  1. I've been diagnosed with panic disorder too. It can be very distressing and disabling to live with. At one point when I was younger it was so bad I could barely eat for days and I couldn't leave the house. I had no idea how to cope with it and I ended up developing a self harm habit because of it. But honestly knowing Billie also suffers from it but still went on to be one of the greatest frontmen of all time really inspired me to keep fighting and get better. Sorry for oversharing but it's an awful thing to deal with and I'm grateful to Billie for having the courage to be open about it, it really helps to know you're not alone.

  2. I know this is an old thread but wanted to share that I also have severe panic disorder. It has prevented me from ever being able to go see a concert, ever, and I'm age 31 now. Glad to say I'm going to fight it hard core and his tour in march I will be going to. first concert and kind of comforting knowing such famous good people also have the disorder and able to fight through. Also on a side note a really good person I know has had similar issues and trying to make a movie with a few famous people on board. He stays at home with his mother and sister to fully support and take care of them with their physical/mental disorders. Would like to spread the word and help with the movie which aims to support and bring awareness to bullies and social anxiety and similar mental disorders/disabilities. check out the story at igg.me\at\zeebonewton

  5. Yep, double standards... it is disturbing that with celebrities it's being praised a lot of the time. Maybe it really got to me in this case because I don't think of Billie as this rock'n'roll god/icon/celebrity (although he is). I think of him as someone I admire, but more like a friend that I care about (weird to put it like that, but you know what I mean )

  6. I love Billie's vocal style in the trilogy. Been listening to it a lot lately and I'll be glad to appreciate it for what it is while other people trash it. Lazy Bones is so fucking dark after knowing what he's been through and Wild One has grown on me so fucking much. What a song.

  7. I read that one as well (one of the few before I decided it'd be wiser to stop ) and I found that line pretty fucked up too. I had to read it 3 times to make sure he actually meant it as some kind of a twisted compliment. First I felt offended for Billie, I don't think anything shows on his face - I know the author wanted to emphasize how charismatic he is, but how is that a good thing to say?! I also think it's disrespectful and just plain stupid to take that and praise it as a positive quality. Weird indeed!

  8. This is kind of random in general but I'll just stick it in here. I read a review of a Green Day show yesterday - the writer was praising them most of the time, however he mentioned something along the lines of "the years of booze and drugs do show on Billie's face". He didn't mean that as an insult, he considered it a proof that the band "keeps the rock'n'roll spirit alive". I'm not bringing this up to start any discourse on Billie (please). I found it very cringeworthy and in fact pretty disrespectful as well - because, you know, he might not be keeping anything alive had he not quit. It illustrates very well how addiction is normalized in the media. I just want to say that it's pretty fucked up that there seems to be more of a stigma attached to being in recovery/going to rehab than to being an addict but fitting into the cool party animal stereotype (bc honestly, how the fuck does that get acknowledged as a positive quality instead of overcoming the issues ). Weird! (That's my new theme word )

  9. I know exactly what you mean, a huge part of it probably is that he doesn't try to fit into that stereotype. Most of the time, he seems very down-to-earth. It's never been a part of his image.

  10. He must be blind either way Yes, precisely. Reading that review, it struck me how messed up this is. It's not only Kurt, the whole 27 Club thing is incredibly disturbing in my opinion and so is romanticizing/normalizing addiction. I mean, as a society, we are inconsistent - it's cool to be fucked up as long as you're a celebrity, but kids, don't try this at home and in real life, being judgemental is mostly a thing. As I said, weird.

  11. Yeah, if he really meant it as an insult, I'd just think whatever, the guy must be blind But to put it as a compliment like that was just weird and uncalled for. And that's a good example, Kurt's death (and addiction) has been terribly romanticized. It's true that praising addiction as part of the "rock'n'roll spirit" is not uncommon, but when I see someone randomly write something like that in the middle of an otherwise nice review, it makes me realize how strange and out of place it is.

  12. Yes, it seemed like the writer was kind of trying to be ~edgy because there was absolutely no reason to bring it up. How is this a compliment is beyond me... the fact that he meant it well made it even worse imo. Strangely enough, it's not umcommon - things can't get much weirder than when it comes to Cobain's suicide. It's been turned into a cool story more times than I can count. "He was on heroin and then he killed himself. What a cool, authentic artist!!!". It's twisted.

  15. I don't know if this is worthy of its own thread or not so just posting it here instead. Just to give some background first as not sure if this got much publicity in the States. Back in 2009, a group was started on Facebook because people were fed up with X Factor (the UK version of American Idol) being Christmas Number 1 every year. There was no longer any excitement leading up to Christmas about who would get the number 1 spot as it had just become a given that it would be X Factor, so a group was started to get 'Killing in the Name' by Rage Against The Machine to number 1 instead by getting as many people as possible to download it the week before Christmas. Against all odds, the campaign was successful and RATM became Christmas 2009 number 1. Back to the purpose of this post. There are a lot of people in the UK at the moment who are unhappy with Trumps views on immigrants and women, and especially his recent Muslim ban. A petition has recently garnered over 1.2 million signatures already to prevent Trump from having State Visits (not to be confused with banning him from entering the country as a head of government). Obviously the UK government are not going to agree to this, as it's just foolish to turn on our biggest ally following Brexit (but don't get me started on that 😂). As a result, a new page has been created, campaigning to get American Idiot to number 1 in the UK during Trump's state visit. Link here. The page is already gathering followers more quickly than the RATM page did, so I was interested to see your guys opinions on it. Despite having 3 number 1 albums, if successful this would be Green Day's first number 1 song over here. JUST FOR THE RECORD - I did not create this page, I just thought it was something worthy of discussion on a Green Day forum

  17. I counted the beats of the starting drum roll in Nice Guys Finish Last. They're 13. What a meaningful number to open a song like that! Also, my favorite album opener, Somewhere Now close second.

  19. Alcohol induces anxiety and weed magnifies it's effect so the mix can cause panic attacks, especially if you're prone to them. Curiosity is one bitch of a privacy invader well, let's say that if he's healthy there's no reason to keep us updated, because the last time we heard from him he was ok. And we will eventually find out if he's not, however , what good will us that knowledge do? Personally, I'm satisfied with Schrödinger's view - he's sober and high at the same time untill I learn which is the case.
