  1. I found the old journal I kept when I was 9 years old, in one entry I wrote that my dad bought me 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours because I got a good report card

  2. I just immensely enjoy how different the Network are. It's absolutely bonkers, the lyrics make no sense, there are laser sounds, and they wear masks and latex jackets and they pretend they're not Green Day. I find it hilarious and at the same time I actually enjoy the music - the guitar sounds are great. FBHT aren't bad by any means but I just prefer the sound of the Network. Also Mike sings more with them.

  3. Googled 'Mike Dirnt flying'. Was not disappointed.

  4. Someone with more talent than me has to Photoshop a broom underneath him. Mike would make a solid Quidditch player.

  5. Unpopular opinion: The Network is much better than FBHT. Roshambo is such a good song I'll fight you on this.

  7. I think it's catchy as fuck. Lyrics are terrible, but I like the little guitar solo Wow, really? I love most of 21CB's lyrics.

  9. Is it an unpopular opinion that the foxboro album is better than every green day album after american idiot? (Maybe only 21st can somehow compete.)

  13. Oh Love is fine But it should NOT have been a single. At least not a first single.

  14. My issue with Oh Love yesterday was that it was obnoxiously fucking long with no variation. Like...ok...I can handle your basic catchy riff for like...3 minutes. But 5? Jesus fucking christ, I was so over it.

  15. Why sell it for scrap?! I completely disagree! Someone should fix it up and restore it. It's a classic car, it deserves much more.

  16. In my opinion the lyrics of 21CB are the best Billie has ever written, even if they do have the tendency to be a bit over the top and derail the 'story' which strings the different songs together. Songs like 21st Century Breakdown and East Jesus Nowhere are lyrical masterpieces. You are, however, definitely not the only person who isn't completely in love with the album.

  17. Probably the most discussed lyric in this thread - everything comes back to Bmxcellent tits.

  18. I'd easily take SD&R over the Trilogy or RevRad, undoubtedly. As to The Network, I could never get into New Wave in general so it's no surprise I'm not a fan.

  19. There's a reason why the guys wear masks in The Network, if you know what I mean

  20. You're my new best friend except Roshambo is probably one of my least favourites on the album. Supermodel Robots, Spike, Reto and Money Money 2020 are probably my top 4. I know the words to Spike like the back of my hand! Consider this: The Network covering Youngblood

  22. Choosing between Roshambo and Mother Mary is like choosing between American Idiot and Dookie: both great in their own right. Yes, and I say that as a person who considers 21st Century Breakdown to be their lyrical and sonical apex.

  25. Is it really "lodged to fill another year"?? I always thought it was "we could fill another year". And I literally had no idea what the first part of that first line was until I read your post. Whenever I sing along, that bit always comes out as nonsense. I just never bothered to look the lyrics up. With RevRad, I got nothing except for Bang Bang, when I heard "I got my vol-u-vent" instead of photobomb. I still sing my interpretation because I like it better

  26. You can't make that decision in the unpopular opinions thread, not fair!

  27. Good Riddance: I always heard "Tom grabs you by the wrist" instead of "time grabs you by the wrist". I was like "who the fuck is Tom" JOS: I grew up thinking that the song was called Jesus Of Surburbia, instead of Jesus Of Suburbia. I blame this on younger me not reflecting on this in any way at all and also not speaking English. East Jesus Nowhere: Where he sings "and the cops of a new religion" I heard "and the cops of the married Christians". I honestly don't have any explanation at all.

  29. I loved Know Your Enemy when I first heard it. I just think the guitar sound is awesome. It's a great, powerful song. It's meant to be simple and repetitive, like a chant. I find it much easier to get into the mood to play that song than I do with Oh Love, which is just sort of...meh. I loved it too when it first came out, but how I feel about both songs now have made me see that there's definitely a difference between loving a song because I genuinely think it's great, and loving a song because it's the first new Green Day song I've heard in a while It's probably an unpopular opinion that The Network is better than FBHT....but that's what I think.

  32. I like Know Your Enemy, good and punchy and I enjoy it live (with being able to shout "raw ham!" in public the highlight). Oh Love does go on a bit and it's pretty low down in my trilogy songs list, but I like that it's something different for them and agree the solo is cool. I prefer Know Your Enemy but I can see why both of them aren't liked that much, neither were particularly good first single choices and neither are stand out tracks.

  33. Same. I don't mind Know Your Enemy (and kinda love it live, sorry not sorry), but Oh Love and I do not get along.

  35. True! Could still do with less inverted commas though

  36. Yep! I think they've outdone themselves with 'I put the "riot" in PatRiot' and 'bouncing off the wall' (never once admitting that it's walls) .

  37. Only just noticed that in the American Idiot lyric booklet it says "Zieg Heil" in Holiday (which is wrong, it's "Sieg Heil"). Thought I already knew all their spelling mistakes Also just reminded myself of the excessive use of inverted commas in the Warning lyrics: "trust" is a dirty word that comes from such a liar but "respect" is something I will earn in his "vintage suit" and tie for the "most" expensive price Virginia was a "lot lizard" from F.L.A. She had a compound fracture in the "trunk" "Mr Whirly" had a catastrophic incident he ran the drug cartel in "tinseltown" "Icon" is the last chance for hope stuffed in a coffin "10% more free" Unnecessary

  41. I've literally only just realised that in too dumb to die it says "lost somewhere over the rainbow, way up high". for he last month I have been singing "lost somewhere over the rainbow, hanging on to life"

  42. In Minority where he sings; "For crying out loud, she screamed unto me", I thought he sang "screamed under me". A bit perverted.

  43. TOO LATE I'M RUNNING THIS FUCKING SHOW. Anyway, I've misheard a shitload of Green Day lyrics in my time. I always thought "born and raised by hypocrites" was "go on and raise my hypocrite"
