When Billie says "how many old school Green Day fans are here right now?" I never know whether to respond - does he mean a fan who's been around since the old school days or a fan who likes the old school music? Make yourself clear mister (and yes I know he doesn't know or care but I like to be honest in my screaming responses)8 points

I just realised that the 19th February last year was Green Day Day. I don't know if that particular day was a one off or a yearly occurrence. But I don't care: HAPPY GREEN DAY DAY EVERYONE!!!!4 points

Billie Joe is number 2 in Kerrang's 50 Greatest Rockstars (number 1 being Laura Jane Grace)3 points

When I was at Newcastle station waiting for my train to Leeds to see the Green Day gig in Leeds, I noticed that the toilet door had an 'Armitage Shanks' fitting. Laughing, I remember thinking to myself ''wouldn't it be funny if they played Armatage Shanks tonight?''. Well they did just that and it was the only time that song was played during the European tour. Also when I was on the train I spotted an 'Armstrong Street'. How bizarre!3 points

I get you, I felt the same when he was asking for someone to go up to play the guitar - I think I could do it (even though I'm a beginner guitar player) and of course I'd love to go up there and hug them, but when Billie ran to my side of the stage and started asking questions like "Who's the best guitar player here tonight, where are you??" I just couldn't bring myself to scream and go crazy I felt a bit ridiculous, but also I just became quite scared to go up there at that moment and felt like it wasn't right. (Of course, the girl he ended up picking couldn't play the song at all ).2 points

I think he just means anyone who knows/likes their old stuff. Considering he sounds like he thinks 99% of the audience won't whenever he talks about playing older/rarer songs . Also pretty sure if only the people who've been into them since 1994 or earlier responded it would be extremely quiet and awkward2 points

I can count myself as an 'Old School Green Day Fan' , been a fan since 1992. Kerplunk!! That means I'm old too. 😃2 points

This made me laugh I asked myself the same question, but in reality it doesn't matter because I scream at 99% of everything he says2 points

I'm serious though, it's a really autobiographical work. He made use of characters to tell the story, and set it against a modern political backdrop, but it's basically the story of his own youth/coming of age. I think that's a big part of why it's so great, he was writing about himself so it all comes from a real place.2 points

Holy fuck I took a break from Revolution Radio for like a couple weeks and I just listened to it now straight through without skipping a single fucking song and its so much better than I previously felt. Its actually really really good in my opinion and with the current climate of things its pretty relevant and a great way to vent emotions. Somewhere now is still my favorite. I dont care if it makes me sound lame but Green Day is really fucking incredible and I wish more people would give them credit.2 points

Same here! I got used to singing nonsense, and never thought of reading the lyrics until recently, then I realized I missed out on a lot and the lyrics are actually great! I should never trust my nonsense lyrics1 point

I thought the same! I like to sing along to American Eulogy when I listen to it (at least in my head), but I'm sure I sing a lot of nonsense in this one I should read the lyrics.1 point

In American Eulogy I've always thought it's "the death is misleading the choir" instead of "the deaf-mute is misleading the choir" I can understand hearing deaf as death, but there's another word there that I never heard until recently lol1 point

That's what I thought too which is why I always hesitated to cheer but it could be interpreted the second way too right?! I'm sure he wouldn't notice if I screamed but, ridiculous as it sounds, I'd feel insincere if I cheered for something not aimed at me1 point

Another thing that could help is wearing a band shirt that Billie likes. Maybe Cheap Trick, the Clash, Operation Ivy, y'know? And if you want to play the song, practice it at home first1 point

There's no definite answer, but wearing something fun like a onesie or silly glasses might help and he often goes for people with colourful hair too. He likes flags so you could try taking your state flag. Marki is right that he said "if you have a sign I'm not going to pick you" at one show, I think it was Brussels. I'm sure he has picked people with signs before but I wouldn't take one in case he's having a day when he doesn't like them1 point
-
I'm not sure who it was, but someone shared on GDC that Billie told him "if you bring a sign, I'm not going to pick you" at one of the shows this year But I think he did bring up people with signs before, so you never know... I personally wouldn't make one and just consider it luck.1 point

Every time I go to my Green Day playlist, I always find myself coming back to No One Knows. Mike's bass playing on it is phenomenal and I just love the atmosphere of the song. The lyrics are extremely mature in it as well - they were wise beyond their years back in the day1 point

Had a real "oh NOW I get it" moment with Outlaws today. Love those songs that need a little time to grow on you.1 point

This whole page The mental images of both him and Mike either googling or having those pictures saved somewhere already are equally cute and hilarious1 point

I think it was just a Green Day kind of thing to call it an "Idiot Club", fit well for a band with an album called Dookie out and a frontman who would wear a shirt with "stupid" and an arrow pointing to his face on it. Self deprecating humour. I believe it was just called the Green Day Fanclub for quite a few years after that though - then they brought back the Idiot Club name when it was relaunched with American Idiot. So it is kind of partly named after American Idiot. Then a few years ago they "relaunched" it again renaming it Idiot Nation. As far as I can see the only reason for this was so they could pretend it was something new and get more people to part with their money by signing up, since it's just exactly the same as Idiot Club was with the same low amount of good stuff offered. Shame because Idiot Club was quite a cool and amusing name but Idiot Nation is just a lame "we're our own nation of Green Day fans guys!" thing and a marketing ploy1 point
