FBHT times were the best. Best surprise ever when they just mysteriously turned up out of nowhere with 6 free songs when there'd been virtually nothing but silence from GD for a few years. And it was so much fun being new on GDC (which was actually Foxboro Hot Tubs Community for a while ) following their US tour and hearing all the crazy details of each show and reading Myspace updates from the Rev. Great times.4 points

Not to make it any worse, but yeah. 21CB was the first album of theirs that I anticipated with the fandom. The years of, say, 2006 and 2007 were quiet with a lot of random appearances but I was preoccupied with consuming every ounce of their career as a newer fan at that point, so I was good. But like...2008, 2009, and 2010 were some of the best times, man. I met my best friend through a forum when 21CB came out and 7 years later, we saw Green Day together last month. It was a damn good era. It was probably just after the AI musical's run in 2011 that my interest was waning under the life-change of starting college. And then I was given every reason to remain distant during the trilogy. And now there's this era which...honestly...is quickly gaining rank with me as a favorite era. It's a return to the fandom for me. It's the first era where I've been a proper, self-sufficient adult. It's been good times so far. ...Idk why this turned into a post about my whole GD history, but it did and I'm sorry.4 points

Not that anyone cares, haha, but I think I've at least narrowed my gdaversary to a month... i found nothing in my personal stuff to give me clues, but I found out that Mtv added the Longview video to its "Buzzbins" clips (popular videos they would play often) on March 28 of 1994. Therefore, I would assume if it was on heavy airplay I would have seen it in April of '94, especially if my cousin thinks we were buying Dookie by May. I am satisfied with a conclusion of April 1994 as my Green Dayaversary š3 points

Billie's first try at acting is my personal favourite (with bonus Mike and Tre)3 points

Yet my skepticism forced others to produce evidence, and thus served a noble purpose.3 points

My friend thought that the first line of Brain Stew was "I'm at McDonald's trying to sleep". Billie's voice is way more clearer in studio recordings now, but when he performs live, he's still quite difficult to understand.3 points

Okay this is not related to this at all but I just wanted to say that I clicked the link "GD.com" and I died because this is where it got me. To not go off topic, me and my dad looked through old boxes full of CDs in the basement and we found multiple homemade CDs from 2005-2008 with tracks like Working Class Hero (the GD cover) and BOBD. We did have great taste back then.2 points

I found out about FBHT on Teletext . Used to read the music pages on there and I didn't have an internet connection at the time. But luckily I did shortly afterwards.2 points

Y'all are making regret so much not exploring GD further during my two short phases in 05/08. So much fun missed Regarding anniversaries I've been trying through playlists to find the exact date I heard either Too dumb to die or Bang Bang on the radio in November and it's doing my head in that I can't But - random thought: Ā”Viva La Gloria! is surely some of their best melody work2 points

Reading that thread is like my first memory of GDC lmao. I also wish the Rev's myspace blogs still existed. At least I still remember the last and best one though ("Will there be more? I got you on my mind, England..."), even if it took a year and a half to come true2 points

I wish the FBHT thread still existed. I still remember @Trotsky being adamant it wasn't Billie Joe singing I could barely keep up with that thread.2 points

I would've shat myself at how good 21CB was if I was here when it came out2 points

We're fandom twins then (except mine was AI + International Superhits) I don't remember a whole lot about specific thread discussions back then. I remember originally I did mostly lurking and was more so active in the pic threads. Even if I go through my archives now, there isn't a whole lot beyond my posts from my first show. I will say though, that when I came back to GDC regularly last October, @Hermione was one of the few members that I recognized as still being here from when I joined. (Other than like, Andres of course) I also frequently get it mixed up in my head of which threads were GDC and which were GSB. I think I was more active on GSB. And then one of the first-ever forums I joined (possibly pre-dating GDC) was Fear The Dogs, a Mike forum. Which...seems so distant to me now that I'm half convinced I'm making it up. But the people I wound up closest to were the people in the Green Day thread on the Mibba forum. A small niche, but lots of fun during that 21CB era.1 point

The newest Instagram puppet video shocked and disturbed me a little bit even though I know they are joking. The other one outside the plane is funny although it's dark.1 point

Huh, this is an interesting topic to discuss. I can't come anywhere near an exact date for my green dayversary, but I can narrow it down. If Dookie was released in February of 1994 it was sometime between Feb-Sept of 1994. I'm almost positive it was summer, although it might have been spring before sixth grade let out for me as well. I know for a fact that I was already in deep by September when they played in my city because my parents wouldn't let me go and I cried for days. Longview was on heavy rotation on MTV/local alternative rock stations when I first discovered them, so if anyone knows when it first gained some steam that might help narrow it down even further...1 point

I love that @stories and songs @MaraGreenDay and I were all beginning our love affair with Green Day in the same month . Although considering it was a few months after AI came out there's probably quite a lot of other people in the April 2005 club too1 point

I don't actually know the exact date but I know it was between other events (when my workplace moved and my dad's wedding) so I know it was around April 2005. Being 19 at the time rather than a child probably makes it easier to remember.1 point

I love that people always say what a nice, normal guy he is. And yes, he's itty bitty. They should have checked the kid's shirts.1 point

Today is the day I consider my Green Day anniversary. There were months leading up to it where I was getting more and more interested in Green Day, but April 5, 2005 was the official day that they wore me down and I decided they were my favorite band. I resisted for such a long timeāI was all emo at the time and thought their music was too punchy and upbeat for me. I'm glad they finally broke me, lol. Happy Anniversary, Green Day. The past 12 years with you have given me so, so much happiness (most of the time ), and you've only gotten better with age. I'm so proud that they're my favorite band. Wouldn't have it any other way.1 point

Billie does that all the time and I'd never actually noticed that 'the' is pronounced differently if it's followed by a vowel until it sounded weird when he didn't sing it that way...so thanks Billie, I guess? Haha!!! Uptight is actually one I do know quite well. That's a good lyric though1 point

I guess Boulevard does the same job as both those songs. I am surprised they're not playing them but I don't really miss them, neither's amongst my favourites. Excuse you there's a high note in Ordinary World that he nails perfectly. I've never heard him not hit the Gun note because those notes are falsetto. The problem with Still Breathing is that the high note isn't falsetto so it's hard for him to hit it from that range.1 point
