  1. I guess I use GDC too often because last night I dreamt about reading a post from @End Of The World!

  2. I'm not kidding but last night I had a dream I went Christmas shopping at this huge mall (I don't know where it was) and Billie, Mike and Tre were there. They walked around to the stores and helped me pick out gifts for my family. Mike found this really cute shirt for my sister and I got jealous. I don't remember what happened after that. I think I dreamed that because I was looking up Green Day stuff on my phone before bed. LOL I must say though that they had good taste when picking things out. Hahaha

  3. Once I dreamt up a whole gdc shitstorm. That's what I get instead of sex dreams.

  4. Warning is definitely their bravest, its diversity both within itself and in comparison to their previous stuff shows a kind of confident ease that says "we know we're good and we know it too well to feel compelled to prove it to your standards".

  5. IMO Warning needs to be listened a lot of time to be understood in its entirety. I remember listening for the first time to Deadbeat Holiday and I was like "What is this, it's so different from Insomniac!?". Then I started listening to the album everyday. And today I consider Warning the bravest work they've ever done.

  6. Warning is so underrated. Some people say it's their worst album, but I don't think they've really listened to all the nuances of it. They just blow it off because it's different.

  7. I've been listening to Misery a lot recently! I just love how it's kind of a different style for GD musically and how it tells a story. It's so underrated - actually, Warning in its entirety is underrated!

  8. Listened to Nimrod in the car on full volume. Such a fucking great album, my favourite album after 21CB. And Good Riddance never stops being beautiful. I LOVE the way Billie's voice gets when he sings "in good health and good time." It's some good shit.

  9. Warning Defence Squad. It's my favourite album.

  10. It's kind of a proto-JoS or Homecoming. Warning has the political (Warning, Minority, Macy's Day Parade) and story elements (Misery) which laid the groundwork for American Idiot. Warning's influence on Green Day's overall direction is unjustly disregarded, whilst it still stands lyrically next to 21CB and AI as their finest works.

  11. Imagine Rotting sung by a choir of kids, how decadent would that be?

  12. Everytime I listen to Warning in full (I did it recently after a long time of not listening to it...) I'm blown away by how perfect that album is. Just the title song, Warning, is so damn great and catchy. I was going around singing it that whole day

  13. AHAHAH Now repeat with me: "I won't dream this post anymore, I won't dream this post anymore..." Seriously, I've never been addicted to anything, except for GD. But this place has something special (I don't know what) that pushes me to come here. Maybe I just love discussing with you all, or "I'm just stoned"...

  17. I don't feel the trilogy era was super positive but I have fond memories of quite a lot of the promo, like the Radio One interview where Billie played clips of songs and got in trouble for it It was fun waiting for the next video that led up to the release and I remember the excitement when I saw this one especially: It was exciting waiting for the next secret show too, wondering what new songs we'd hear and gradually finding out what each one sounded like. We know now that they were pushing themselves way too hard and the albums didn't turn out as they hoped, but it came across (to me, at least) that they were full of excitement and had high hopes at first. Some of it was questionable for sure and I did think that even at the time. I still feel uncomfortable when I see the photos/videos around Irving Plaza and that general time before iHeart, especially some of the stuff Billie was posting on Instagram. There are quite a few quotes from then that sound nothing like him and are weird to see, too. But I don't know, I don't see it that negatively otherwise. Makes a difference that I liked the music, of course. Though when I think about it, as incredible as the 21CB era was they were obviously exhausted by it - Billie has said a few times that the album drove him crazy. I don't view that as so different to the effect the trilogy eventually had. As for the album covers, they are very ugly but I kind of like them in a weird way now I dyed my hair pink and green back then and it matched my Uno Converse. A lot of the album art came across as quite lazy but a few of the pages were great, like this one

  19. I was Christmas shopping at the mall the other night and I saw a group of younger people walking by. One of them was wearing an AI tee shirt. Inside I was shouting, "Hey, hey, I love them too!", but of course I didn't actually say anything because that would be super weird. It's funny that I was so excited seeing a complete stranger wearing a GD tee shirt. I think it's because I personally only know a few very casual fans and I never see anyone wearing GD shirts, except at shows. We should have a secret signal or gesture to acknowledge fellow fans, you know, like they do in those elite secret societies!

  20. I wonder if they're tired today after being busy in so many dreams last night. Yes, I agree with everything being said about Warning too. It deserves credit, recognition and more.

  21. Yes, absolutely this. Warning to me sounds so confident and sophisticated. It's a really important album that bridges the gap between "old" Green Day and "new" Green Day. @Dakke said it well. If anyone's confused by Green Day's apparent change in musical direction with AI, they need only listen to Warning.

  22. Luckily, people on this forum love Warning enough. At least it seems to me being like that Agree. Let's take Misery - it has so many instruments there and together they make this mind-blowing song. I can't rank GD albums by what's my favourite or least favourite, all I can say that this one is pretty good. The lyrics are probably the main reason why I love it so much. And it's great that they did what they wanted to do, and didn't stuck with their previous sound just to satisfy their fans and they always kept evolving it. I'd rather be listening to their experiments and jamming than rehearsed sounding all over again for years. The great thing with this band is that they don't sound exactly the same as they did on their first live shows, which is cool cuz you can see the path and experience they have behind, and to me it's important and interesting, but through all those experiments they still sound like themselves, even if it doesn't sound like that at the first listen (for me Still Breathing was quite shocking the first time I heard it but now it sounds just like another GD song - thanks God for my patience ).

  23. I'd love to see that. They should hire you as a screenwriter for their music videos.

  24. Mike dressed as Satan as the two of them speed through town in the Broken Dreams car causing havoc! Lighting things on fire and making mayhem! Tre Cool is a cop that is trying to catch them before it's too late. Just when he catches up with the duo, a stranger appears from nowhere and shots him dead. It's Jason White - and he's wearing a badge that says "Official Green Day Guy" and he joins Billie and Mike in the car. At the end of the song they accidently drive into a wall at slow speed and they all jump out on the ground as the car explodes. The song trails off into "Outlaws" and the next video picks up with them walking around in a state of shock. It's today's Broken Dreams. !

  25. Watching James Corden, and they're doing this thing where you either have to answer a painful question, or eat something extreemly repulsive. James got asked: 'Name one artist you turned down for carpool karaoke'. He wouldn't say of course, and ate a scorpion, but I think we all know the answer.

  26. I wouldn't count out Say Goodbye either. I'd actually prefer that song to Revolution Radio as the third single. It's provocative and stands out when compared to the rather unremarkable title track.

  27. I agree with Maria Gloria as well, a lot of it was really great - the secret shows were the best, I wish they'd do some again. And some of the interviews were fun too but when I compare that time to today, I must say what they're doing now seems much less forced and I'm enjoying it more. Overall, I don't see it as any tragedy. Some of it was fun. And tbh, if I should name shows I'd like to have been to, Irving Plaza would be among them - that setlist omg.

  28. I agree with everything you said... I don't see it that negatively either, and didn't see it that negatively when it was still happening. It's just that now when we know how bad some things were, watching a lot of the stuff back makes me really uncomfortable. And you're right about the 21st CB era - it makes me a bit nervous about the huge RevRad tour they're planning, I wouldn't want them to end up really exhausted and not enjoying it by the end. And good to hear I'm not alone in finding the album art ugly I kind of grew to like it over time though.

  29. I can listen to the Trilogy any time and enjoy it like I heard it the first time. That's why these albums are so awesome.

  30. This is a generalization and may be wrong but I think most/many people who really love the trilogy became fans during or after that era. To me, the trilogy era was downright depressing compared to the AI and 21CB eras when they were on top of the world. With the trilogy, there weren't any hit songs, barely any promo, barely any touring, and of course the rehab incident. I still like a lot of songs on the albums but I really don't view the era positively at all.

  31. I really feel like they wanted to have with the Trilogy what they've got with RevRad now. It just didn't come naturally at that time, so they forced it. I think they tried hard to make everything seem genuinely fun and as if it was coming from a good place, when it really wasn't.

  32. The Trilogy album font was pretty nice, but the overall style of the era was either forced and garish (I never liked their personal styling anno 2012) or too spartan, particularly the stage backdrops, certainly when compared to the copious effects and art used during the 21st Century Breakdown tour. It always gave me the impression they were simply trying too hard to rejuvenate themselves and harken back to their halcyon early years, which is also apparent in the albums.

  36. Oh Love is one that I heard wrong when we started hearing crummy leaks of it. I heard "this amazing night" instead of "waste away tonight". Like in most cases, I think my lyric is better. I was so pissed when I saw the official lyrics. Maybe some of the earliest recordings were what I heard, maybe not. Don't know. Also, here's one I feel guilty about. "Scattered" is one of my all time favorite songs, but I can't understand any of the second verse: Loose ends tied in knots leaving a lump down in my throat Gagging on a souvenir Lodged to fill another year Drag it on and on until my skin is ripped to shreds Leaving my self wide open Living out a sacrifice but back to RevRad: "I'm high on cellular waves" sounds like "On my own cellular waves". and it's "pillows" not "pillow" in "Somewhere Now". What the hell does Green Day have against the letter S? TELL ME PLEAE! and "spirit's place to roam" is shown in infinite varieties everywhere I look.

  37. In Shoplifter, where it goes "But you'll be caught stealing", I always thought he sang something among the lines of "But Jimmy's caught stealing", as a reference to St Jimmy or something.

  39. That;s because no one knows what the fuck Billie Joe is saying. When I first became a fan I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the whole "rage and love" came from. Then I listened to JOS again and finally heard "I'm the son of rage and love" and not the "Imma sunna raichu la" or whatever the hell I though he was saying.
