I literally spent the entire morning watching live videos of Green Day performing "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?". It's such a great song, one of my favourites off Kerplunk along with 80 and Christie Road!

Just found out that Longview is "I locked the door to my own cell" instead of "I locked the door to my hotel."

Why would that be a better lyric? I'm not saying "Waste away tonight" is a great lyric but at least it rhymes more with the "Far away" bit. And I don't think "this amazing night" makes any sense in that song.

Getting back on topic........ Tonight I was at a bar with some friends after work. There was a radio station with sports talk, it must have been like Sirius or something. Anyway, they took a commercial break and when it came back on "We Are the Waiting" was playing in the background. I whipped my head around to look at where it was coming from but then it was over. It only played for a few seconds. I though that was pretty cool to hear and a unique song choice since it's not really a well known song.

If they leave before GD it means it'll be easier to get to the front

I think it's "Don't want to think about the old". So he's basically saying he doesn't want to think about the future or the past

In Shoplifter, where it goes "But you'll be caught stealing", I always thought he sang something among the lines of "But Jimmy's caught stealing", as a reference to St Jimmy or something.

Dang, I always get that one wrong. All this time I've been thinking he says "Don't want to think about the road". Dang it!

Ugh I hated History! It didn't help that the most boring part (for me anyway) was Irish politics/changes in life in Ireland over the years, which unfortunately, was about 40% of the entire exam!

Yeah, Roman Empire was a cool time. The problem of history classes is that they usually reduce everything to lists of names, dates and facts and the actually interesting/fun stuff doesn't get mentioned.

I'm listening 'Foreverly' right now, it's been a while, and I can't stop thinking how beautiful Billie's voice sounds in it, for me it's the most beautiful his voice has ever sound (sorry, I always like to fangirl about it lol) , and I really really hope he does another record like that one, don't care if alone or with Norah, I'm just hoping for something like that again.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Insomniac is one of the greatest punk albums of all time. Easily stands alongside Give 'Em Enough Rope.

A radio station here played Revolution Radio a few weeks ago. I was in the car and my dad was talking about something. I just interrupted him screaming "turn up the radio, turn up the radio". They rarely play Green Day here.

A local radio started playing Still Breathing, it just came on a moment ago and I have to say this song keeps growing on me. I love it. I don't really mind the lyrics anymore and now I can feel more emotion in it that I originally would.

I have to disagree with you. First, stop when the red lights flash is not a line in That's All Right. I don't believe it is a metaphor for Billie going off the deep end, but a sign that he needs to stop before he gets there. Here emergency vehicles, such as police, fire trucks, ambulances are equipped with flashing red lights. Also, a standard traffic signal is if the red traffic signal is flashing, it means to come to a complete stop.

I always interpreted "stop when the red lights flash" as referring to sex and temptation in the context of the albums, since Oh Love is about sexual tension and he tells the girl/himself "don't stop when the red lights flash" (ignore the warning signs, give in to temptation). Then he says it as more of a phrase by the time things have escalated to "I'll make you surrender". The "red lights" = forbidden contact, so them "flashing" is a warning. It reflects the whole "forbidden love" theme. I've never thought it's directly referring to his issues, but I guess we'll never know for sure since I doubt he'll talk about these songs now.

I run a (semi-)popular Green Day blog on tumblr and after the AMAs someone sent me a (hysteric) message saying how awesome they thought their chant was, that they cried watching it. Because it made them, as a non-white non-straight non-male person, feel safe, and how good it makes them feel that Green Day will always speak up with no fear (I mentioned this in the AMAs thread). I basically just validated their feeling and listed a few things they have done or said... and thousands of people shared it, saying things like "I had no idea" or "I'm going to start listening to Green Day again" and "thanks 14-year old me" and "time to look for my old cds". I don't know, as someone who loves Green Day very very much it makes me so happy that people are finally realizing again how awesome they are.

That set where they played 43 songs is crazy! Only song that isn't there is Welcome To Paradise, other than that they hit so many deep cuts in that set. Be quite lucky to attend that one.

For years I heard "the world stoned me so fuuck youu!!" in the Grouch. Revolution Radio the first line is Scream, second one is "sing".

That;s because no one knows what the fuck Billie Joe is saying. When I first became a fan I couldn't for the life of me figure out where the whole "rage and love" came from. Then I listened to JOS again and finally heard "I'm the son of rage and love" and not the "Imma sunna raichu la" or whatever the hell I though he was saying.

Checked some lyric sites and they all say different things. Huh.

The booklet has to be wrong, at least with a part of Forever Now. According to the lyrics, the song goes "Don't want to think about tomorrow, Don't want to think about it, ooooooh" but I swear to God that I hear a word there, I swear it is "Don't want to think about the XXXXX". I have no idea what word is that, but I have no doubt that Billie doesn't say just "it oooooooh", or else I will have to visit a doctor to check my hearing.

i thought maybe the chorus said "war" but not billie on lead vox. like it was left out intentionally.

The video is wrong? What's the POINT of a lyric video when the lyrics are WRONG
