  1. You can play a song critical of organised religion and still be down with Jesus. However there's no way to tell if he just meant it lightheartedly or neutrally or what from the way he said it, literally anyone can say "thank you Jesus" in reference to Easter (since it's about the story of Jesus dying for humanity) whether it's a devout Christian speaking sincerely about a belief or any random person just referencing what it's about.

  2. "If this is what they call the good life, i want a better way to die" I loved this line when i first heard it, but i feel like i'm just now really getting it. It couldn't sum up how i feel right now any better.

  5. I was reading the lyrics to Jaded and honestly don't think I had ever considered them, I mean I've heard the song a million times but I'm a drummer so I normally focused on Tre...any way the lyric "Always move forward / Going straight will get you nowhere" struck me as really profound. I love Green Day so much.

  6. Well the only time I've ever heard him talk about religion or god is to be totally disparaging and say he doesn't exist etc (unlike Billie and Mike who take a more agnostic stance). The end sentence is clearly sincere but the thanks Jesus comment could be a light hearted opener. Plus there's the thing where you get people who aren't religious at all but still think Jesus as a historical figure was a cool guy, throwing another possibility into the mix. He might have private beliefs we don't know about or have changed his beliefs but unless I hear otherwise I'll take it as neutral.

  7. That's awesome The choir I was in when I was at school did it too (around 2005). When the teacher announced the song I hadn't heard of it, but by the time we were performing it during assembly, I struggled to not sing it the way Billie Joe does, instead of the harmonies we'd be taught I have one that I bought at Wembley Stadium in 2010 - I can't remember what's in it because I haven't looked at it in years but I actually remember being annoyed they didn't choose better photos!
