  1. I can count myself as an 'Old School Green Day Fan' , been a fan since 1992. Kerplunk!! That means I'm old too. 😃

  2. When Billie says "how many old school Green Day fans are here right now?" I never know whether to respond - does he mean a fan who's been around since the old school days or a fan who likes the old school music? Make yourself clear mister (and yes I know he doesn't know or care but I like to be honest in my screaming responses)

  4. I love how Words I Might Have Ate is quite different to the rest of Kerplunk. It's actually a really refreshing track to end the album with (I never listen to Kerplunk with the extra songs on it!)

  7. Probably not the days of the singles as we know them are pretty much dead now we most likely have to wait for them to release another b side compilation again

  8. The whole thing is based on his own experiences so I really think it is him. It's him telling the story of his youth. But it can be both, it's a character as well, just a character based on him. What aspects of the character/story on the album do you think aren't Billie? Thinking about it I actually can't think of anything that doesn't fit with it being him. Also I don't think it says he doesn't have friends anywhere on the album, and having a friend doesn't mean you can't feel like a loner/outcast - Billie's said he (and Mike) felt that way when they were younger many times.

  9. If you watch Heart Like a Hand granade Billie talks about how it's based on his life experiences. When he was young he wanted to get out of his small town so badly, like Jesus of Suburbia, he had several girlfriends that Whatshername was based on. His drug/alcohol demons (St. Jimmy), WMUWSE. It's not "literally" his life word for word but a lot of it followed his life to a degree.

  10. The funny thing is he'd probably have picked you I think it was maybe Leeds he asked someone how long they'd been playing and they said 7 or 8 years and he said "then you're probably really good!" and asked someone else who said 2 years and he said "perfect!" But I did the exact same when he was looking for someone to sing Longview. It felt like he was looking in my direction so I avoided eye contact, lol. I always say I'd love to go onstage but I'm just terrified that I'd freeze up or not be very engaging!

  11. Same here! I got used to singing nonsense, and never thought of reading the lyrics until recently, then I realized I missed out on a lot and the lyrics are actually great! I should never trust my nonsense lyrics

  12. This made me laugh I asked myself the same question, but in reality it doesn't matter because I scream at 99% of everything he says

  13. When I was at Newcastle station waiting for my train to Leeds to see the Green Day gig in Leeds, I noticed that the toilet door had an 'Armitage Shanks' fitting. Laughing, I remember thinking to myself ''wouldn't it be funny if they played Armatage Shanks tonight?''. Well they did just that and it was the only time that song was played during the European tour. Also when I was on the train I spotted an 'Armstrong Street'. How bizarre!

  14. Every time I go to my Green Day playlist, I always find myself coming back to No One Knows. Mike's bass playing on it is phenomenal and I just love the atmosphere of the song. The lyrics are extremely mature in it as well - they were wise beyond their years back in the day

  15. Holy fuck I took a break from Revolution Radio for like a couple weeks and I just listened to it now straight through without skipping a single fucking song and its so much better than I previously felt. Its actually really really good in my opinion and with the current climate of things its pretty relevant and a great way to vent emotions. Somewhere now is still my favorite. I dont care if it makes me sound lame but Green Day is really fucking incredible and I wish more people would give them credit.

  16. ^^ Yesterday I was listening ¡Tré! and I almost forgot how much I love Brutal Love, it's such a beautiful song, Billie's voice sounds amazing and is one of my favorites live, that scream after "something for my trouble mind" still gives me chills, ugh I love it so much and it makes me sad that they don't play it live anymore and probably never will.

  17. This performance strikes me so deep. I cry almost every single time, and it shatters me not knowing if I'll ever get to hear it live.

  18. I've never really read the lyrics from Armatage Shanks, and to this day I've always thought the line was "Brain dead, maladjusted". I'm kind of disappointed tbh haha

  19. I have a nice Green Day reference I've never shared here although it's already some years ago... in May 2012 I was in the USA with some friends, we were on a roundtrip from Denver through the National Parks in Utah and Arizona up to the Yellowstone National Park. When we passed through Salt Lake City, we saw a music shop and because one of my friends is a drummer, we stopped so that he could look at some stuff and maybe buy some equipment. While he was looking for his stuff, I spotted a picture on the wall and I had to look twice to be sure: It showed Green Day jamming in that music shop. Billie was sitting on a stool playing the guitar and the other guys were trying some equipment, too. I caught the owner and questioned him and he told me that the boys had stopped by his shop some months ago comepletely unexpected, they just came in like "Hi, can we try some of your equipment" and also bought some stuff. Tré signed some drumsticks and left them there for the owner to sell, but unfortunately, they were already sold out, so my friend, the drummer, didn't get some. What a bummer. But still a great story that makes me smile every time I think about it. Just imagine walking into a music store and finding Green Day jamming there.

  21. I just find it amazing how one band has resonated so well with me. I was listening to my ipod and "Judge's Daughter" came on. I rocked out and then "X-Kid" came on next. And I proceeded to rock out again. I mean I sincerely love all of their stuff. (Except for a few songs here and there.) /endmushycomment

  22. Good that we can rant about our Green Day thoughts here! I love watching random videos of Waiting being played live. And sometimes, I just go on watching interviews and biographical documentaries. (Reads: MTV Driven) They just inspire me to no end.
