  1. I didn't know where to post this vid so I'll just post it here... cuz I think it's pretty revrad.

  2. I agree with Maria Gloria as well, a lot of it was really great - the secret shows were the best, I wish they'd do some again. And some of the interviews were fun too but when I compare that time to today, I must say what they're doing now seems much less forced and I'm enjoying it more. Overall, I don't see it as any tragedy. Some of it was fun. And tbh, if I should name shows I'd like to have been to, Irving Plaza would be among them - that setlist omg.

  3. I don't feel the trilogy era was super positive but I have fond memories of quite a lot of the promo, like the Radio One interview where Billie played clips of songs and got in trouble for it It was fun waiting for the next video that led up to the release and I remember the excitement when I saw this one especially: It was exciting waiting for the next secret show too, wondering what new songs we'd hear and gradually finding out what each one sounded like. We know now that they were pushing themselves way too hard and the albums didn't turn out as they hoped, but it came across (to me, at least) that they were full of excitement and had high hopes at first. Some of it was questionable for sure and I did think that even at the time. I still feel uncomfortable when I see the photos/videos around Irving Plaza and that general time before iHeart, especially some of the stuff Billie was posting on Instagram. There are quite a few quotes from then that sound nothing like him and are weird to see, too. But I don't know, I don't see it that negatively otherwise. Makes a difference that I liked the music, of course. Though when I think about it, as incredible as the 21CB era was they were obviously exhausted by it - Billie has said a few times that the album drove him crazy. I don't view that as so different to the effect the trilogy eventually had. As for the album covers, they are very ugly but I kind of like them in a weird way now I dyed my hair pink and green back then and it matched my Uno Converse. A lot of the album art came across as quite lazy but a few of the pages were great, like this one

  4. I really feel like they wanted to have with the Trilogy what they've got with RevRad now. It just didn't come naturally at that time, so they forced it. I think they tried hard to make everything seem genuinely fun and as if it was coming from a good place, when it really wasn't.

  5. I love Jinx but I'm not that keen on Haushinka! I don't dislike it enough to skip it but it's just meh to me. Speaking of Jinx, I randomly started laughing when I heard Tre's "1, 2, 3, 4" intro the other day. I hadn't been drinking or anything, I was driving! But I think I was listening to it expecting it to be less funny than it actually was

  6. ^^^ WTF did I just watched?! Hahaha I can't stop laughing! I seriously loved it! Hope someone can show that to Green Day

  7. Must feel so different, but see, Trilogy turned some people onto the band. I feel lucky to be from the Dookie era. I was 5 or 6 when I got Dookie and it turned me onto the whole world of heavy music. I mostly listen to metal now but if it wasn't for Green Day in 1994, I may be into some crappier form of music and I have never turned away from Green Day considering Insomniac followed it up and was even heavier. So as a die hard fan for 22 years or more (holy shiiit), I will also say I love the Trilogy and exactly what it was and everything surrounding it. It is what it is! It is very cool that you discovered them at that time. What is kind of funny is my copies of Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning are all years older than you, which is making me feel old now. I was your age when AI came out and that album was the hardest to wrap my head around out of all of them being so different from what we had before.

  8. Yeah I consider myself lucky to have discovered GD during their least successful era. I was 11 years old.

  9. cool they're still getting young fans awesome and I was around the same age as you were when I got into them

  10. I agree with everything you said... I don't see it that negatively either, and didn't see it that negatively when it was still happening. It's just that now when we know how bad some things were, watching a lot of the stuff back makes me really uncomfortable. And you're right about the 21st CB era - it makes me a bit nervous about the huge RevRad tour they're planning, I wouldn't want them to end up really exhausted and not enjoying it by the end. And good to hear I'm not alone in finding the album art ugly I kind of grew to like it over time though.

  11. This is a generalization and may be wrong but I think most/many people who really love the trilogy became fans during or after that era. To me, the trilogy era was downright depressing compared to the AI and 21CB eras when they were on top of the world. With the trilogy, there weren't any hit songs, barely any promo, barely any touring, and of course the rehab incident. I still like a lot of songs on the albums but I really don't view the era positively at all.

  12. The Trilogy album font was pretty nice, but the overall style of the era was either forced and garish (I never liked their personal styling anno 2012) or too spartan, particularly the stage backdrops, certainly when compared to the copious effects and art used during the 21st Century Breakdown tour. It always gave me the impression they were simply trying too hard to rejuvenate themselves and harken back to their halcyon early years, which is also apparent in the albums.

  13. I also prefer Jinx of the two and I agree that scream does sound funny - it always makes me expect a much heavier song then Jinx too.

  14. I agree with almost everything you mentioned. Personally, I'd like to have a music video for Too Dumb To Die. Great song. And I'm so curious about the Cello part. Also Forever Now, just because, as I always say,"it's EPIC". I have got the feeling that RevRad will be the 3rd single though, and therefore also the 3rd music video.

  15. Everytime my mind tries to dislike Trilogy, I always remember myself: "Hey, little kid, if you had never heard Stray Heart that day on MTV you would not be here writing this". Trilogy is 1/4 of my life. Just this.

  16. I can listen to the Trilogy any time and enjoy it like I heard it the first time. That's why these albums are so awesome.

  17. When I got the notification to say you'd posted in this thread I immediately thought "wrong thread"

  18. I figured it was maybe the wrong thread but sure it's Green Day and it's random It's hilarious, like "wow look over half of people who go to concerts enjoy them who'd have thought??"

  19. it's a good job you quoted me on this one because I've actually put it in the wrong thread! But yeah, who are the miserable 38%?

  22. Me too. I did pick up the last one on eBay during the summer half price - don't know if that helps or if they still have them. It might be worth having a look. When I got it it was £20 and freepost.

  23. Purple and green is the worst color combination they could have come up with. It's absolutely horrible. Revrad cover isn't anything special and I'm not too fond of it but it still is sooo much better than this abomination lol

  24. Hahaha The solo part with Bugs Bunny that plays the banjo It's amazing.

  25. I wish they would play All The Time or Take Back, but they probably never will again haha. Keeping my fingers crossed for when I see them next year.

  27. I quite like the Trilogy! Sure there's a few songs I can't really bring myself to listen to and there are some lyrics that aren't that great, but I'd love to see some of the Trilogy songs played live e.g Brutal Love, Stop When the Red Lights Flash, Stay the Night, Carpe Diem, Nuclear Family, Dirty Rotten Bastards and Makeout Party

  28. I don't remember seeing this one before, love it

  29. I also really disliked the covers and most of the artwork, and I kinda thought this wasn't even an unpopular opinion I think I've grown to like it a little bit, but still, the colours they used on the covers are terrible imo.

  30. They did a fantastic job with the Trilogy, too bad they didn't stick with the concept when they were making RR

  31. I guess they'll bring back some of it in the future. They made a good choice with laying it off for a while - with more distance, it will be accepted more fondly. And most likely, they aren't very much into it at this point. Personally, I don't even care anymore. I take those albums for what they are worth. There are songs I like and songs I don't like but that's fine. There's still some bad taste left - I was disappointed by Trilogy, I didn't like the era in general. The promotion they did for it was kind of meh, it felt forced. And my concert-attending plans fell flat. (That's not anybody's fault, ofc.) I suppose I'll be able to enjoy it more later and hopefully I'm not the only one. Edit: Am I the only one who disliked the aesthetic they used? The album covers were so fugly, I always cringe when I see it lol. Some of the merch was really nice though.

  32. I believe there has to be something I'm missing I really tried to like it but I just can't see why is it all the rage.

  33. I think I am starting to like the trilogy better than AI. Putting aside "I like your BM-excellent tits" and things like that, these albums all have something great about them. Some examples are: Carpe Diem, Lazy Bones, Brutal love, X-kid, Oh love, and Stray Heart. Those are some of GDs best. Great songs from AI: Homecoming, letterbomb.

  34. I like KFAD live. The videos I've seen of it is exciting and fun.

  35. My random Green Day thought is; I wish they could play Nimrod front to back because I love every single song on it. I've been listening to it for the past few days and I can't get enough of it. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it I love every song on all their albums from 39 Smooth through AI and Revolution Radio. 21CB and Trilogy are the only ones where I skip around and pick and choose certain songs.

  36. SAME! This is the one thing that kills Forever Now for me. It's messy right in there. Just flailing guitars. I am really like, the only one who doesn't consider this song the crown jewel of RevRad. I like it just fine, but that shift, ugh.

  37. You should head over to the Kerrang thread and read the direct quotes from Billie about the song. He also spoke about it to Rolling Stone. Billie wrote the song in 2014 after the San Diego shooting by Elliot Rodgers who documented his "manifesto" in YouTube videos and a blog before he committed his killing spree. For months Rodgers documented his thoughts that led to his mass shooting therefore allowing investigators understand the reasons why he committed his crimes and therefore it would allow Billie and the general public have an insight into his thought process at the time. Billie specifically stated Rodgers inspired the song. Rodgers killed because women wouldn't have sex with him, hence "give me death or give me head". There's really nothing satirical about it.
