day?? I don't.

  14. They did try some new and different sounds on Warning and Trilogy and people freaked out and said those albums sucked. So if they try something new people get mad, but if they sound the same people get mad, What are they supposed to do? It seems to me that some people are never satisfied. As they have said in past interviews they make the music they like. It's what makes them happy. We are lucky that they share it with us and should be grateful. Just my humble opinion of course.

  15. There's no denying (at least to myself) that RevRad contains some cringey lyrics. But it's nice to know that the same guy who wrote, say, Jesus of Suburbia, can sometimes miss the mark too he's just a human with a lot of stuff to say and sometimes can't quite convey it, but his point always comes across and meaning can always be found.

  16. I could care less if people like Green Day or not, but I love laughing at a good portion of these people. I think we all know who I'm talking about. The "true punks" who always talk about how Green Day sold out and that American Idiot is just pop which automatically makes it bad or something.

  17. I was obsessed with KYE when it came out. I still think it's an awesome song. Simple but powerful, and I just love the guitar sound. I agree with this. And for me, 21CB doesn't have any filler at all. I adore it. Everything is a joke to the internet there are literally always comments bringing artists down, no matter who it is. I think it's this need to look like you're not following the crowd when actually nobody cares lol. Apparently being excited about a thing isn't cool but whatever, I'm excited about my favourite band. Sue me!

  18. I guess I just view the album totally differently to you. AI is a stadium rock style rock opera with a story told through characters, a concept album. RevRad is simpler songs with a classic rock influence, with no characters, story or concept, just songs written from Billie's POV. So I don't see it as labouring at the AI formula. And I don't think writing about politics is a rut. It's just natural for a writer to expand outside their personal life to wider issues of society/politics etc as they mature and Billie progressed to that starting with Warning and then more fully through AI and beyond. He writes about what he cares about and politics/what's happening in the world beyond his own front door is part of that. Even on the trilogy where it was largely excluded because the theme of the albums was a mid life crisis/party thing he couldn't resist getting 99 Revolutions in there. It's just something he feels motivated to write about.

  19. I also really love the variety. If I want something "heavier" and super conceptional, I'll listen to 21CB. If I want a dancy rock banger, I prefer the trilogy etc. RevRad is the honest, personal and kinda nostalgic record. It's not like the old albums disappear with the new one, so there's something for everyone. One thing I really love about RevRad: Billie often said AI is about him, but he expressed himself by using characters, kinda distancing himself from it. In RevRad he's using the "I" a lot and of course "My name is Billie and I'm freaking out". I just like that development. It makes us connect more with the songwriter.

  20. I do think the lyrics can be on the simple side. But to me that's not necessarily a bad thing, more complicated or abstract lyrics can be good but so can more simple and direct ones. I relate to Somewhere Now more than I relate to any other Green Day song and I think the album is full of deeply personal (eg "I'm like a son that was raised without a father, I'm like a mother barely keeping it together"), honest (eg "My name is Billie and I'm freaking out..."), reflective/nostaglic (eg Outlaws, Youngblood, Somewhere Now/Forever Now) and relatable (eg Still Breathing, SN/FN again, Troubled Times and the other songs expressing despair with the current state of the world) lyrics. Whether they're good is personal taste but they feel very much inspired to me.

  21. Don't really know what I can say because I think RevRad contains Billie's most honest lyrics yet . Think of Forever Now or Still Breathing, or any of the songs really, it's all his honest feelings about his personal experiences and struggles or outlook on the world. I even like the more light hearted lyrics, like in Youngblood where they're appropriately fun and slightly silly because he's looking back fondly on his young, carefree days falling in love. I actually think it's on another level of honesty, rather than speaking through characters or going for any kind of concept that stuff is all stripped back and it's just him writing songs from a personal and direct place. Everyone's entitled to their opinion of course but I have no complaints! Still listen to it almost daily.

  22. I think Rev Rad is absolutely brilliant. They tried some things they haven't done before. While one particular song is dire, the rest are amazing. I love that you can hear the classic rock influences throughout the album. And I feel most of the lyrics are so heartfelt. I feel like Billie let us into his soul. The only thing I would change is one particular song, other than that I'm thrilled with the album.

  23. This makes me sad. I think RevRad is wonderful and has some of BJ's best ever songwriting.
