Green Day Have A “Machiavellian Catalogue Of Shit” We’ve Never Heard That Will “All Come Out” One Day “Yeah, we kind of have a Machiavellian catalogue of shit lying around,” laughs bassist Mike Dirnt. “We have SO much stuff, and some of it has morphed into other songs… you know, a song that took 10, 20 years to evolve but started off as a jam or started off as us singing a different lyric to it or whatever. I mean, there’s little opuses in other songs and things like that we’ve done that people have never heard. “What’s cool is that a lot of it’s recorded really well, too,” Dirnt reveals to Music Feeds. “So a lot of that stuff – there’s cassette tape, demo tape stuff – but there’s also stuff that was recorded very well that sounds like it could be on a record, you know? We just didn’t put it out. Which is really nice the way recording is nowadays, it’s so cheap to record things that sound great, not like those crappy cassette tapes. But we do have a lot of those as well [laughs] it’s really neat.“I don’t know when they’ll see the light of day, but me and [frontman] Billie always said ‘at some point everything comes out in the wash’. So, you know, at some point it’ll all come out.”“We’re not in any hurry to do that because this band has never really been in the business of looking backwards,” he chuckles. “Maybe some day when we’re older, then we’ll look back. At this point, I have stopped and smelled the roses finally, I think. IKR! Longview sounds strange at that speed though. I was looking up the lyrics to al of the dookie songs to see when it would speed up, and surprisingly there were no mentions of 'time' from having a blast to Basket Case Evryting from sassafras roots onwards was just a mess! Here's another one:

In the show My Name Is Earl, there is an episode where Darnell is telling somebody all the great things about America and he lists it something like: Rollercoasters, bacon cheeseburgers, fireworks, GREEN DAY, maui wowie... I guess it's a joke, like you think he's talking about the band but he's listing types of weed after that.

I just wrote this song for the June kindergarten program at my school. Instead of graduation they have Teddy Bear Day (throughout the year each class makes teddy bears with 8th graders). At this program they present their bears and sing songs for their parents. This song highlights special events from the school year. The songs are kinda lame so I decided they needed a cool, new song... I know it's corny, but I had to share! "Green K" (sung to the tune of "Basket Case") *the lines in parentheses are just for reference Do you want to hear (Do you have the time...) The kindergartners cheer About all of the fun we had through the year? First was Halloween (I am one of those...) And then Thanksgiving Feast The food we made was good, but we hardly eat Gingerbread houses made a mess (Sometimes I give myself...) We took a ride on Polar Express It all keeps adding up We're always having fun And now we bet you wish you were in grade K! (Am I just paranoid...) Our moms came for tea (I went to a shrink...)
