An interesting conversation with Dad who'd walked into my room and saw my GD calendar: Dad: I only know one member of GD. Billie Joe Armstrong. Who are the other guys? Me: Mike and Tre Dad: Mark and who?? Me (Louder): Mike and Tre Dad: What sort of name is Tre?? Me: He's the 3rd generation of the family to have the same name. Hence Tre= 3rd. Dad (Singing): Wake me up when September ends. Here comes the rain again falling on my head7 points

I also randomly heard Good Riddance on the radio a few days ago and it made me really happy Today I chose to listen to Demolicious as my soundtrack for studying, and I found it to be a perfect album to get through lots of boring stuff5 points

My parents first saw them on the Nimrod tour and their first thought was "how can just three people put on a show so damn loud?" in the best way possible.4 points

Don't know why, but I'm enjoying the hell out of imagining that scene It's completely bizarre, but today I've been listening to some GD I haven't heard in a while, (Redundant, Pulling Teeth, Good Riddance, JOS) and it's affecting me so weirdly it's kinda funny. I mean seriously, lately I've been listening to RevRad, Weezer's new album, some Nirvana, TOP, and some other random stuff, and BAM! All of a sudden I'm experiencing a feeling so intense it's like a flavor. It's like I'm back in spring again, just before summer, and I feel amazing like I did then. Apparently I've had Green Day with withdrawal. Green Day is the cure for depression dear world!3 points

I saw them in 1998 when they were probably on drugs. Billie for sure, he was insane. I was only like 9 , but I remember it quite well. They destroyed the drums and lit them on fire at the end before Billie did Good Riddance. I'm pretty sure Billie pissed on the fire too. KFAD was killer back then, don't remember it being extended, Billie had a leopard thong and fought the guy playing trumpet, dressed as a bee. Yeah, they had some wild shows in those days.3 points

The other night, me, my mom and my younger brother were in Dominos, and my brother taps me and says "It's Green Day" I take out my headphones and hear Good Riddance on the radio and have a tiny meltdown that both worried my mom and the other customers. It was great haha Don't forget GI Joe in pantyhose lol3 points

Yes, they are all very powerful. So many of his songs are. They feel honest, brutally honest sometimes.3 points

I don't know if I mentioned this (i literally forget everything i post plz forgive me) but in Brutal Love when he sings "bad sex" I keep hearing "butt sex"2 points

Absolutely, the staples are stale by now. Rotating would make the shows less predictable and more worth going multiple times.2 points
-
Alas, it's the victim of a discography replete with great songs in the same vein. They should rotate them more often during tour legs to give them all the exposure they deserve.2 points

The mark of a good singer-songwriter. Macy's Day Parade in particular, like Warning in general, is overlooked in terms of significance.2 points

An EP of Give Me Novacaine, Restless Heart Syndrome, Lazy Bones and Still Breathing would be cool2 points

That's why I love small club/benefit/surprise shows. They can play old stuff like Dry Ice, Judge's Daughter and 409 In Your Coffeemaker without the obligation to play the 'mainstream' Dookie and AI hits.2 points

Somewhere now- I have always heard "I shot the light so I can bolt at the speed of life." And I literally just found out it's "I shop online".....1 point

At least your brother was kind enough to tell you! My brother would make a serious bee-line to the nearest exit1 point

It's one of my absolute favorites. Such a great and terribly underappreciated song. I wish they'd play it as in the acoustic encore.1 point
-
It does. That's what makes Wake Me Up When September Ends, Restless Heart Syndrome, Lazy Bones and Still Breathing so powerful. There's personality embedded in them.1 point

Damn, I'd love them to play Knowledge again. They really should do that on the European summer tour with Rancid. Tim + Billie + Knowledge = Rage and Love1 point

I miss 90's green day shows. I love the simple power trio setup without the super big show production, it just seemed more intimate and a little more chaotic, they could just pull out any song at any time per request, even though they do that at times now it still seems more rehearsed. I doubt we'll see another tour like this show here:1 point

Lazy Bones is such a great song. To me, Still Breathing is the continuation of Lazy Bones. Both songs are so honest and personal. In LB Billie describes his struggle with his addiction, that he starts to realize that things are falling horribly apart, but he doesn't want to (or can't) change them yet. In SB, he looks back on this fight and can finally say that he's still alive - although it could have turned out the other way, easily. Those two songs in a setlist together would make me so sad and so happy at the same time.1 point

I hope they keep Private Ale. It's a song I almost completely forgot about but a while ago I saw a video of it from iheart and fell in love with it. It's so fun live!1 point

I'd probably actually shit myself if they played Private Ale at a show I was at.1 point

No matter how hard my brother protests that he doesn't like Green Day, I saw how he stayed to watch the American Idiot music video on the TV and then left once it had finished1 point
-
That'd be a great thing to do, but I know I won't be able to resist I'm excited to finally be able to follow the tour threads, since the shows will be happening in my timezone.1 point

And with a lesson learned: never trust the CD booklets because no one proof reads them1 point
