  1. I literally spent the entire morning watching live videos of Green Day performing "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?". It's such a great song, one of my favourites off Kerplunk along with 80 and Christie Road!

  2. Just found out that Longview is "I locked the door to my own cell" instead of "I locked the door to my hotel."

  3. Why would that be a better lyric? I'm not saying "Waste away tonight" is a great lyric but at least it rhymes more with the "Far away" bit. And I don't think "this amazing night" makes any sense in that song.

  4. Not sure if anyone has posted this but Green Day will be in the Rock Sound 2017 calendar (July 2017). You can order it here: https://shop.rocksound.tv/collections/in-stock-issues/products/rock-sound-issue-221-pre-order-with-a-free-2017-calendar?utm_source=Rock+Sound&utm_campaign=c19f644415-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2016_12_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b32ce54f40-c19f644415-110128365&mc_cid=c19f644415&mc_eid=a65986559c

  5. Getting back on topic........ Tonight I was at a bar with some friends after work. There was a radio station with sports talk, it must have been like Sirius or something. Anyway, they took a commercial break and when it came back on "We Are the Waiting" was playing in the background. I whipped my head around to look at where it was coming from but then it was over. It only played for a few seconds. I though that was pretty cool to hear and a unique song choice since it's not really a well known song.

  9. Oh Love is one that I heard wrong when we started hearing crummy leaks of it. I heard "this amazing night" instead of "waste away tonight". Like in most cases, I think my lyric is better. I was so pissed when I saw the official lyrics. Maybe some of the earliest recordings were what I heard, maybe not. Don't know. Also, here's one I feel guilty about. "Scattered" is one of my all time favorite songs, but I can't understand any of the second verse: Loose ends tied in knots leaving a lump down in my throat Gagging on a souvenir Lodged to fill another year Drag it on and on until my skin is ripped to shreds Leaving my self wide open Living out a sacrifice but back to RevRad: "I'm high on cellular waves" sounds like "On my own cellular waves". and it's "pillows" not "pillow" in "Somewhere Now". What the hell does Green Day have against the letter S? TELL ME PLEAE! and "spirit's place to roam" is shown in infinite varieties everywhere I look.

  10. In Shoplifter, where it goes "But you'll be caught stealing", I always thought he sang something among the lines of "But Jimmy's caught stealing", as a reference to St Jimmy or something.

  11. Dang, I always get that one wrong. All this time I've been thinking he says "Don't want to think about the road". Dang it!

  14. Ugh I hated History! It didn't help that the most boring part (for me anyway) was Irish politics/changes in life in Ireland over the years, which unfortunately, was about 40% of the entire exam!

  16. Yeah, that's what we do too and on top of this the teacher is a royal dick. Literally the only reason why he hasn't been fired yet is that he's an union leader.

  17. Yeah, Roman Empire was a cool time. The problem of history classes is that they usually reduce everything to lists of names, dates and facts and the actually interesting/fun stuff doesn't get mentioned.

  21. I'm listening 'Foreverly' right now, it's been a while, and I can't stop thinking how beautiful Billie's voice sounds in it, for me it's the most beautiful his voice has ever sound (sorry, I always like to fangirl about it lol) , and I really really hope he does another record like that one, don't care if alone or with Norah, I'm just hoping for something like that again.

  25. Laughing at how angry some rancid fans are on FB that they're playing with gd: "It should be the other way round!" "Least I can leave early!" Don't think some of them even realise the connection the two bands have, it's quite funny to watch

  26. I think this is where people who love Insomniac get caught up. I'm not saying I hate any Green Day record, or actually any record I can even think of by anyone. Not for me =/= hate, you guys. The beauty of music is that there's something for everyone, and that seems especially true of Green Day because I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have to look too hard to find a song that would appeal to your grandparents while Insomniac is there for those of you who are into harder/punk music. I only listen to Insomniac when I'm doing a discography listen over a few days. If I hated it, I would entirely skip the whole thing.

  29. I've said this before and I'll say it again, Insomniac is one of the greatest punk albums of all time. Easily stands alongside Give 'Em Enough Rope.

  31. A local radio started playing Still Breathing, it just came on a moment ago and I have to say this song keeps growing on me. I love it. I don't really mind the lyrics anymore and now I can feel more emotion in it that I originally would.

  32. It means nothing special in my opinion. Just "stop when the red lights flash", literally. But when I listen to the song I remember crashing my car on Need For Speed (it was on the soundtrack).
    1 point
  33. I have to disagree with you. First, stop when the red lights flash is not a line in That's All Right. I don't believe it is a metaphor for Billie going off the deep end, but a sign that he needs to stop before he gets there. Here emergency vehicles, such as police, fire trucks, ambulances are equipped with flashing red lights. Also, a standard traffic signal is if the red traffic signal is flashing, it means to come to a complete stop.

  34. I run a (semi-)popular Green Day blog on tumblr and after the AMAs someone sent me a (hysteric) message saying how awesome they thought their chant was, that they cried watching it. Because it made them, as a non-white non-straight non-male person, feel safe, and how good it makes them feel that Green Day will always speak up with no fear (I mentioned this in the AMAs thread). I basically just validated their feeling and listed a few things they have done or said... and thousands of people shared it, saying things like "I had no idea" or "I'm going to start listening to Green Day again" and "thanks 14-year old me" and "time to look for my old cds". I don't know, as someone who loves Green Day very very much it makes me so happy that people are finally realizing again how awesome they are.

  36. Hyde Park will be my 7th Green Day show which is insane to me! I'm only doing one show with two friends (who aren't superfans but we're friends from another fandom and they've let me drag them to the musical already so they knew it was coming ) but hoping to maybe see some GDCers at the other shows

  37. I cannot believe you were seven when that was released! I remember posting on this thread around that time...insane

  38. I always thought the red light thing is a very personal metaphor and some kind of central theme of the trilogy. It could be about Billie's condition at that time, like he already realized that his situation got more and more out of control and he knew that he should stop (he saw the red lights flash), but he couldn't stop, he wasn't able to change anything yet. But maybe I'm reading way too much into this and it's really only about sex Thinking about the song Stop When the Red Lights Flash, I just remembered that it is GREAT live! I don't like it too much on the album, but it rocks like hell on stage. I hope they'll play it again some day in the future.

  40. The first time I did this was agonising enough, and that was before I had let RevRad sink into my bones. I admire the ability some of you have to churn these out so fast Will have a ponder and try to construct a new setlist

  41. For years I heard "the world stoned me so fuuck youu!!" in the Grouch. Revolution Radio the first line is Scream, second one is "sing".

  42. That;s because no one knows what the fuck Billie Joe is saying. When I first became a fan I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the whole "rage and love" came from. Then I listened to JOS again and finally heard "I'm the son of rage and love" and not the "Imma sunna raichu la" or whatever the hell I though he was saying.

  43. Checked some lyric sites and they all say different things. Huh.

  44. He doesn't say the word because he doesn't want to think about it and convinces himself it doesn't matter anyway. So the listener has to guess what the word might be/it can be something else for anyone and it's open to interpretation. Or maybe he couldn't come up with a rhyme.

  45. The booklet has to be wrong, at least with a part of Forever Now. According to the lyrics, the song goes "Don't want to think about tomorrow, Don't want to think about it, ooooooh" but I swear to God that I hear a word there, I swear it is "Don't want to think about the XXXXX". I have no idea what word is that, but I have no doubt that Billie doesn't say just "it oooooooh", or else I will have to visit a doctor to check my hearing.
